I wonder if you have a suggestion of a Off-Brand Controller (Not Joystick) for the XBox360 that has a D-Pad that is better the the OEM XBox360 and Closer to the Playstation 3 Style Controller. I don't play the XBox Version, but would like to have a controller incase I play somewhere that uses a 360 and not PS3?

I don't know of any off-brand controllers that are similar to the PS3's sorry.

I'm not in your particular predicament, but I play alot of offline on my friends PS3. Switching back and forth between the two controllers is annoying and the PS3 DPAD is just so much better.

If I wasn't so lazy, I would do this: http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Fix-the-d-pad-on-the-Xbox-360-control-pad-mor/

This is a great fix to the 360 DPAD and apparently really improves it's performance. I'll get around to it eventually, but I'm still rather comfortable with the 360 stick. If you really want to be prepared, pickup a used 360 controller and do this fix.

I went through PS2 pad withdrawl at the start of SC4. I was very accustomed to a d-pad and did try that fix. It was an improvement but not perfect. I'd say it made the 360 d-pad about 50% more playable. Then I looked into 3rd party pads with a decent d-pad and the best one review wise was the hori pad i posted before, the only problem is that it is fairly hard to track down, or at least it was until a couple months ago. I finally got used to the 360 pad and gave up looking/modding.

This might be the best fighting game pad to come out for the 360. Dunno the details, but I know the stick designers who are making the SF4 arcade sticks know what they are doing. My guess is the pad will be pretty good as well. The only problem is that the R1 and RT buttons are on the face instead of the shoulder. That could be disorienting if you use all of the buttons on a ps3 controller.

You actually can put the ps3 pad / casing for the controller on a 360 controller, as soon as I can find a camera I will get you a pic of my uncles controllers, it's the same thing as a ps3 controller, just it's a 360 controller. But it's just a matter of finding the time to do it, and cutting it and such.

I have seen the Controller Swapping like you said... But I am really more intrested on the D-Pad and Button Functionality more so then looks or what have you.
Also would Controller Swap Modding like that be allowed in Tournemant play?

Also, I got to had it to Sony, That D-Pad is just about 15 years old and still there is small changes and no one in my mind has a better D-Pad for Overall Fighting Games since. The Controller itself has evolved well...

why don't you just stop being a wuss and use the 360 analogue. I use it and it's just fine...
Yes the PS3 has a better dpad but in turn it's analogues are horrible.

Because the 360 analogue feels like a shitty version of an arcade stick to me. It's just a matter of personal preference. Some people use keyboards to play fighting games and it works fine for them after all.

I used to be of the same opinion as you, but I've since changed my tune. Once you reach a certain level of play, the 360 controller can really hold you back. At least, that's been my experience so far.

I own a 360, but my friends have a PS3. I spend all of my offline gametime on the PS3 and switching back to the 360 analogue is a painful experience. It really sucks playing online at home by myself and playing like absolute balls because the 360 controller doesn't respond as well as the PS3's. Once I get "used" to it again after playing offline at my friends, it's okay, but still not as good as the PS3 dpad.

On the PS3 dpad, if you mess up an input, you know it's your fault. It's 100% accurate. 3's and 1's ALWAYS register properly. The same cannot be said about the 360 analogue or dpad.

Now that I've been totally converted, I have a really hard time playing online at home. It sucks since Soul Calibur is pretty much my favourite game of the moment. I've considered putting it down entirely on the 360 and playing offline only unless I can find some sort of controller solution. I'm going to attempt that fix I posted earlier in the thread, but it's really uncomfortable holding the 360 controller when using the dpad. It's just not going to be the same, even if I fix the dpad's accuracy.

That new SFIV controller coming out looks promising, I just wish they hadn't placed two of the shoulder buttons on the face of the controller :( It might be the best solution available when it comes for sale, but muscle memory is going to make it difficult to get used to the shoulder button placement.
