Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Well depending on the character, generally MvC is very easy to pick up. Avoid characters with awkward movement and controls like Dr.Doom for a bit and stick to characters like Wolverine, X-23, Taskmaster, Ryu, Akuma, etc... Get a character that can survive on simple combos and build off of that. The official guide is really highly recommended and will help you with a LOT if you're willin to drop a little cash. With MvC you have to build on concepts so you'll find your self changing characters with the more you understand. My teams are completely different than the ones i started with.

The thing i tell everyone when they try and get into this game is to play all the missions and see which characters you like using. Then try and work on a team that help that character Excel. I've played the same team since the game came out and I'm still finding things out with them. Just play who you like and eventually you find other characters that mesh well with em.

From your earlier message it seems like you don't know the difference between blocking in a 3d game and a 2d game.
In a 3d game you default block mids because they are too hard to react to and try to react to lows. Mids don't break low guard in 2d only "overhead" attacks which is most air moves and rare specific ground moves. Lows are often unreactable so you want to block low defaultly.

Add me on psn: Juece

I'm looking at you IFB and LP as I need some input on my gameplay. I want to win at DEV damn it I want to win at this game.

I don't like fighting games online as the way I play is VERY reaction based, but I may make an exception.

You know there is more to fighting games then reaction, Have I ever told you this ? ;)

That's what people with shitty reaction time like to tell themselves, about yomi and reading and all that ish, that it's so much more.

Its a combination of reaction and prediction IMO, sometimes things happen to fast and you just have to guess what will be thrown out. Anyways, I'm thinking of using Skrull/Task/Doom as my second team but I suck with them, I'm slowly learning stuff with them but I don't know yet. IFB since you play tasky can I ask ya to teach me some basic stuff with him?

On a seperate note I've realized how much better stick is on this game now, I can do things that I just can't do on the pad.

Yeah...I have no idea how pad players play this game. I get pad for MK and SC...but MvC3?!?

Task is very versatile but to validate him you need to really be able to pull off combo into swings then into launch. Your combos should be doing 600k+ when starting off a basic c.L or c.M. I have a hard time playing him online though as my swing combos often drop, missing the bulk of the damage. throw me an invite, IFB-Pwnstar. Not sure when I'll be available, if it says I'm on netflix, it's my friend not me.

There was recently an infinite discovered for him. Something about like tiger knee Light Tenderizers and I think 2(Heavy). It is on Shoryuken, don't know if you have read about it but just spreading what I've learned in case you haven't.

Yeah I saw that but had no clue as to how to use it, I want to learn how to do it but odds are it will be patched so I may not bother with it.

Yeah good choice, I tried to get his dash into Down-Heavy relaunch combos down but couldn't seem to time the dash into launcher after OTG Jumping Down-Heavy.

Some times you don't even need to dash after the j. down-H you can just relaunch, also remember that if you used one ground bounce then relaunching becomes difficult. You want something fun to do though is you get a command throw near a corner and then do tenderizer-L and just go for a relaunch since you will usually be close enough to them to set up some nasty combo's. Also if you play him a lot use orbital grudge and throw out fatal buster as I haven't seen it used often and people don't seem to expect it. Don't forget his s.H is +2 on block so feel free to abuse the hell out of it along with 6h 3h since it gives him some poking options from a distance.

Look at me talking like I know how to play skrull lol.

I figure since, what, three people have replied, I'd go ahead and reply. You all don't understand what I mean at all. The argument that 'reaction time isn't everything' is usually brought about by people who want to excuse their own shitty reaction time and don't want to put the effort into training their senses. You never hear anyone going on about how 'yomi isn't everything'. You do hear arguments about execution not being everything, but, once again, usually for people to excuse their own poor execution and validate their refusal at attempting to get better.

On that same note, there hasn't been anything I couldn't do on a pad that I could on a stick but to each his own.

People will say theory isn't everything too...they do it to me all the time.

Beauty of fighting games is there's a lot too them and it's really what mix of skills you bring o the table and each thing you are good in can compliment the other. If you know yomi, but can't execute it, it's pointless...likewise if you know how to execute but not set it up it may never be relevant. This is where you see different play styles form where people sometimes have to make peace with walls they can't overcome (or won't enjoy) and maybe try another character or style to best suite what they do well. It's like Ivy vs Setsuka, 2 of the hardest characters to learn in SC but for completely different reasons. Ivy doesn't depend on execution near as much as Setsuka, but Ivy can be argued needs more planning as you have to consider stance changes and positioning more.

You need both. I can do a 950k combo with Akuma no assist or X-factor, but unless i get you in the corner I havent found a reasonable way to hit confirm with a set up to use it and so I go for an easier combo.

And keep in mind that the whole reason any of this is being discussed is because I said the way I play is very reaction based.
