SoulCalibur V Interview with Producer Tago-san

The game looks a bit different in motion now. The graphics and character movements are starting to look unique and not just a complete copy from SCIV.

Sweet lord this looks so fluid! My jaw actually dropped at the speed of the exchanges/sidestep - even Ivy's forward step at the beginning of the gameplay. Also, did I see some hints towards a Soul Guage mechanic? Ivy's life bar was flashing yellow at one point I think...

Guarantee people are going to whine about the translator...ingrates -_-

Damn it... have to wait till after the meeting is over (still at work). I only caught glimpse of the video without sound. Seeing her in action, looks great. I like to know if they added any additional movesets. But overall looks nice. Ohh and she still struttin' her sexy ....

She still looked "early" to me. Kind of how they only showed Mitsurugi doing 4-5 different moves. But they did show off Summon Suffering and Criminal Symphony.

Uhh...you know, having them consider storyline may actually be a good thing, considering how badly the SC4 story sucked. Not to mention, I wouldn't mind a couple of characters being added/removed because of it. Take Algol, for example, who was not only overpowered, but was the primary boss character, or maybe Hilde, who can also be considered overpowered. I wouldn't mind seeing even Amy go because of her frame advantage, but since she's been in 2 straight titles, I doubt it.

They still seem a little unsure about how to handle the meter. Sometimes they'll get meter for being hit, other times they won't. Also, does it seem like Mitsu gets meter for teching at about 1:17?

The lifebar flashing at 1:40 seems to indicate a guard crush of some sort, and also notice at about 1:33 that Ivy's lifebar changed colors after dropping below a certain point. I don't remember there being anything like this in past SCs, but I could be wrong.

The color of the lifebar changing when someone is on low health is something new to me. The lifebar flashing yellow looks like some form of guard break. They're probably still trying to figure out what to do with the Critical Edge meter.

I need to see more.

Ivy is so freaking ugly. I don't know why she's so "popular". I can't wait to discover a million ways to auto GI her with Xianggy or whoever takes her place in this game.

Also, I noticed the health bars decrease in larger increments this time around. D: That's horrible. It'll make the fights shorter and less exciting. What about the fun of the fight itself? I'm not liking this new game one bit.

It still takes place on planet fight too. *sighs* We need some more interaction with the surroundings. Are there only two people in a world at one time? Gimme a break..

Keep in mind some of the flashes may be a form of special mode as well. I'll be trying her out at EVO though!

So her sword ring/coil transform is gone... Kinda bummed about that. Have to wait and see how she plays.

Pasting this from before.
First of Ivy will be the Best. She is pretty much going to be the main character, like how originally it was going to be intended. As Namco wants her for SC6 and so on.

Any lot of interesting stuff.
Right Now SS and CS come from SW. SS now has Ivy normal Throw start animation. CS now has SS throw start animation. They seem to do the same damage in SC4. Her normal B grab seem to do a bit more damage.

She has a new attack after CL 33B. 214B still has big side step it now come from SW.

CL is now remove. She is going back to her SW and WP stance like in SC3. I think it a good thing cause CL looked weird. Her side stepping seem to be very good. Maybe not as good as SC4 CL stepping, but similar to SC4 SW stepping.

One thing that is very troubling is that they might make Ivy easier to use. I really hope not, Ivy should always be a very difficult character to use. That what make her so fun.

The main character is Patroklos, but maybe in future SC she may take over the role as main character.

I still think the Red and blue flashes are EX moves, and the color reflects what effect the EX is giving the move.

About the flashing yellow bar, my personal suspicion is that its the 'now you can be CE'd warning'... Since Daishi said there was some triggering factor beyond just having meter. It doesn't seem to be a low life warning, doesn't always happen in the footage.

Once I get home in 12ish hours or so I'll translate it.

Glad everyone is receiving this positively and I encourage everyone to keep an open mind regarding gameplay changes. The series is going to be a lot of fun again.

That's what I am hoping for because there's just too much negativity out there towards Soul Calibur which I would love to see go away.

I don't know about you, but I actually prefer it to be that way. Makes you much more careful on everything you do. And I'm pretty sure the life will be adjustable, as with almost every other FG around.

Semen has hit the ground when he said Soul Calibur 6 7 and 8. But I digress, if Ivy is becoming a more prominent character in the story line, does that mean Cervy will play a big part in it being her father and all. Of course that new guy kind of looks like he could be tied up with her.
