Viola Combo & Tech Trap Discussion

Not sure if it's been posted but just figured out, against a wall/edge, S-6B+K -->1K-->2A or A-string is a guaranteed combo. This is great for me because most of the combos I use leave people in a corner but without reason to duck unless they fear a grab. Also, it makes launcher carries into O-9K more relevant.
 
I'm not sure if people have played with her wall combos much, but I've figured a really good one out.

6B+K 6B 3B W! 44A.BE 2A WR B 2b+kBE B A.A.B 2A+B 2b+kBE 6B+K B A.A.B 9A+B = 184 / 1.5 meter
6B+K 6B 3B W! 44A.BE 2A WR B 2b+kBE B A.A.B 2A+B 2b+kBE 6B+K B A.A.B 44A.B = 187 / 1.5 meter
6B+K 6B 3B W! 44A.BE 2A WR B 2b+kBE B A.A.B 2A+B 2b+kBE 6B+K B A.A.B 9K = 178 + forced orb block (11 damage if they stay down, 10 if it hits standing) / 1.5 meter

You can do two 3B W!'s, but you'll end up losing a tiny bit off damage at the end (~2-3 damage).
You can also do 4B instead of WR B.. 4B does more damage, however the timing is a bit stricter and it doesn't turn you the tiny bit that WR B does so the 2A+B orb hit in the combo will often miss.

Also, being near the wall and with the combo enders behaving as they do, it's possible that the 9A+B ender listed will only hit once.

And again, I'm sure you guys will find something to make this better.
 
Found a 183 damage combo (refer to my general discussion post):

33(B) ~ 6AB B+K BE ~ 6AB B+K ~ 6A+B ~ 2B+K BE ~ dash forward ~ AAB ~ 66B ~ 66A+B B.

183 damage for a full bar of meter. Not bad I think ;)

EDIT: Damage seems to vary, not sure why, but it can be between 180-190 damage.

EDIT 2: This combo does not work. Can be air controlled. The version below does work however:
33B ~ 6AB BE ~ 6A+B (slight charge) ~ 2B+K BE ~ AAB ~ 66B ~ 66A+B B.
 
On downed 2B+K BE
Close - treat like a 3B e.g - 2B+K BE, AAB .....
Far 2B+kBE, B+K BE , 66b ..


Also,
6B+K, WRB for high lnc
 
Start ORB and do B+K for this to put orb in proper spot:
SET 3B b+kBE 2A+B 2b+kBE 6B+K 66A A.A.B 66B 66A+B.B = 132 / 1.0 meter (if I'm correct, the normal combo does 102ish)
^^^You can also throw a 6B+K out before 3B to kind of trick them if you tend to throw there.

SET 6B+K 3K 3B b+kBE 2A+B 2b+kBE 6B+K 66A A.A.B 66B 66A+B.B = 162 / 1.0 meter (doing this starter without the additional brave edge does about 136)

The timing for these is pretty strict and I'm pretty sure the first one is character specific (2B+K to set would give you more time and would work the same on more characters), but they're really cool. Stronger and adds a nicer touch to the boring combos.
 
btw, Im sure most of you guys know, but I keep running into violas that end combos early
If you want to do the 3B SET, AAB, 2A+B,2B+KBE, 6B+K, 66A( USE B INSTEAD) alot easier and allows you extend
 
yeah, but some people cant seem to 66A, I constantly see violas dropping it, I told a player, and they didnt know you could swap 66A for B **
 
Hello ! Would you please tell me when is the perfect moment to use her critical edge?
I actually use it to make a combo or to be sure that the other player will die (by using her fire attack). Is it useful like that?

Her critical edge is so good it's my main use of meter for Viola. As you say, it's very useful for a practically guaranteed kill against an opponent on low health. I slightly more frequently use it when I'm at advantage for the :1::K:/:B::B: mixup that nets you a free launch. Even if they guess right you can still mixup with :3::B: and throws, or even better, cancel the end of it into :6::B+K:. You can pretty much just throw it out and do well, though I most frequently use it after landing a combo, recalling the orb, having the first hit in a :6::B+K: mixup blocked or after hitting with :A::A::B: or :B::B::B:.
 
Using her CE then unblockable isnt guaranteed, your opponent can JG the unblockable

Personally, I like to CE then 1A+B so they end up floating and you can AAB etc
also if you can certify 6A+B wont whiff, you CE straight afterwards to to buy you time, and you either 1A+B, 1K, Unblockable , move round to their back and back throw into combo

her CE is good but, her meter has so many uses, you could most probably save it brave edges if your not certain the CE will hit

This seems like a bad idea to me for a variety of reasons. Firstly, :1::A+B: is much slower than :1::K: and can be blocked on reaction. It also takes a lot longer for the move to complete, so you have less time in which to take advantage of the rest of the CE. Hitting with :1::A+B: and then going from the CE straight into :A::A::B: will net less damage than hitting with :1::K: and :3::B:. Finally, going straight into :A::A::B: when the enemy is floating will combo a lot less consistently than just counting to seven and doing the launcher.

So I would really just do :1::K:. :P
 
I'm having trouble landing the 6A+B, 2B+K BE when in the air. I can do the 6A+B, 2B+K BE when they are standing no problem but when I try after a SET 3B, AAB the computer keeps being able to tech out of it. I know you have to delay the 6A+B slightly but exactly how long?


Also is there any place that has all her tech traps listed? I saw a tech trap thread but nothing is in it and I don't really wanna have to go through all 40 pages of this thread to figure them all out.
 
Ok I will get the tech thread sorted.
Its only a slight charge for a second, also make sure you're inputting 2B+KBE asap, otherwise they can tech
 
My go-to guard crush combo: 6B+K - 3K - B+KBE - 6[A+B] - 2B+KBE - 6B+K - B(66A) - AAB - 66B - 66A+B

180 so DMG

Mix up versions: 6B+K - iFCK (difficult timing), 6B+K - 3A (less damage but more safe), 6B+K - 2A (not really reccomended)

Possible meter extension: 6B+K - 3K - B+KBE - 6[A+B] - 2B+KBE - 6B+K - B(66A) - B+KBE - 6A+B - 2B+KBE - 6B+K - B(66A) - AAB - 66B - 66A+B 220-230 so DMG

I would never recommend using more than 2 BE in a single combo unless for a round end as the damage scaling is not worth it.

Dunno if these have been posted already so sorry if they were.
