I'm not getting too excited over Highschool of the Dead. Yeah, I'm only two episodes in, but what has taken place has all been, at this point, already done in zombie flicks and the like. The animation is pretty damn solid, I'll give them that; not just the tits and pantsu, art style in general is pleasing to the eyes.

Asobi ni Iku yo surprised me quite a bit, was expecting fanservice, but got alien conspiracy, so I'm looking forward to see where that goes.

Shiki, I already read the first chapter of the manga so I knew what was gonna happen; it doesn't look like the animation is too good for this show, but we'll see how the story plays out.

Ookami-san, is pretty standard-fare anime. Lamp-shading galore.

See you're looking at it wrong. Highschool of the Deads direction may have been done in zombie flicks before, but it has NEVER been done well in anime or even animated form before. It doesn't matter that it's happened in film, it hasn't happened in toon form and it's doing it a solid.

I Finally got around to watching X/1999. I'm on the 2nd disk and it's really fun so far. Lot's of characters to keep up with though, But they all have good American VA's! Bridget Hoffman V^.^

episode 3 of Highschool of the dead....

i'm really beginning to dislike all of the characters... seriously. I just can't wait for all of them to die so they can all just shut the fuck up already.

i'm not sympathetic to any of these characters and the show isn't really doing a good job of making me care about them.

seriously... you're goin to sit there, bitch and moan about some shit that i have no clue what you're bitching about... and you're surrounded by zombies that react to sound. fucking brilliant. let's not get to a safe place and talk no. let's bitch and moan while we're surrounded by zombies. and why is the pink haired bitch constantly yelling? just hit her with a baseball bat and just her up for fucks sake.

i'm glad they established some ground rules for the zombies but again... i don't give a shit about any of these characters. so it's like just die already.

by the way... i enjoyed zombieland. and i couldn't help but employ some of the rules... just got on the bus and didn't check the back seats... that was lucky... no double taps? props for seat belt. and we can't forget... cardio.

In regards to Highschool of the Dead, the only thing that series has going for it is the fanservice. You can easily get the violence elsewhere. Too bad the actual artist, who illustrated the manga and who's art the anime mimics, is a hentai artist, anyway (Inazuma). So if you're in it for the fanservice, you're honestly better off just looking at his easily found hentai works on the interwebs, lol.

Granted, I have nothing against the writer himself, but you can't expect me to take this series seriously when you have illogical and random pantie shots and boob bouncing happening nearly every cut. And that's my main problem with HOTD. It takes itself too seriously for the main gimmick it uses (large amounts of tits and ass JUST BECAUSE). If it wasn't for that, I'd might enjoy HOTD a lot more than I do now (which is "not at all").

In other news, in case you all didn't know (but you should and shame on you if you didn't) Satoshi Kon passed away. Great mind behind Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, <3 Paranoia Agent <3, etc.

His final statement letter before his death was posted and it's a very depressing but inspiring read.

When I started reading it this track (
) popped up and started playing on iTunes as I read and I tried really fucking hard to hold back the tears. I'm really going to miss his work.

R.I.P. Satoshi Kon. :(

EDIT: I'm going to rewatch Paranoia Agent now.

Oh fuck there was an anime thread? Where have I been?? anyways as I have mentioned in another topic I only watch SOL, Romance and sometimes horror. Of course sometimes its will be merged with fantasy, but it doesn't bother me.

However, I might make an exception for the anime Angel Beats. I have seen mixed reviews of either its was disappointing or really good (choosing his final relationship maybe?) The art looks really good and the story doesn't sound shabby.

However what I really would like to know is another SOL/Romance anime to watch after I am done High School Girls. Any suggestions?
