Xianghua's Uncertain Future

With SCV around the corner, what will be in store for Chai Xianghua? Will Namco rescue her storyline from the forgotten trenches of 16th Century warfare?

To summarise:

X was taught slick sword skillz by her mother, from the moment she was old and strong enough to hold a sword. She learned up to 10 years old, when her mother sadly got sick and died.

You see, X's ma was a child prodigy, trained at a super-awesome monk temple, and surpassing most of the teachers at swordplay while still young. Presumably she was also a piece of ass, as she was getting regular pork sword from a sex pest called Kong, who was also pretty nifty with the bo staff (think an older, uglier Kilik).

Things didn't turn out too well for the young lovers, as poor Xiangfei (as she was known) got pregnant, and one of the more worldly monks must've noticed, 'cos they took her baby after 2 years of nurturing. She went back to her wealthy family, heartbroken and dejected, demanding that virile Kong continue to train at the temple.

Kong thought it'd be better to steal Soul Calibur (which the monks kept at the temple as a sacred relic) and give it to Xiangfei, even though it changed to a battered, sorry looking blade by the time he gave it to her. He promptly left the temple in much shame and dishonour.

In the meantime, young Xianglian trained at the temple, never knowing of her shameful past, and making very very very very very good friends with a young orphan named Kilik (though their relationship was purely plutionic, the SC developers assure us).

Unfortunately things were never going to end while for little Xianglian either. When the lad Siegfried decided to pick up the inert Soul Edge (at the end of the first game), this action completely plausibly sent random pockets of people around the world completely mental. One such pocket was the assembled monks at the Ling-Sheng Su temple, and they all proceeded to kill each other, except for lucky Kilik who was protected by Xianglian throwing her inherited mirror of awesomeness, the Dvapara Yuga, around his shoulders. He returned the favour by murdering her, along with lots of other bloodthirsty monks, awaking to find he was the only one left. (Disclaimer: certain important details have been left out here for the sake of space)

What Xiangfei hadn't told anyone all those years ago is that she'd left the temple carrying Kong's second child. So X grew up knowing nothing of her older sister or drunken father.

Anyway, undeterred by the passing of her mother, X carried on training, got to join the Imperial Guard, went on a secret mission to find Soul Edge, met Kilik and Maxi, single-handedly beat the Inferno, thereby sealing away Soul Calibur and Soul Edge for a time, and then didn't tell anyone.

That was an abbreviated version of her awesome SC1 story. Now for 2, 3, 4...

X wants Kilik to do naughty things to her. Kilik is too busy playing with his rod. Zas busts up Kilik and X is frickin' too scared to fight him. X is full of doubt. The end.

X now (and by now I mean around 1595 A.D.) waits patiently for SCV to come out, in the hope that she hasn't been completely abandoned to the character recycling bin for teenage dating novels and softcore FanFics about lesbian romps with Seong Mina.

Do you have any ideas for X's story to develop a little this time around? (I guess we should be thankful that she's even still in it up to now)

I think SC4 pretty much squashed any hope of X returning to her former glory. Yeah, its sad but all I'm expecting from her in 5 is a confirmed pairing with Kilik. And that's really... about it.

Wait, Kilik killed X's sister?

No jokes. Kilik is a bad MF. He has killed a lot of people. But it was because of the "Evil Seed" (ooooh the horror, the horror) which drove many martially skilled people nuts. But X doesn't know she even had a sister, so what she doesn't know...

Besides, X has killed a shit ton of people herself - eg my Siegfried ~_~

She should finally see what a jerk Kilik is and leave him.

Well yes, Kilik killed Xianglian(Xianghua's older sister she knew nothing about). But it was self-defense/he had no choice. Why? The evil seed in SC1 drove all monks crazy...including Kilik. Xianglian was wearing that sacred artifact around her neck and was unharmed(The necklace Kilik wears in SC4). However, she watched Kilik who was like a little brother to her go nuts. So she made a noble decision and let him wear it. In return, she went crazy due to the evil seed and let Kilik survive. So if Kilik tells this to Xianghua, she will more than likely forgive him. Only because she loves Kilik enough to disappear with him(As shown in SC4's ending). Anyways, correct me if I'm wrong on the summary =p

Spot on. Xianghua's potential forgiveness is speculation!! But probably true, she really is lame these days. Anyway, looks like it doesn't matter because she'll be 37 for the next one. Either a weighty matron or just cut from the cast. Probably a Kilik/Xianghua sprog or, even worse, a Xianghua/Maxi sprog will replace her. Broken heart/rebound etc.

No emotional confrontation with Kong! No coming to terms with her unknown sister!

Dark times

I think pretty much all the girls are doomed. We're talking about Namco here. Tekken "killed" off all the women, and kept all the men from early games. I think you can expect to see Amy and Talim, no one else. Ivy is possible if they pull some Nina/Anna crap.

Wait, Kilik killed X's sister?
Wait I thought Kilik only killed his own sister as the last person in his clan after the Evil Seed? She was putting the amulet on him to calm him down as he was killing her or somethin. I wonder why they got rid of that amulet in the later games, it never said anything about him learning to control the darkness that was dwelling in him.

Dammit Namco, keep the story on point!

Xianglian was Kilik's 'sworn sister', they grew up together as orphans in the martial arts temple. They were best best best best friends with absolutely no sexy time.

Xianglian's mother however had no issues with shacking up with the previous large-rodded bo master . She got pregnant twice, first with Xianglian, second with Xianghua. She left the temple after Xianglain was taken from her, but Xianghua hadn't been born yet. So the sisters never knew each other even existed.

About the Dvapara-Yuga, I think they said something about Kilik learning to control the evil after much training with Edge Master (who can contain it within his own body). However Maxi's story says that he can't travel with Kilik because the Dvapara-Yuga clashes with the shards of Soul Edge embedded within his body. Apparently Kilik got a new shard of Dvapara Yuga from Edge Master

Ahhhh, it all makes sense now, thanks!

So what about Maxi then?! Seeking revenge after Asta for so long did he just give up on the chase?! I never understood why I saw Cassy and Sophie fighting Asta in the SCIII opening and not Maxi. I know about him not traveling with Kilik and X anymore but did he just give up that revenge?

Grrr this is the X forum... Maxi questions now? Just kidding!

Maxi will never give that up, because the writers couldn't be bothered to develop anyone's story post SCII. He continues to pursue Astaroth at the expense of his own life but there's no real (objective) drive any more. Most characters have very deep stories in SE and SC but developments in II, III and IV can be passed off in one line usually. This time Maxi is somewhat manipulated by Tira into hunting down Soul Edge and Astaroth yet again, but there's no clear indication how or why.

I am thinking of writing out the whole SC story up to the present, or at least up to the end of SC I, if anyone's interested, but it will be pages and pages and pages - think Great Wall of text.
