What do you look for in a stage and what kind of stages would you like? (also Custom Stages)

Shining Sea Dragon

There are plenty of interesting stage in the series.

Beautiful backgrounds, epic music, wonderful designs, and various setting! What more could ask for?

A lot! The possibilities are endless.

I would want stages with things like:
  • Cherry Blossoms floating in the foreground and background.
  • Interesting things in the background (though not too distracting).
  • Epic Music (though it seems to be a must have).
I would like to see new innovations in stages like:
  • Non-Ring Out stage transitions.
  • Wall that bounce fighters behind their opponents.
  • Stages that get smaller/larger as time progresses.
As discussed before, I would like to have custom stages as well:
  • Shapes
    • Hexagons
    • Octagons
    • Triangles
    • Circles
    • Rectangles
    • Pretty much anything that doesn't leave a gap between the fighters.
  • Being able to set the boundaries with walls of various heights and durability (or no walls at all).
  • Time of Day
    • Dawn
    • Day
    • Sunset
    • Dusk
  • Settings
    • Colosseum
      • Spectator Population
        • You can either set it high to look like some massive tournament scene or set it to low to none to make it look like some private underground fight.
      • Torches
        • Several Big ones or plenty of small ones.
        • Adjust the color.
        • Adjust the brightness.
    • Courtyards
    • Places in Nature
    • Any ideas that I haven't thought of yet... I'm open to to new ideas.
  • Materials
  • Patterns and Symbols
  • Ring-Out Zones like:
    • Bottomless Pits
    • Lava
    • Water
    • Acid
    • Perhaps adjust the level of the pool.
So, what do you think?

WALLS! n.n Sometimes those occasional stages with a nice china or w/e theme to it on a sunset is pretty damn sexy to die in, lol. Night time stages should also be a little more darker & graphic. If you know what I mean. Like that damn raft stage. To keep in mind, I do have my brightness at max, but I don't think its a huge difference. It wouldn't be that damn light if you really whent in there. I'm also not saying it'd also be pitch black. Just dark, & not bright as how they have it now. The jungle stage at night looks mid day. Not even dark at all. So how could it be night? The graveyard stage is pretty decent, I think. I'm gonna have to look at it again. The stage that's DAMN good with the darkness of the night & detailing is the Ghost Ship. Now that's night, the only lighting source is the lightning strikes & those 2 or 4 out door lamps.

Ah stages, the bread and butter of games. Well in general, I like stages with interaction. Dead or Alive always had visually amazing stage designs (in my opinion). From animals in jungles to people watching and all that stuff.

In terms of SC, I love stages that have an oriental theme. Xianghua's levels in SC1 & SC3 were beyond beautiful (I didn't care much for the SC4 oriental stage though the men riding horses was awesome. SC5's is very nice.) I also like town designs. SC hasn't had a good town design yet. SC5 Patroklo's level could have fit the bill if they let you explore the streets instead of being in a box. Broken Destiny's Dampierre's level was beautiful done though. I also like Gothic inspired levels. SC5's Spiral tower was quite nice as well as Algol's stage. Raphael's level in SC3 was great too.

I would love to see custom stages brought in, your idea would work great for it. :D

Death Emperor makes a good point when it comes to night time stage, they should try to emphasize them more.

Like i've said Before: A Colosseum stage with a big audience cheering and going wild whenever you do a CE or w/e. That will be my dream stage. Kinda got it in 5 but you're in a stupid cage with only druids cheering you on. LAAAME!

This is what i had i mind (minus the throne, beasts and such):

This would be my exact stage. The players would fight where the villagers are standing. (Or maybe below that.) :2:

Nothing special or specific tbh. Just the stage as whole would looks cool and have some kind of sick atmosphere (most import thing), and of course for stages i like them to be very variant and different. Soul Calibur franchise nail this well in general imo, well except SC4 where there were some weird stages that looked like out of place and from some Disney anime or something. SC2 was too good in that matter and Hubris is probably one of my favorite Stage in the entire franchise, SC5 stages are super great as well, SC3 stages are just too amazing (even tho they got ruined a bit with the PS2 Aliasing lol but the Stages design were just amazing), i think this game is my favorite when it comes to stages, great variety of stages that looked very different and variant in every aspects and all looked great with dope OST

Also Street Fighter 2 is a good example about what i like in stages, very different, very original, with sick atmosphere, and also seeing some relevant characters in the background adds a sick touch too (Balrog Trainer in Las Vegas stage for example). As well as the reaction after a KO like the elephants in Dhalsim Stage and the animals that cry in the Background of Fei Long Stage, those kind of aspect are something that add a lot for the stages imo. But i'm talking here about a 2D game, and now thinking about it 3D fighters don't do this usually, would be cool if we'll get to see something like this in a futur SC game.
