I think we can expect some characters to simply be gone entirely. It's unlikely they'd create enough new characters to fill in all the gaps.

Forgot to say that Cervantes and Astaroth are also a safe bet... Astaroth being a golem made by human hands and having few years on his backs and Cervantes being a spectre or whatever he is who simply do not die by normal means.... I think he is immortal.

Yep, Asta and Cervantes really should return.

no,

no, it was confirmed that Sigfreid's will be the only correct ending in the game.

Can't be. In his ending, Siegfried crystallized (as Soul Calibur was sustaining him from his mortal injuries in the last fight in SC3) himself and the entire tower. It'd have to be an ending combination of Hilde's, his and perhaps another (Kilik/Xianghua?) in order for him to be alive in SC5.

Thinking about it, nearly all Soul Calibur sequels take a combination of endings to canonized in the sequel. In Soul Edge, it was Sophitia's, Taki's, and Siegfried's. In Soul Calibur, it was the Trio's (Maxi, Kilik and Xianghua). In Soul Calibur 2, it was Raphael and Siegfried. In SC4, it's likely assumed to be Siegfried's and Nightmare's since SC4 happens mere months after SC3's (heck, Talim and Yun-seong never got to their ending in SC3 and were still looking for the sword). Many characters were still following the SC3 story lines in SC4 ("when along came a tower...").

I'm fine with a reboot, to be honest. I doubt there's anymore they can really do with the current cast outside of them still chasing after the sword (Mitsurugi/Yun) and leaving feelings left unrealized (Xianghua/Kilik) or still obsessed with revenge (Maxi/Setsuka). New characters means new motivations and new legacies. The new cast can be descendants of the old cast or entirely new characters as long as the styles of old return in the new game with new tweaks and twists to their game play.

How awesome would it be to see female Kilik, or a younger face on Cervantes' style? I wonder what Taki's fighting style would look like on a male character (male ninja) or Setsuka's on a fully realized samurai? And everyone's eager to see Bangoo make his appearance into the series.

I suspect the only mainstays would be characters that are probably just too cool to drop. Character's like Siegfried, Mitsurugi, Yoshimitsu (or his successor), Zasalamel, and Cervantes. The rest of the cast will probably be all new, with their fighting styles inherited from their predecessors.

as 3 characters you mention are immortal, Mitsurugi because I think if it is popular but these are popular not only

See that's the thing though, if you don't get rid of some characters you can never really make legitimate sequels. And a roster of 50 something unique characters for SC is next to impossible to balance. Tekken 6 has 40 something characters...only a handful of these characters are actually unique in fighting styles. For a game like SC where weapons are the discipline it's very hard to balance a huge roster of new and old characters.
And I hate clone characters, a waste of money that can better be spent else where.

In SC

We have Hwang(now gone)
Xianghua and Yun Share his moveset.
Assassin in SC2.

LiLong(also gone)
Maxi replaced him

Then Sophitia
Lizardman in SC2
Cass shared her moveset.

Rock
Astaroth was created from him.(much superior char)
Berserker in SC2.

Seong Mina
Kilik shares similar moveset

Siegfried
And Nightmare split into 2.(Legit Part of the story)

Raphael new in SC2
Amy new in SC3 direct copy
In SC4 she just straight up robes and gains better stuff.

Mitsurugi and Yoshimitsu are both similar in away too.

I'll rather see all the old cast b replaced wit a new roster!! I feel that if we get new characters, all the players wood start from scratch and have to learn each character. I LOVE TAKI! but if she leaves, den im hopping on the next ninja asap...

maybe ivy spermjacks siegfried and has his baby, she finally finds some happiness, but then cervantes possesses her son...

Clones are fine, at least namco style clones >>

The perfect example being Lizardman. Look where he started and where he's ended up.

Yeah yeah Synraii we all know you got first dibs.
As much as I would love to keep some of the old cast getting some new blood would be nice. Keep the immortals in the game because they're immortal but kill off Amy, bitch needs to die anyway so lets make it dramatic- AIDS from sucking the blood of a monkey sounds about right for her. The younger cast like Talim and Yun should make a comeback with adult features like facial hair or trademark giant tits.

And how would Ivy get happiness form that again? Ivy doesn't want a kid because of her cursed blood. Or am I just looking too far into this. . . I must sleep.
