I loved that B+K right at the beginning of the match VS X, lol. 66B is actually -16 on block.

After watching the vid, I, as a total Setsuka noob, have the following comments:

1) Your friend is very good in executing the "4K, 33B, 6K, A+K B, JF Umbrella" combo over and over! Damn! He's throwing out both the JF and normal Umbrella like nobody's business. I can't even do a single normal Umbrella. I gotta kowtow to your friend.

2) Seems that he has problems executing the B+K series a lot of times, though.
Not sure whether it's delibrate, but a lot of times he tried it, it's just the B+K part and no follow-ups. However, he managed to do a number of B+K in some of the matches under intense fire, though, so that's really skillful too.

3) After watching the video which shows the match against Raphael and Mitsu, I'm really disheartened and starting to wonder if Setsuka is really low-tier or lower-mid tier after all, like what one guy used to say here. Maybe slightly better than Talim, that's all. Sets seems to have limited moves and very bad mix-up capabilities.
Looking at the Mitsu fight, I can say that Mitsu is really a beast.
And Sets seems to be really helpless against rush-down kings like Raphael (and Amy). Your friend did quite a number of GIs against Raph, but it's still useless.
Maybe that's why people don't use Sets in really important tourneys?

Come to think of it, I wish I never watch these vids, although I gotta say your friend is very good in his Setsuka mastery! :-)

But well, since I'm not taking part in tourneys, I guess it's the character that matters most.

and yes my friend only Use setsuka all the time

1. about the combo. the most difficult part is executing the umbrella after A+K B. Setsuka isn't my main
but I found out that the timing to executing umbrella... is right after the enemy fall on bounce animation
It just my personal preferences tho. but when you found the timing it's not that hard :)

2. Yes. he still missed the silver moon combo on match. And finally he found the easier way to perform
silver moon is B+K6, 1B, 44B+K.

3.tourney usually have a different aura from casual match. Nervous will decrease your game performance expecially
performing a combo
for setsuka who rely on her umbrella combo, People will think twice to pick her. :)

@Nikar,

Disregard the people that think setsuka is low tier. They have no idea what they are talking about. Setsuka has good throw range and one of the most damaging throw games in SC4, averaging 67-70 damage on either throw. If you really want to use a low, 1A : A : A is great at 40+ damage, and CH 11A nets you 70+ damage. Once you train people to block B+K, 2A+B will also hit a lot more often due to the similar animation.

For the Raijin(sets) vs Cupui(raph) match, 4A and AA beats anything in 3B > Prep that's not SEA, but the safer option is just block prep transition > step left. After the left step, 2A vs anything that's not prep K:K, and take your free back throw if raph does prep K.

Btw, to Cupui, I didn't see your friend using any bA.
IMO, this is a very good move as it has side-stepping properties and throwing it out suddenly / randomly almost guarantees the opponent will eat it. Seems to be the most underestimated move for Sets, and it's damage is bigger than JF Umb.

Too bad bA has no JF version, though.

IMO she just lack of mix up and a hard execution on match
but her attack speed will cover her weakness

On the contrary, Setsuka has some of the most damaging mixups in the game. 1BB forces people to get up quickly. She can rushdown pretty well. I've had quite the number of people complain to me about how frustrating she is to play against. She has a shitload of moves that allow her to put constant pressure on her opponent, even during disadvantage. She has plenty of setups as well. Her FC and WR game is top. Her post-GI game is extremely good.

Be careful with bA abuse, as that move is easily punished.

yeah her mixups are insanely good IMO, all you gotta do is do a knockdown and madness begins. 1B:B and 11B hits grounded for good damage, and A+KB when they sleep for stupid damage. When they start standing up they fall into the mix up of 1B:B, B+K, 1A: A: A, and 2A+B, which does from 40+ to 90 damage.

bA should be used sparingly, and only at max range where it will be a little harder to punish. If you want a step killer I'd rather use 66A at mid-long range, 2A and 3A at close range.

For bA, I was thinking it may be a good replacement for Umb in *some* situations.

Like doing bA when your opponent falls down from the air after your agB. More damage than doing a JF Umbrella. :-D

I think there's a couple other cases where bA is good too. Seems that a lot of people can't see it coming. :-D

Seriously, if only Sets' 1A:A:A and JF Umbrella is as easy to pull off as bA, then kudos.

Also, she has this move called aB which is sudden and quick too. :-D

Damn, it seems that for every 10 Setsuka VS. xxx videos out there, at least 7 of them are showing Setsuka losing! Sigh.

I cringed each time Asura GI'd. I know the feeling, my brother's Amy can just throw out a B+K whenever he feels like it and he'll probably catch one of Setsuka's many many many mids.

It's not bad, but as a Sets player I guess I see things differently and see better things that Sets player could have done. Angrel especially - I think he has the most VS Kilik experience with Setsuka out of anyone here. But honestly, despite what a few other people are saying, I think the vid is overrated. Also, just a wild guess, but from what it looks like, I'm pretty sure that Kilik player and Sets player play against each other often.
