Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Watch for Soraky. He may not think it to the same degree, but his Zero is phenomenal. If he gets his other 2 characters down and a few match ups, he'll be a real threat at EVO. I'mma go out on a limb and say Soraky is better than Marn's Zero in a 1 on 1 based on what I've seen in person. There might be live streams of him at our local tournaments. His big thing is to create a pressure series involving multiple cross ups in the corner, then after his combo he snaps you out and forces the new character to endure the same pressure, rinse and repeat. It's stupid hard to block all that.

But I agree. I've seen a lot of Zero's and not a lot of results. As good as he is, I feel people try to use him as a tier crutch like Wolverine for vanilla, but you can't. Zero has some derpy stuff, but it takes skill to put it all together once your opponent stops getting destroyed by j.C.

Aww, lol, I feel warm and fuzzy inside now haha.

In all seriousness though, I'll prove your point and say that I do indeed suck. My Zero is about 70% in mixup and combo potential right now, particularly because I am not using his L mixups (L Hienkyaku to be more precise). Also, I'm not very good against (really good) keepaway yet, as evidenced with Ruin zoning my Zero out with Wesker + Magneto disruptor. In other words, right now, Sam will destroy me. :)

Working though -- I will get top 8 at Evo or die trying. :sc1ivy1:

PS. Tell Earl good job on nabbing 3rd recently. We gonna take over that place soon enough.

Will do. I'm having small headway on getting over my salty spirals. Still not there yet tho, I made a very very silly mistake on a very patient comeback. I might've fired a random Akuma beam at Spencer because i got confused and for some reason got X-factor and meter confused and confirmed he had no meter for bionic arm based on his gray X! Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerp.

Viewtiful joe is legit though O_O

We need to work on your others characters though. i think imma flip my team around for practice just to learn how to use akuma on point better.

Is it just me or is Iron Fist fast as fuck? I try to push him off me with hawkeye and next thing I know he is already within jabbing distance. I'm surprised he isn't used by more online players since he hits like a truck.

Side note I have realized that I can probably get more damage off with hawkeye by just chipping at people than I can with actually hitting a combo.

MANNNNN I swear I Was spamming Astral Soul Fists from day one. I mean what else are you supposed to do. Why is everyone hopping on Dieminions Morrigan like its some new Shit. Same with Doom. (No Disrespect to Dieminion).

I must look like a follower with my Nova Morrigan Doom Team, but I've been using Doom and Morgs Day 1. Used to use Hulk or Spidey with them, but Hulk to hard to get in, and Spidey is Hella Weak, although I love his mobility.

Whats the Verdict on Vergil?! He seems less complicated than Dante but has got all the right tools.

Also Shuma is going to be my next main, just need to find a right team with him. DLC Sale cant go wrong ;)

Fuck it no more online. Punched my stick after the last match of comboing and always missing the easier hyper so that the wake up and punish me doing it way later than i inputted it. Doesn't help that my assist come out late to throw a happy birthday party in my honor too... -_-

Welcome to the land of sanity, IFB.

Well not to be rude or pretentious but IMO Marn's Zero sucks big time in UMVC3 from what i saw. Marn plays for flash. He has godlike combo's tricky mixups but plays the game like a 6 year old retarded kid. So i'm totally convinced soraky's Zero is better even tough he said he's using him to about 70%. And about that snapback i do agree on this. I have some horrible technology too with Zero and firebrand. With 2 meters you can do some pretty decent damage of a blocked Rekkoha DHC into luminous body than Firebrand unblockable set up which is garanteed. Here's what i do.

Basic Zero Bnb meterless from midscreen with Zero on my team does around 670k i simply replace rekkoha with Sentsuizan xx Buster, Raikousen, Ryuenjin then i do Rekkoha while opponent is still in the air . Opponent will have recovered thus blocking the Rekkoha in the air. But as soon as i use rekkoha i DHC into luminous body and charge up garanteed unblockable for a 450 to 500k combo meterless. Verdict basic bnb about 1,100 000 with 2 meters which is pretty good and easy. :D

Firebrand setups are godlike. I guarantee we'll see these more at Evo, if not before.

I wanna see Evo Zero's use Lightning loop though... if anyone can get that to 100% execution, you don't even need a ToD team -- Zero can ToD anyone on his own.

Unblockables on long DHC > charge up mode you say?!? To tha lab! I sense Task/Storm may return as my B team!

Yeah id really like that too. Im not too good with the lightning loop i ain't got the patience to practice those high tier execution combo's. I prefer simple effective combo's and set ups. Anyways the difference being usually 1 less meter use. But i do admit firebrand is really good if you get creative. He works really well with Strange and so does Zero. Personally i think Dr. Strange is another sleeper. Eye of Agamato works so well with Zero and Firebrand its ridiculous. Gives firebrand a TON of unblockable set ups and sets up some crafty mix ups with Zero. All of this to say I LOVE MY TEAM and i LOVE UMVC3 :D

Think I found my Guile theme muse. I have channeled my salt @_@. Turning my whining into hilarious commentary = win (and also money from money matches! Bling!)

Holy crap I just barely found out you can tiger knee Supper scatter shot and exploding arrow with hawkeye after you launch with S. I really need to get back down and work on my basic stuff now and improve my overall game.

Oh Cosmic I've been meaning to ask, what are your thoughts on the Viper/Hawkeye match up? I haven't played any real Viper players and I can't gauge how well hawkeye does.

Lol yup. If you can it's his best ender since it does much better with damage scaling, but you generally need to have a proper assist to make the combo variant to justify it and still get a DHC. Play around with it in DHC's too! Has a lot of potential since it hits long after you've recovered.

Also I'm having a real tough time justifying the random cross ups Wesker and Vergil do in their hypers. Is there any logic to how these work and why the randomly cross up?!? I find with Wesker you want to stand and block and Vergil you want to duck, but still every now and then I got from blocking to getting nailed in the back of my head for no fucking reason and it's retarded. Any advice?

The trick with these supers is that once you block the first hit, chances are the super will not cross you up because you'll be in constant blockstun. So, the important thing is to maximize the chances that you will be in block animation as soon as the super starts. In a way, you play with geometry.

If you're close to your opponent, stand block normally.

If you're in the middle of the screen and your opponent supers in the corner, jump and block normally.

If you're on opposite corners, crouch and block normally.

Out of those three, the second has the highest chance of randomly crossing you up. In the end, these will just maximize the chance that you won't be crossed up since you're making yourself an easier target to hit.

I would give this match to Viper by a significant margin, because the zone where Hawkeye is most effective (ground-to-normal-jump height) is where Viper's game is dominant. Hyper Viper Beam, EX Thunder Knuckle, and Seismos put this match in Viper's favor without assists, because even if Hawkeye manages to get Viper to the other end of the screen, she can EX TK through everything he does, or shoot through it all with the Viper Beam. Hawkeye's mobility is also nothing compared to Viper's. Like basically all of Hawkeye's matchups (Save for a few like Strange, Hsien-Ko, etc.), just play keepaway and don't let Viper get close to you.

Hmm I was had a feeling Viper had the edge in the match-up, those seismos and EX moves really screw up my normal game plan. I haven't really seen her beam attack though but I hear it has really good durability. It's a match-up that is hard to learn with only a few viper players around and the only good Viper player I've ever had a chance to play against was Chrisis, though at the moment I didn't know who he was.

Would you say that if I were to go up against a viper player it would be better for me to use Dante instead?

Hyper Viper Beam has medium durability, so it will shoot through everything but hypers. And yeah, I'd recommend using Dante. I really want to say you should just stick with Hawkeye, but once Viper's being played nearer to her full potential, it's going to be very rough for characters that aren't S tier to contend against her.

And you got to play Chrisis? Color me jealous; so much respect for him.

Got me a B team started: Dorm(portal)/Dante(jam)/Doom(beam). Been wanting to do this for awhile, but avoided it in vanilla since I didn't want to learn Dante and Doom, but I can finally do their BnBs so I figured I'd try. Team just feels solid, with some pretty cookie cutter set ups and synergy. Nothing to fancy, but effective. Cut the screen up with projectile assists while dorm does what ever and abuse teleport+assists set ups.

Thoughts and ideas? Right now it's pretty basic with fishing for BnBs, so I haven't gone into resets, shenanigans, fancy team combos, etc...
