Tira - Video and Discussion Thread

That is shocking. Sorry to hear that. I guess different branches of Namco were in relatively better/worse positions to take it more seriously.

So I watched Hyrul play here: http://www.twitch.tv/armshouse/b/314144168

and I don't know what was more annoying the grand finals announcers not knowing shit about Tira at all, even slightly and generally not knowing calibur at all (called 44[B ] a low over and over, thought counter was a taunt, said 66AA looked safe on block)... or the fact that Hyrul's Tira looked completely average and 100% won because no one there knows the match up whatsoever?

No disrespect to Hyrul, but if he's really great with Tira he must have been playing down to the competition.

and based of THIS, people are saying she's good post-patch?

I walked into this hoping to see some good post-patch technology and instead I see people eating JS 6A,B multiple times a round, eating her UB 6A+B, not punishing 66AA and constantly ducking for 44[B ]. I gained no knowledge other than the fact that I must be one unlucky son of a bitch to not run into this level of character ignorance at a tournament.

Yeah, the commentary on the grand finals was pretty bad. I though for sure at LEAST after seeing Tira's GS44(B) getting blocked standing, they'd acknowledge that IT ISN'T A DAMN LOW! Though, some of the JS 6AB (maybe about half or so) were CH from what I remember, and the 6A doesn't come out lightning fast but relatively fast, so yeah, I can see those hitting.

Nice to see Tira win, but based a lot from lack of match-up knowledge is still disheartening. I still hold on to my belief that she's not horrible post-patch, but she still needs to get some of her 1.01 patch stuff back. Speaking of patches, has there been any new info about the next patch that's supposed to come out?

Here are a few vids of me at a small RanBat. Im an Xbox player and im still trying to get used to the PS3 controls especially with the directional pad. Because of this not many CE or BEs were used. I play a lot better on the Xbox though.

Having a tough time closing matches under pressure which i need to work on. Ill take any advice or criticism.

A lack of Tira knowledge is also shown.

Well that's a lot of facts. You spend a lot of time criticising other people. Maybe you'd be so kind as to show us some videos of your tournaments vs these players with solid anti-Tira knowledge who you so unfortunately keep running into?

Sorry about that. I wanted me and some of the other players to do some commentary, but I didn't really have the heart to tell those guys to get off the mic - they did show up to the RB after all (it's not that easy getting big crowds to these things). The two guys commentating on the final had appalling knowledge but they aren't SCV players, I think they play Tekken or something. But you're right, the commentary was bad and it made the matches look worse too.

I think you play really well in JS which is really important now. I use 11B more but that's probably just me.

The only thing I would suggest is changing your use of GS 66B. After the patch, I only really use 66B BE for oki. 66B has higher chance of JS shift. 666B is much more powerful now, and has less chance of shift. It's down to personal choice but I think GS 666B is the best way to end guaranteed combos. The BE versions add very little damage, so are best used only for tech traps and oki pressure. These are only personal suggestions so you might prefer to play as you are, but the things you were doing there are things I thought were good pre-patch.

That's odd. For me, 666B changes me to Jolly every time guaranteed. Even on block or whiff! 66B still gives me shift at times but no where near the same rate.

A lot of time? I literally spend minutes and mostly seconds on occasional posts. Anyways, we'll see about my matches this weekend at Powerup, hopefully I make stream.
You'll finally see what happens when people know how to block and punish Tira, and in turn you can celebrate how bad I am and try and invalidate my observations that way, because... you know, I was way off base, the players who played against Hyrul's Tira were actually really knowledgeable and just fell for some intense mindgames.

Post for sure. 236K BE & 66B BE are both not guaranteed changes on hit for JS in my version.
Ok. Well 666B is not a guaranteed shift. It's still more likely than 66B of course. 666B now does 70 damage which is huge. The BE versions of both only add 5 damage, which is why I only use them for tech traps and mixups. They're a waste of meter in combos.
...same old shit...
Look. We all know Tira is in big trouble after the patch. But all I'm seeing from you and certain other experienced players in this thread is whine whine bitch. And with stuff like what you wrote above, it goes further to just plain insulting other people. You're just being an asshole.

People come to 8WayRun to learn about the game and get help from more experienced players. It would be good if you could start writing some constructive stuff and posting useful information rather than just calling out various players and calling them shit.

And if you want to trash talk, at least have the decency to trash players you've actually played before. I'd like to see your reaction when people you've never even heard of start watching your videos and dismissing you and your competitors.

Let's take a moment to chill and remember what's important. We all lose sometime. What does a loss matter unless we choose not to try and learn something from it? Improving without losses is so difficult to do no one ever has to worry about it.

Let's also not mistake criticism for trash talk or confirmation bias as a reason to ignore criticism, however unpleasant it may be. We all possess a long list of flaws, criticism is just another wakeup call about it.

If you guys want to rip each other a new asshole instead of being reasonable, please do it in the game instead of the forums. As amusing as the childish bickering is, most people that visit the SAs are indeed set on learning something or discussing the particular character instead.

^I don't even know who that guy is or what his deal is to be honest. I think he takes my posts personally, and that's his problem. I post statements about observations I make watching matches and people can choose to agree or disagree with them, that is the point of posting (not to be carebears that somehow magically will attract new players with hugs and magic). Never once do I claim to be better than anything I criticize, but the observation of "things that can be done to and about tira, that aren't being done in matches I see" stands, regardless of whether I'm 'good' or not. The level of detail I go into is usually indicative of the time I have to post, which isn't much as of late.

In other news, I top 5'd at Power up and had some good Tira victories vs some good players, most notably, Ryujin (very good Xiba from MI)- who had very little Tira vs Xiba match up knowledge. I was able to tech trap him in GS a lot and forced him into situations where he blocked 11[ B] incorrectly. The best read I made was him trying to finish a close round where we both had no health left; I had just broken a throw and he went for a 1B and I GS 66K'd it for the juicy Tech Jump victory.
Unfortunately those matches did not make stream as it was just before top 8. My matches that did make stream mainly showed me get raped in the 5th place match vs Mystic Bill's Natsu, he knew Tira's match up well and brutalized me (10 frame AA hurts Tira badly). I will post them as soon as the archive shows up... In both my stream matches where I chose Tira first (vs Voldo and then vs the aforementioned Natsu), I ended up switching to Leixia upon loss for a better matchup; where as in pools I stuck to Tira in most cases.

anyways, I wont go into detail without getting vids, so I will speak to it when I find them.
