Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Ah just a couple more days before this eats up my entire friends list. I won't be getting it though. At least not for a few months. I have a lot on my plate as it is.

Damn am I glad I got a 65 dollar best buy card for my birthday on the first of this month. 3 more days!

So justin wong thinks the game is TOO easy

Mvc3 has to be the easiest and cheapest fighting game that was ever made....

If you want to win in MVC3, just learn how to play sentinel in 1 minute and your skills will improve dramatically... Time to go back to MVC2

I like the game alot, i think its fun but it is the cheapest game ever made. Ever played rainbow edition? yea...

Guess what, any game that's hyped up for over 10 years cannot surpass its own hype.

That's a fact of life; no remake/sequel that is awaited that long has ever satisfied like expected.

With that said, I'm pretty sure JWong won't stop anyone from hyping up this game anyway.

Game's fun :/ I do have a feeling damage scaling will be patched in tho. Just blindly testing combos I was doin serious damage and If I knew what OTGs and specials I could link in I wonder...

Despite JWong's credibility I wouldn't hold on to it too much...I've seen a lot of pros in SC say some pretty dumb things based on their outlook of what the game should be. It's too early to tell even for him and all his play time. Wait till EVO.

Overall I LOVE the feel of the game. Movement feels fantastic! But it's a different game. You cannot assist spam like you did in MvC2. You really have to protect them and use them wisely. They don't suck...they just don't do Captain Commando bullshit anymore with priority and invincibility. As for easy yes...but just because combos are easy doesn't mean the set ups and ability to not get hit isn't as hard as ever. The game is super safe and you have to earn your way. It's a really skill to get in and that's where I feel it is better. In MvC2 you just kept pullin bullshit pressure loops until you hit confirmed and went crazy. Here it's so free form and you have to be ready for punishing, countering, and combing..

I do however see a LOT of new players being able to play this. Controls are simple and we had people not too terribly fighter savvy pulling off areal raves and such without even seeing the movelist and handed a brief mention of the controls.

I can clearly say I have no fucking clue on tiers. The game has so much diversity it's going to be a mess of new strategies to counter the latest trends. I do find myself using rush down characters tho which is odd since I'm notoriously a chip spam turtle player who harasses with projectiles. My current team is X-23, Ryu, Super Skrull, but that will likely change when i can have some personal time in practice mode to really tinker around.

So my opinion as of now is I feel this is a much more fun game than any fighter I've ever played. It plays Amazing, but I do hope they tone down the combo damage which will be confirmed and addressed come EVO (they said they wanted to wait till EVO to get a clear idea of what to patch)

Oh and while Phoenix takes damage like a bitch her zoning is no joke. Even without dark phoenix she's very fast, teleports safely, and her projectiles own. Once she goes dark phoenix her blast send the opponent clear across screen so don't fear a reset kill after the change, you have advantage i believe. Once she's in that mode she's a fricken nightmare of projectiles on screen. So she's gonna need a lot more testing to see where she'll be on the tier list... she DOES have the potential to offset that terrible life bar.

Meh, I'll judge the game for myself when I get it. From the vids, I see some stuff I like and I see some things that I don't like. Either way, at best, I'll actually like the game, at worst, it'll replace SF4 as my game I only play because of the semi-decent online/playerbase.

Also, though I'm still going to play Phoenix no matter what, unless every character has a way to infinite Sentinel or, as I'm hoping, there's a team with insane meter building capabilities, Phoenix will not be considered tournament viable.

There is.

It's called: Any team with Morrigan.

:D

Every character has high damage combos with enough meter. Lvl 3 hypers DO NOT damage scale. And combos gain a tone of meter and will often give you the needed ending hypers. This game is a giant match of DONT FUCK UP so don't feel phoenix is all alone. 1 good combo can almost kill anyone if it's got the right juice behind it.

Just got doing a few characters missions in Mission Mode like Dormammu, Wesker, Chris and Morrigan and I gotta say, I'm glad these aren't as gut-wrenching as S/SF4. Although they both still retain the fact that the combos they have you do are pretty much impractical save for like maybe 1 or 2. A certain character's Missions I thought were completely piss easy personally though, was Dante. There was absolutely nothing difficult for his combos. Even his final special combo that had you chain 2 OTGs and a wall bounce into a super wasn't even anything to sweat. Here are his missions if you don't know them.

Overall, I feel this game is absolutely great, although it is a tad bit too newb friendly, but that's the evolution of fighting games for you. I pretty much settled on my main team for now and they would be Wesker, Dante and Dormammu.

Wekser with Dante's Jam Session assist and Dormammu's Dark Hole assist creates so much havoc it's unreal. His teleports have little to no recovery time and your opponent usually never knows where he's going to end up (unless it's the damn CPU, then you're going to be very scared to actually teleport) so it's always a guessing game with him. Time them with the right assists (in my case, Dante or Dormammu) and you have yourself free cross-ups. He can also cancel his teleports from his Samurai Edge normal (f+H) with a single button press which eliminates any start up he has on his teleports. (yes, it does have a start up) Add to the fact that he can OTG from a Samurai Edge Low Shot (d/f+H) with an assist THEN to a Maximum Wesker or level 3 and I'm reassured as to why he's my avatar and on my sig. Something I think people are sleeping on with Wesker though, is his command grab. (hcb+L/M/H) It comes out VERY quickly and his H command grab causes wall bounce which is pretty much a free 50/50 or even a death combo. Most probably won't see it coming since they're thinking about trying to block all your hits. The same can be said for his counters (rdp+L/M/H) which counters highs (into an air launch), lows and projectiles (both into a wall bounce) respectively. He cannot counter hyper projectiles even with his hyper counter (qcb+Attack x2)

Dante alone is already pretty damn good, but he really needs that assist back up to help get in on the opponent. His Air Trick teleport (d,d+S) is VERY predictable as he always ends up behind the opponent. My bro kills me a good number of times with Iron Man's Repulsor Blast>Proton Cannon when i didn't have my assists backing up my teleports. As many Dante's that you're going to see online, he CAN and WILL be taken out quickly because any decent keep away will kill him since he doesn't exactly have the best health and they probably won't have an assist to cover him. One good punish and he's done. As for his play style, much is already known about how to play him, so I don't think I really need to go into detail here.

Now, as for Dormammu, he wasn't exactly as I expected in terms of a Blackheart replacement but he has many different tools he can use quite possibly the best keep away in the game. Only beaten by MODOK in this category. He has a ground fire trap normal (d/f+H) which serves a similar purpose as Chris' Incendiary Grenades and a projectile normal (f+H) which causes a wall bounce on hit for a free Dark Hole>Chaotic Flame combo. His Dark Hole and Purification need to be placed very precisely as they don't track track like Blackheart's Inferno. He also has a little gimmick with his Power of the Creator/Destructor moves. Each hand can be charged for maximum combination of 3. These give him a bevy of different powers for more keep away. My personal favorite is his Meteor Shower (2 Creator, 1 Destructor) Practically full screen (it doesn't cover directly in front of him) multi-hit aerial projectiles that give me the chance combo more with Dark Holes and Purifications or charge up some more Creator/Destructor? Hell yes. Now as for his mobility, he is VERY slow. He cannot cancel his dashes and he is a BIG target. However he has an 8-way air dash to make up for it, so you can just reverse tri-dash with him to gain some space while using an assist for cover. (in my case, Dante) You can use his Stalker Flare hyper to try and gain some space if you can't use your assist for cover as it tracks your opponent down til the very last hit.

If you guys have any questions on the game or about these characters (if I haven't elaborated enough for you) feel free to ask. This game is very fun. =D

After all the videos I've seen I was going to use this team. LoL Thanks for letting me know ahead of time it's a strong team.

Mike Ross must have ran a streak on him. LoL Serves him right though, saying Ross is only good at Charge Characters and his Honda doesn't need much skill to be a beast.

:D

Yeah, I already know about Morrigan's assist; I wouldn't use an assist for a buff effect like that when I could give them a more offensive assist and use it to the same effect, though she doesn't stay on screen too long.

Damn, you beat me to that video IFB. I was just gonna come in here and post that. Dark Phoenix with xfactor is retarded, stupid good. I had a team of Dormammu, Phoenix and Morrigan picked out originally but later thought about possibly dropping Phoenix. A lot of people on SRK were questioning the usefullness of her and i was thinking the same. After seeing this, my faith in her is restored.

However, there are a lot of characters i am excited to try and play as well, so who knows? I suppose everything is subject to change once i have the game in hand on Tuesday.

Oh, my god, not only have I seen vid, but you're so incredibly dense this doesn't make any sense. You know, I used to wonder why people gave you so much shit when I first got here, but, the more I read shit you say, the more I understand it.

I'm going to spell this out for you, even though it's obvious your brain has some mechanism that distorts all logic in order to make sense of however the hell you think.

People are banking on Dark Phoenix to make Phoenix into a completely viable character (whether or not I believe the same is irrelevant). In order to get get Dark Phoenix, you have to have Phoenix be KO'd with 5 special bars. This means, essentially, that, unless we learn some crazy meter gaining setups, you have to be wary of using Hyper Combos, DHC's, Phoenix as an assist, and, at the same time, also keep her alive if your opponent uses snapbacks. Not only this, but, even Phoenix comes down to having Phoenix-specific teams, the teams have to have the ability to function well without Phoenix, as the noted requirements will not be met some times.

Don't get me wrong, I think Phoenix is a GREAT character without regards to her health, but any team, at the moment, that uses her, is going to have to play that much more competently than those that don't. Any team with Phoenix on it is going to be putting limitations on itself by super strict use of hyper combos, DHCs, and assists, if one of their goals is to always have a pocket Dark Phoenix who, mind you, still dies in one combo, so it's not like you just activate Dark Phoenix and profit. Honestly, any team with Dark Phoenix as a goal is looking like a less powerful version of Clockw0rk, with you having to have two characters perfectly capable of handling things with 1 assist and gain meter while at the same time being a threat to your opponent.

I'm not even going to hit the 'easiness' discussion, because, not only do you misunderstand the meaning but, but it's obvious you barely even understand general fighting game mechanics. And the fact that you would mention yourself playing MvC2 is hilarious; I bet you were the bane of many a' online scrub in MvC2. I'm starting to see how somebody like you, who, for lack of better words, is horrible at Calibur, could have the audacity to believe you're actually decent at it.

And, even with vids, just to show how subjective they are:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=crx37YZB7ug#t=401s

Go ahead to 6:42. Not to mention, in the vid with the reverse OCV, not only were both players average (read: they would be horrible if they were playing that way once everyone actually understands the game), but the player who got reverse OCV'd could've won off of simply using X-factor and then doing another hyper combo.

With that, I'm done typing towards you. Like I said, you can ignore me or something, because, really, I have no interest in talking to you unless it's to beat you horribly in a FT10 at some tournament.
