WS or WR?

While Rising to me makes more sense. Unless they notate it WSU (While Standing Up), I naturally assume that While Standing means while standing still. I really don't see how While Rising could be confused for anything other than what it is.

I know that new people can be confused as to what WS means, and why it's WS and not WR. Tekken can use what it wants, I don't see how that can be an excuse to use what is, in my opinion, a misleading notation.

As for Talim's conflict, wasn't her Wind Sault renamed to Air Sault for this reason? So then, I don't see why the Wind Roll couldn't also be renamed Air Roll, for the same reason. Either that, or WR could be used with a * to differentiate. It's not that hard, really...

So throw my vote to WR.

I always understood WR as "While Rising" since in SC II some moves are denoted as "While Rising." WS has always been associated to me as "While Standing Still" or neutral position. As long as some moves can still be performed "While Rising," I say stick with WR and WS for "While Standing."

WR seems more natural. I though the notation in this game for 'while running' was 22_88 and the like.

I don't think anyone has a full out run move other than sliding kicks and their variants.

Whatever the standard it is probably best, as to not confuse any MORE people by changing it up

If WS is really all the confusing can't we just say "N" for neutral? We all know 5 is the neutral position and if you're in the 5 position, you're certainly not moving anywhere. It at least solves the problem between WS and WR being "While Standing" or "While Running/Rising." Now it's just a matter of actually figuring out of WR is "While Running/Rising."

Personally, as stated above, I also thought that the 44_66 or whatever were "running" notations. Once you hit 66, you're into a dash of sorts and are not longer able to do 6(whatever). So I just think it naturally makes sense that WR=While Rising.

WS was used because Taki has a move called WindRoll which is abbreviated WR and so that was the reason for WS from SC1

"ws" vs. "wr" aside, using "N" or "5" makes no sense in any way shape or form. "While Standing" or "While Rising" refers to the state between crouching and standing while your character is returning back to standing. Just saying "N" wouldn't indicate that you had to be crouching first. It would just imply that the d-pad should be neutral when pressing the move input.

I can see how "While Rising" is the state between crouching and standing but how is "While Standing" anything else but the 5 position? If someone told me to do a "While Standing" kick, that means I'm not going to press any direction and just hit "K." If someone told me to do a "While Rising" kick, then that means I would hit "K" in the state between crouching and standing.

I don't see how "N" wouldn't make any sense.

See I dont even use the word "While"...

Rising K = while rising K...
Standing K = neutral K...

simple, easy to understand... no debates.
