Soul Calibur 5: Resurrect a Soul

CountValentine

[08] Mercenary
If you could bring back one of the storyline characters (not bonus or guest characters) from a past Soul Calibur game, who would it be?

The Clones: characters that shared a lot of moves with another character in their early appearences

1. Hwang (uses a Chinese blade, similar to Xianghua/Yunsung, last appeared in SC3: AE)

2. Li Long (uses two nunchacku, similar to Maxi, last appeared in SC3: AE)

3. Arthur (uses a katana, similar to Mitsurugi, last appeared in SC3 as a bonus character)

4. Kunimitsu from the Tekken series (uses a kunai, similar to Yoshimitsu/Taki, last appeared in Tekken Tag)

The Mimics: characters who mimic another character's fighting style each round

5. Edge Master (last appeared in SC)

6. Charade (last appeared in SC2)

7. Olcadan (last appeared in SC3)

The Bosses: the final bosses in Arcade mode, some of which have been playable

8. Inferno (mimic with some exclusive moves, last appeared in SC3: AE)

9. Abyss (uses scythe, similar to Zasalamel, last appeared in SC3: AE)

10. Night Terror (uses Soul Edge type weapon, similar to Nightmare/Seigfried, last appeared in SC3: AE)

The ones I'd most like to see are:

1. Kunimitsu (I know she's from Tekken, but Namco own the rights to her, and she'd fit in better in SC).
2. Hwang.
3. Edge Master/Charade

I'd rather see any of them return rather than more bonus characters (I'd rather have 3rd costumes for existing characters than more bonus characters).

the problem with clones is that one will end up way superior than the other (kilik/mina, amy/raph or asta/rock) but here's hoping they dont over nerf by splitting moves.

Just seeing hwang makes me think of 3aa...*shudders*

Id love to see Charade back...he was in BD, so i guess hell be in SC5?

Abyss for sure. I never played with him but i've seen videos, and having a balanced higher tier Zasalamel type character makes me drool.

I want all of them to return. Hwang, Night Terrer, Inferno, Abyss, Charade, Li Long, Arthur, Olcadan, Edge Master, and Seong Mi-Na's dad Seong Han Myeong. I think they should have never removed them in the first place.

Bring back night terror, nightmare now seems more basses than intimidating - I miss the terror, so so evil :)

Yeah, there is a danger of that, but it doesn't have to be the case. In SC1 Mina felt like a poor man's Kilik, but in SC2, I thought they were both fun to play as in their own right. It just requires careful balancing -and these days you can always patch.

That said, given that Tekken is apparently much more popular then SC, maybe they should be adding Kunimitsu, Kuma/Panda, and Mokujin to appeal to the Tekken fanbase (they'd all work within the SC universe).

Kilik was a Mina clone thank you very much.

Maybe so, but since the start of SC, characters like Kilik/Asta have always been on the default lineup, whereas Mina/Rock have been unlockable characters, and at times haven't made the lineup, and in SC1 seemed to have smaller movelists.

It used to be the same in Tekken, where the sub boss characters were basically clones with smaller movelists, but as the series has progressed, the design team have fleshed out characters like Anna/Lee so that they have a more unique and interesting fighting style.

I've played SC 2 lately and there i saw that a lot of SC4 Lizardman moves are actually stolen from Spawn. Like 33A, A+B and 6K.

Back to topic:
I really think that Hwang and Li-Long should return.
A random character like the Edge Master would also be nice.
I'd love Kunimitsu as a new Tekken guest.
And i want Algol to return in a less bubble boss bullshitty way because i like the part of the weapons coming out of his body.
And what about Necrid?
And about the characters that were only mentioned in the SC story like Rothion, Bangoo or Toki?

SC(DC) Mina and Kilik were both on the same level imo.

But that idea with Kuni in SC... Yeah that would be cool.

Id fancy myself some hwang action. The man with the 3AAB, aGI on crack, SCCs and other cancel shenanigans. He was so much fun to play.

Hwang! I will never never ever understand why he was taken out in the first place. Compelling story (at every turn he is forced to choose between duty and what he knows to be right) and one of the most fun and balaced fighting styles in the game! Sorry, but SC just isnt SC to me without him.

I understand if team soul had nothing more say as far as his story went, so they leave him out of the main arc, but keep the moveset alive atleast so people that compete with him actually still can. How hard would it have been to put him in as a bonus character again?

.... Anyways im done with my tirade lol.

I vote hwang.
