Me and my friend EJ played fftactics since we were in middle school when it came out. We'd always try to 1up each other by saying who got what job mastered how soon and so on, because you know, on the psx you couldn't do any two player activity at all.
When it came out for the psp naturally we jizzed our pants a couple of times not just for the revamp of everything in it, but also the new co-op missions they gave us. We couldn't touch that shit for the first week because of how hard it was.
So theres this one mission that has 4 levels of hell involving some of the hardest bosses in the game all together to fight against. Me and EJ had only 1 guy left on the last level against the boss who was barely weak enough to kill. Problem was, the statistic of landing the blow was 37%. I remember that fucking number because we paced back and forth debating if that was the best choice or otherwise the boss would murder us and we'd have to start that 2 hour journey all over again.
I told him we go big or we go home. We attacked that fucking computer.
Somehow by the grace of hell, we fucking nailed it. We yelled so loud the neighbors knocked on my door to make sure we were ok. I have never felt a deeper connection to a game before in my entire life than in that moment. At that moment, it just got pro.
