EVO: Show up for the finals, jerks.

I'm sorry if I couldn't afford the week off work and $5000 "economy" plane ticket to go to Evo. Just because someone isn't there doesn't mean they didn't want to be. You forget that some people are willing to wake up at 4 in the morning to catch the stream.

And no, Evo is run by people who get money are gear from Sponsors. Sponsors want a larger audience in regards to advertisement, and the Online people are by and far the larger Audience.
Look at the superbowl. You think everyone who actually cares about the result of the superbowl actually goes to see it? Do you really think that the people running the superbowl don't care about the billions in advertising revenue they get because of the larger audience watching on TV rather than in the stadium?

You need to take a midol before you hop on the internets runis, lol. Nerd rage!

i'll try to steer this thread back to OP.

Huge turn out of SC fans, SF4 crowd was even impressed and watched it rather than walk out to do something else, and The crowd was really hyped. Lot of emotion in every win and loss.

You people talk about the booing, but I am pretty sure I heard a lot more cheering.

People didn't boo the game they booed Hilde.

The Calibur crowd for finals was damn loud (me included, lol) so it was awesome -- whether it be booing or cheering ~

Most the people I talked to there had a blast =)

I have to agree. It was "good" booing. Logik and I kept cheering for Cedric, though. One day I'm going to record Hates' commentary during matches and overlay that shit onto the vids. Hates commentary > all.

=( I was cheering for Cedric in the stream, but was drown out by several thousand messages of "ringout bitch". I TRIED.

Look i was the crowd commentator during finals
and did commentary with aris for semis on the stream
but anyways shenrei watch the fuckface name calling, i dont play that

as far as me booing. if you were there you would know the crowd was booing hilde on their own
(crowd enjoyed watching the underdogs)
IRL im cool with RTD and semen and i told them its all love
i wanted to keep the crowd hype and into it
i even let the french malek fans cheer in french into the mic
and malek told me he heard it and said thnx
much props to the winners

the haters are the javachat people that WERENT there and jus dont know
YJDK=you just dont know

Seriously. Booing Ceirnian each time he won a round against Malek and cheering Malek on whenever he won a round? And then doing that same shit during Thugish's last set against Malek?

That's a great way to support the EVO finalists that are representing YOU, fuckheads.

im daring you to call me a fuckhead
and see what happens

It's tiring seeing people around my age still trying to act "hard," whether or not it's online or in real life. Everytime it happens, I laugh a little inside. We get it - you like portraying the image of someone tough and "gangsta" because it makes you feel cool and raises your spirits when you show everyone how tough you are. That's great. Keep it up.

Now you daring me to call you a fuckhead? Why would I want to do that? First of all, it doesn't benefit me in any way. If it did, then yeah, I would. Second, it would probably cause some back-and-forth ramifications between you and I, and that would just be a superficially poignant waste of time for me, and for you. I have better things to do than to spend my time on things I don't really care about.

Now, I apologize if I offended anyone (including you) with my expressed opinion earlier, but I'm not taking it back because I feel it was justified given the circumstances that led up to that point, and also that I was by far not the only one that felt that way at the time.

It's one thing for the regulars in the SC tournament community to boo in jest like when Thugish picked Hilde in the second match against Malek, but it's another for people who clearly have no grasp of the game to use it as a chance to bash the game. None of the SC players who were there in person did the booing out of malice, nor were they the ones who booed every time RTD or Cedric got a RO. Those were the same people who used Hilde as an excuse of either not playing or not getting good at the game, they are scrubby and will stay that way as long as they act like that. Hilde should never have been considered for a ban. KDZ showed by learning to play against top tier that him as a player and the game as a whole has been elevated to a higher level, which is how every fighting game should be.

Also I thought Cha Cha did a very nice job on the commentary and really used layman fighting game concepts to show the depth of SC to players not familiar with it. He was able to add to the enjoyment of the matches for people who don't play the game and probably convinced quite a few people to pick up the game. What more could you ask for.

haha thanks for the props from those who "knew". To Nori and people who always just talk shit to talk shit, I will say your opinions are your own and luckily nobody cares about them :)

For clarification on the commentary:

They didn't bring me in to be a hype man or a stand up comedian, they also did not bring me in to do play by play (though I tried at points anyways) Keits was supposed to be the play by play guy and Skisonic was supposed to be the hype guy, we all had our jobs...
They told me they wanted a player who knew the game well, who could clarify to people unfamiliar with SC4 what exactly is going on, and to help give insight on character choices, player backgrounds and match results. Which I think I did. How well I did, is debatable of course. It was my first time doing it and I'd love to do it more and get better at it, since I don't have the time/competition to devote to the game as a 'top player' anymore.

But to all those who were actually there, thanks for the support. I enjoyed watching the finals and being a part of the event, our community did really well to rep itself.

As for sc4 being back next year? Likley not as a main evbent. Tekken 6 and Blazblue will definately be main games, and they need to drop 2 games off the main roster for them, and my estimation is 3rd Strike and SC4 (from what i heard as well). I will do my best to lobby our community to the Cannons, since they are cool guys and see if they will hear us out on why SC4 should still be a main game. We'll see what broken destiny brings us.

cha cha

Props for keeping the commentary bearable, Cha-Cha. We had a viewing party at my house, and we were screaming at the Street Fighter bias on those other two guys. You really anchored the proceedings.

Some very entertaining play, too. Love that Zasalamel.

To Nori and people who always just talk shit to talk shit
Yeah, I highly doubt you are more liked in the community than me dude. And if you think I'm "talking shit" just for the sake of it, my entire points went completely over your head. If you are confused, go back a few pages, don't know what else to say on that. I'm certainly not the only one who thinks the booing wasn't smart and I've been to 2 Evos, so save the "derka derka, you had to be there" lame excuse. It is what it is at this point, doesn't matter. Hopefully SC4 comes back next year, but I doubt it will.

Nori dude, what is your problem man. We've met, we have a mutual respect for eachother, but man you're just ragging on and on. You call Chach on his commentary, which was uncalled for. You moaning over and over about some booing that was all in good fun, now you're calling some kind of popularity contest? Are you having a bad weekend or what dude?

Hates was there, he said the booing was all in good fun. Let's rip Hates to pieces. Dang dude, let stuff go.

Evo is all about 2D. If 3D gets in, cool, but 2D is always the focus. Just seems like people are trying to kiss up so SC4 can be there. Last I checked, people were peeved bacause Evo set their date the week before Nats when Nats was set well in advance. Not trying to take anything away from them either.

To me, Evo showed the strength of our community. Some of you are making way more out of the booing than it really is, and just sticking to it no matter what. For real, get me RTD and Ced and Thugish to come up here and say that the booing really hurt their feelings and made them feel bad and you got a case. They are pros, cool guys, and most likely took it all in stride.

There is a rejuvination in SC4 right now after all those great matches and surprises, with nats coming up this weekend. Will SC4 survive till next evo? Here's hoping people that were going to quit are reconsidering.

Good job to all the placers, commentators, hype crowds, and everyone who made it one hell of a weekend.

I wasn't expecting the booing at all, and I honestly have no idea how much it affected me when I played. All in all it probably did make the top 8 much more hype than it would have been without the booing since the non-sc players had something to 'mob mentality' about. There was the good and the evil, it was like a wrestling match like some have mentioned. I personally would have preferred the booing be replaced with cheering (like when people were cheering KDZ compared to people booing when I started a combo) but either way it's all good.

Was a very fun tournament, however all that booing may end up bringing the downfall of you all at nationals.

Ah, I believe someone did mention "Revenge of the Hilde's" at Nats. Looking forward to you and RTD's adjustments at Nats. Nice run thru the brackets too.
