Experience with Japanese players

Possibly a new-guy question, but I'm a new guy. And I'm curious, how many of you have been to japan, or recently played japanese sc4 players (on an extended basis)? I heard akihabra (sp?) is the place to go for the best players and competition.

Oh those of you who have been, how do they play differently than us?

There are quite a few people here in Asia :D IMO there isn't as much a divide or difference between SC players, as there is in say Guilty Gear (this needs to fuckin' change!) and some Street Fighter playstyles. ...but who am I to talk, as I've no experience in this outside of hearsay :/

It's not the Japanese players you have to worry about, it's the Koreans. They have the "win" button.

(I can't remember who came up with that)

Actually apart from Tekken.
Japan is pretty much the "FORCE" to worry about in Soul Calibur and VF5

Koreans don't even touch them when it comes to both games.
Singapore has a couple of players in both games which IMO, could make the Korean players run for their money. But we haven't seen any Shen Chan/Yuan vs Kura matches yet, so I can't say for sure.

But yeah, when it comes to RTS or MMORPG.
Korea has the "win" button by ethnic descend.

How are people like Koreans and Japanese so good at video games? I dont get how they get that good, but mabye thats because I dont take anything truly hardcore serious. Although I have played against DuskBringer in person (He was apparantly the top ranking player online in the PS3 realm at the time, which was a few weeks ago), and he is not a scrub. (I know this because he could pick any character and wipe the floor with them, It was like he had what every character could do memorized).. But hes not Asian either, and hes Canadian, lol.

The main tip he gave me was to play as other characters and learn thier combos and movesets... Well I guess ill have to shelf nightmare for a bit, lol.

I think its more of a culture thing, as in that video gaming is more socially accepted as a positive recreational activity compared to other parts of the world.

Basically they have a large pool of players and they generally don't frown upon anything "cheap." Generally, everything goes when it comes to the Japanese. So either adapt or die. I recommend people to try play there if they can. It can be eye opening.

lol, I see we have the same mindset then, as I play the same way. My other general philosiphy is that if you think something is cheap, you just dont know how to beat it. My main problem is my memory, where I forget some of the moves while im actually fighting, and then ill remember them after the match, or ill just suddenly remember or forget some of the better punishing attacks or something like that.

ppl play sc in japan? I heard in comparison to all the Dojin fighters, guilty gear, VF and Tekken, Soul cal doesn't really have a place.

It's got a small, hardcore, dedicated following there. Most of the players in the SC scene there have been playing from at least SC2.

I see everyone give those japanese people props. Which is fine, but CY will this into response to the jaapnese Soul calibur players out there. I don't hate you, but I don't give a freaking Ivy get rape apple who you are. I'll take you on. I'm ain't of no japanese players. Tell all of this hye all you want. I must do combat with someone from japanese to find out for myself.

Seriously, I've seen you type decently well.. what the hell happened here.
And stop trying to sound "cool".. what the hell do you mean by "freaking Ivy get rape apple"... do you think that sounds cool? Its crude, vulgar and just outright weird.. Even the people who dig that kind of stuff would take offense to that.

Watch your language, I mean that both in context and grammar.

Sorry to tell you this, but DuskBringer is in fact a scrub. He faced Dino and Oofmatic many times online and loses to them. He then claims that they were using 'cheap'/'scrub' tactics on him.

There was also talk on the caliburforums about him being the #1 internet scrub so here's the link: http://www.caliburforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34440.

I apologize for derailing this topic, but the truth must be told!

Going back on topic I know Linkrkc and DevilJim are two of the American participants that attended the SBO tourney in Japan. Though they didn't win, the issue could be is that Japanese were practicing the Ver C arcade of SC3 while the American's were only practicing Ver B because it was the only arcade version available in North America.

Nope. Issue was that they were playing american console version as compared to Ver C AE. Basically, they went from the earliest version of the game to the newest. So yeah. It's not really any surprise they lost. Lol.
