SC5 Voldo Wishlist and Discussion

Question about Voldo players andwhat they'd pr

Tier didn't bother me in any other game, so it wouldn't bother me here.

^^this.

tier doesnt matter to me. if people dont use him then its their loss.
i think voldo is an EXCELLENT character.

all i ever see online most of the time are ivy players (cuz thats the cool thing to do apparently), nightmare/siegfried players (cuz theyre uber strong and have low grabs), and the dreaded overpowered kilik and cervantes players.

the world needs more voldo, setsuka, amy, tira love imo lol.

This world does not need anymore Amy love, ever.
Jesus christ this a million times.

I've played sc4 almost solely online so this is coming from an online scrubs view, but I've honestly never heard people saying they dont play v because hes too hard to play in sc4, only that they think hes repulsive. Hell, I've been kicked out of rooms for being "too gay". It's not my fault namco gave him the excellent face raper throw and BS 66K.

Also I'd have no problem with v becoming less powerful, solely because I think its a lot more fun playing a character where it may take a chunk effort to win. Not that it doesn't in sc4, but v have a much much easier time (relentlessly) forcing his game on people than other characters I play. Sometimes it's pretty brainless. But I play online so whatevs, my cents sort of counts for shit.

Oh, so she doesn't go very in depth at all, but here are some tidbits from Kayane's experience with the demo

Voldo changes

"He has a new low : 1A : It’s fast, I think just as Xianghua’s 1A and around the same damages (around 20?) and that makes him automatically in BT. (Back Turn)

1B doesn’t make the opponent stand up anymore.
6B, B doesn’t exist anymore: 6B only. "

I'm happy that he gets more things to help him into BS, hopefully it stays fast.

The loss of some 1B mixups kind of sucks, and he's had that move for forever so I'm not so sure that it will stay out.

No 6B,B makes me sad, only because he needs as much movement into BS as possible. But once again this isn't anything game-breaking.

It's still an early build of Voldo, they may not have added attack throws for him yet. I can't imagine him not having 1(b) anymore. It's a staple move. I'm going to stay positive.

I saw someone do some sort of command throw with Voldo on SCIV the other day. Looks pretty sick, I hope it's in V. Anyone know the input? It looked like Lizardman's CF when he spins on top of his opponent.

it's blind stance 66A+G. On male characters he will do Sophies 66g+a grab, and on female characters he will do the bloody drill. Really unique throw. I'm pretty sure he will have that throw as well. It's another one of Voldo's staple moves.

Thanks, I love the look of it either way.

Although I stand by my previous comment, 66A+G needs a B grab to mix up with. It doesn't happen often enough to be an issue but I'm uncomfortable with the fact that this grab can always be broken on reaction in principle.

Yeah lol. It's ALWAYS been an A break in every Calibur. Though the command to execute it has changed.

To be honest, this info says next to nothing. We know nothing about the rest of his arsenal, his stance transition game or how BS is maintained this time around. Got nothing to be worried (or happy) about at this point.

I remember zas having a bitchin long range poke (similar to minas FC 1B) in demo or review copies of SC3, but it got taken out in the final game, so stuff can and will change up to the very last minute.

The closer he is to a slithery, sly, deceptive, evasive character that packs lot of quick strikes and lunges the better. My view of him is to be high risk/high reward with a strong emphasis on the player being a good freestyler.

I really love the Voldo from SC3 and I feel if they combined his new landfish and callisto rush elements from SC4 and made the backturned commands less awkward he'd be gold.

That's my biggest gripe with his BT stance. The commands are mostly filler and the good ones really stood out because of intuitive commands and remarkable advantage whether by evasive frames or mixup.

Some moves didn't feel right as double tap commands, or even the direction that had to be pressed. I even think some moves of Voldo had their commands changed in every version of the game. Sc4's BT 22a comes to mind if I recall..he bends backwards and spins around as a step killer.

I didn't play before 4 so I guess I can't comment. On another note, a move I will be very upset to lose: BS 44A. Is it just me, or is this just one of the most satisfying moves to land in Voldo's whole moveset? Super long range, decent speed, some step catch, but high and whiffs at shorter ranges. Only really ever lands as a whiff punish or catching backstep. Any time you land it screams skill, and leads into a massive combo.

I know about 1% of voldo, but i'd like him to remain as one of the characters with the most balanced moveset (ie it would be a disgrace if Voldo turned into a BB, safe launcher, sweeping low character).

Out of the current roster, Voldo should be the most unpredictable moveset and style (not in the sense of pure offensive rushdown, charged delays, 50/50 mixups, g-cancel shenanigans) but I think it's most fitting if Voldo has erratic movement that makes it hard for the opponent to read what the Voldo player is planning, whether it be offense, defense or just ambiguous wiggling to confuse you.

The only way I see this possible is to have the majority of his moveset as being useable (at least 75%) so that each different Voldo player has their own play style (unlike the sisters). Obviously the trade off is that Voldo won't end up with a few moves as powerful as TAS B, asura or c3A, but then again he was never about that.
