There's a serious problem with 3d artists in this game..

Well, indeed the 3d render art look really weird, but at least it doesn't happen the same with the in game characters models, that looks fine. Or at least imo the 3d art models doesn't look at all like the characters in the gameplay and trailers

Is only a 3d promotion art problem so...it doesn't matter at all

I agree that We don't need hyper-sexualized characters, and a little boobs reduction can be totally fine. In fact I don't get why they need to make Ivy's face look like a hooker, with the strong lipstick and all that. Altough, with Ivy, makeup on the face is hardly the main problem when it comes to the character being fap-inducing to the teenage boys.

@MammothMan, I do believe that the designing process is a long and complex one, but I still don't see why renders and arts can't look the same. We're not talking about concept art, we're talking about final 2d art of the character released when the character is revealed to the public. If they change it, they re-draw it, I don't get why the two "official images" of the character can't get along..

The concept art that you make official can't look better than or noticeably different than the 3d models.

It's just raises questions...I seriously want this game to be hella delayed.
time have little to do here

is about 3 options

1- They like it in that way
2- They don't care or not enough to bitchslap the 3d modeller and say him "i said to do exactly like this"
3- As happened to Pat and Pyrrah,they are going to be fixed in next months

I'm sure once they get the gameplay down, they'll work on the finer details and making the models less ugly. Relax.

It's a silly thing but I think it was worth mentioning. Afterall, part of what drives us toward a fighting game is wheteror not we like the characters, right?

I wish I could edit the title, put the "serious" in commas, but alas, I can't.

As long as the artwork is done anime/manga style and the in game style is more realistic, this will happen.
...and bingo to this

SC
artwork=anime
ingame=realistic/anime

SF
artwork=anime
ingame=anime

Basically a game like SF allow you to do a direct porting of design, where in SC the translation of the concept is much more complex

Said that again,fix that fucking zwei,is yet ugly enough without tranny face

As now 3d models:

Patroklos: good (giant step forward since 1st appearance)
Pyrrah: good (giant step forward since 1st appearance)
Sieg: good but i agree with Idle,make a lil bit tougher his face lines (jaw fix can help)
Mitsu: good,but like Sieg maybe sharpen a lil bit his face, seem a lil bit weaker and more "western"
Hilde: good
Ivy: good
Voldo: good,even better than artwork
Natsu: good,even better than artwork
Tira: good 3d model,but imho a lil bit weak textures
Maxi:good
Asta: good,maybe add a lil bit of muscle mass (the artwork is waay more pumped)
Viola/Amy: good
Zwei: wtf,no fix it

The problem with last SCs has always been the same, not enough freaking time in development. Namco is probably overworking these guys to meet some deadline, yet the quality of the game will determine the sales. sigh..

Quality of demos is pretty good so far, it is worrying the whole time for development of expanding characters and of course those that aren't even finalized yet.

the main problem when it comes to the character being fap-inducing
I thought they called this sex appeal? most games have it in some form, and in fighters, usually there's at least one really "fap-inducing" character; if you catch my drift.

although i do agree that there is a line that shouldn't be crossed in this department, i really don't see that line being crossed at this point and time.

I'm sure once they get the gameplay down, they'll work on the finer details and making the models less ugly. Relax.

This lol.

When the time comes, even though we're kinda concerned about it now, will you guys really be concerned with a character's appearance if the gameplay suffers and we end up with a bunch of doom combos and infinite? IMO, let namco do their thing we'll have plenty of time to complain once the final product is actually out. as much as i hate to say this (and im not saying this from a competitive perspective, but as a lifelong casual gamer):

graphics = appeal = boosted sales, HOWEVER:

gameplay > graphics

why would i want to play a gorgeous looking game if it plays like crap? hopefully you guys can understand a viewpoint like this, and maybe you'll agree with me...maybe you won't...

however, not desiring a higher standard of gameplay, and instead simply buying any nice looking piece of crap that DEV's throw at us, we lower the expected standard of quality in a video game, which leads to crappy, disappointing releases, which eventually leads into a spiral which will eventually make playing the games themselves nauseating. does anybody remember the video game crash of 1983? hmm?

with continual focus on how a game looks rather than how it plays...well you may disagree, but IMHO our current market, our video game "culture" is already headed far down this road...look at FFXIII, or any of the new call of duty games...and i kinda feel this is partly due to the way the new generation of gamers seems to judge a book by its cover. but that's just my opinion.

Perhaps Namco could say, try to turn things around and DEFY this trend? I want a good, quality calibur game, not a blatant money grab underneath a beautiful mask ^-^

It's not silly. Graphics are very important to me as well, but the game needs solid gameplay first and foremost. Once they get that down, they'll pretty up the game. Just look at Tag 2 when it was first being developed.

Just to say: graphic side and gameplay side have NOTHING in common in terms of team work and people involved, is not like ask for better graphic/style steal something from gameplay

Is not like the #26 Namco dude get forced to stop work on balance and get throwed into the art lab at design decorations on Ivy's panties

You can ask for get better graphic as possible from art guys and at the same time for better gameplay as possible from programmers. And even better music as possible from music team

I never get teh omg you care about xxx instead yyy!

As much gameplay is obviously the first thing, each team have his separate area of competence and as dude that pay money i want the best quality as possible from each team

I've noticed in the arts, the girls all have bigger boobs. It really bugged me with Tira. In her art, the strap of fabric across her boobs looks tight, yet in the render, it looks saggy and dumb. Just little things about all the renders have flaws.
Ivy's shirt, Natsu's hair/fingernails, etc.

It's simple, it's because you don't play this game competitively.
I don't go at tourney due the lack of it in my area + the rl work/girlfriend/friends/sport take a lot of my free time

but still i play the saga since SB coin op, i played tons of hours with my friends with the same love for the saga,every chapter released aside BD
Honestly i care a lot about gameplay
I care about it as the first thing,believe or not
As now prefer comment on the visual/casual side because of the gameplay side still we have nothing or nearly nothing(and maybe even not definitive), and because having nothing i prefer read the opinion of more expert posters instead throw my ignorant 2 cents

...Aaand still exist no fucking logic in that attitude,again,if you know how work a VG team(and i'm sure you know), every group of people have his area, who work on art don't work on gameplay and vice versa

So ask for better style/graphic steal absolutely nothing from wanting the best gameplay as possible,is just say to xxx workers to do theyr xxx work

Honestly to me sometimes seem more than else that tournament players "act" in that way to make clear as possible the difference between them and ignorant casuals that want just create a loli CaS,write a fanfic about her and then fap crying reading it :D

No need guys, really,the difference is clear also without being underlined

You have plenty of time to post on this site all day complaining about stuff.

How is this a problem? Every person is entitled to their opinion. Don't you think you're showing a hint of snobbery in that statement?

No because the game is going to be fine graphically. But if it plays like shit, then it's a wrap for this series.

Well, it is true that most casual players give more importance to stuff other than gameplay most of the time, but I think it's kind of discriminatory to just say "You ain't tournament-level player, you don't know shit". Yea, you top-tier player know much more, but that doesn't make us (the non competitives if you may) ignorant of the amazing world of real SC.

While I agree with you on that, I wouldn't exactly go around censoring people due to their lack of understanding of the gameplay, technical shenanigans or whatever.

I don't want to turn this thread into a clusterfuck (there are plenty of those around here, and they have started to die down - thank God, this site is much more pleasant to read without them) but remember that 'casual' and 'non-competitive' people are the ones who are pretty much responsible for SC5.

Just my two cents on the matter.
