Where have you been all my life?

What's up, 8 Way Runners? I'm MorsCodeStutter, and I'm new to 8wayrun forums, but you may have seen me join the 8wayrun player room from time to time, or elsewhere in SCV. I've been playing since SCII and used to main only Siegfried, but with the advent of online gaming, I expanded my abilities and learned to appreciate the more elaborate movelists of other characters. And so ever since SCIV, I've been officially addicted to Soul Calibur, having to play it almost every night because I love weapon based fighting.

It's a total shame that there's not enough weapon based fighting games out there, but I guess that's what makes Soul Calibur so awesome. It's one of its kind. Being here on 8wayrun, I hope to feel welcomed where I belong, since all my friends are Street Fighter fanboys that are too loyal to see past SC as some button masher, instead of an even more complex game than any cut and dry 2d fighter. I mean Street Fighter's a good game, but that's all it is. Good. Though I do love the comic book series that fleshed out the characters with plenty of depth. Soul Calibur on the other hand is just EPIC. There's so many more possibilities in terms of gameplay mechanics and characterization, and I can go on forever why SC>SF.

I spend a lot of time at the Gamefaqs board, but realized that it's not as active as my forum junkie side woudl like to be, so here I is! I look forward to being part of this massive Soul Calibur community.

I'm on seXbox and I main Viola for combo creativity, ZWEI for serious pressure games, Hilde for chrage swag, Natsu for double CE combo, then I sub with Siegfried (except he is lame compared to his SCIV counterpart, much like), Mitsurugi (but it's too easy to win with him still), and finally Tira (which is TOO hard to win with due to the patch). When I'm feeling zealous, I also use Elysium but sometimes fail due to my lack of Ivy knowledge.

Back on the Street Fighter tip, the reason why I play Soul Calibur in the first place is because a friend of mine got SC2 for Gamecube just because Link was in it. Otherwise, he could care less about Soul Calibur in its totality. He thinks it sucks and is too much of a Street Figther fanboy to appreciate the nuances of SC. But to each their own. Anyways, yeah he invited me over to play one time and since then, I would beat people to a pulp at parties if they had SCII there, and eventually I saw it on sale--I did not hesitate to grab it.

I used to think I was pretty badass for beating all my friends with Siegmare because I was the only person who really ever knew what they were doing when they pressed buttons. Then SCIII came along, got really excited about it, but had no job yet. Thankfully my girlfriend at the time got it for me for Christmas, and boy did Namco go to town with their single player modes. I spent a lot of time on Chronicles of the sword because YOU GOTTA MAKE YOUR OWN TEAM OF CAS!!!

Few years down the road when SCIV came out, my SC love was at its peak so I got the collector's edition as a self birthday present, the same day I had this huge party at my house, so me and all my (SF fanboy) friends had to/got to play this new wonderful game with me all the while taking shots each time they lost a match. And of course, when I took my skills online, it wasn't very long til I realized I wasn't that great of a player and committed myself to learning half the cast and their intricate combos. Almost every night, I would play SCIV til the wee hours of pre-early-morning. I was totally hooked.

Fast forward to today, I actually had some initial resistance to buying SCV based on what I've been reading on the internet. Stuff about shortened movelists, GI costing meter, PLUS having a meter system made me think it was tryign to copy SF or BlazBlue. When I first played SCV I was sorely disappointed at Mitsu's missing relic stance, Siegfried's A+B moves in stances, and how awkward Viola felt the first time because I already wanted to main her based on videos I've seen.

It wasn't really until I had the chance to toke up with my brother one night, give SCV another chance and try out the new Hilde. The combination of my state of my mind coupled with the new Hilde's simplicity made me warm up to the game. When I got around understanding Viola and BE usefulness, I instantly subscribed for Xboxlive for the first time in a whole year and here we are today, still the SC addict I am.

What a nice history. Hope to see you around. Btw, is there any questions you'd like to ask? Or anything else you'd like to say? =)

Yes, Yoshi: what's your history?

There should be a voice saying WELCOME TO A NEW STAGE IN HISTORY every time someone posts for the first time in 8wayrun.

Now that you're part of this place you might wanna go easy on the rage quitting/booting and try to actually improve your game.

And since you've been here longer than me, you should have the common courtesy to be a little more humble in our interactions so I can feel welcome.

"Go back to GameFaqs" just because I booted you for Siegfried cockiness? Um ok...being a member of either GF or 8WR aren't mutually exclusive. Give me a break. I'll improve my game if you improve on keeping your ego in check.

Let's just say I used to be from gamefaqs and I migrated to 8wayrun(March of 2009). And I never looked back. I still go to gamefaqs sometimes, but I hardly post there since it's not as chill as here. Sure there's always jerks no matter where you go, but if one is calm and firm with a resolve, jerks usually back off.

Lose your cool, and jerks(especially skilled player ones) will enjoy provoking butthurt feelings. Take heed they do not hate you. They only tease and provoke the noob who then evolved into a scrub for saying: No ring outs or spamming and the like. The first thing to do is to cast away such thoughts and ask for help. Because if you stay stuck to those thoughts, it's best you avoid certain peeps on here since some love trolling.

I remembered getting trolled but I was still a good sport with a mind made of water. Sure I did raged, but I made sure to channel it to myself for not being a good challenge. Basically I blamed myself and sought help here. Course after asking for help, my confidence returned and the process repeats until I finally am considered a worthy challenge.

Though I'm not as good as the pros, but I have a mindset like one. Even if I get frustrated for losing so much, I never give up, I never insult my opponent for using what worked on me, and I keep charging valiantly until I win with a victory well earned or pout and say ggs. And I always ask for help when stuck....though Pocky Yoshi has been very lazy lately......*pouts for being like that*
