SCV Character Creation Discussion

As I already posted elsewhere, while this video is a great preview of the highly versatile functionality of the new CAS system, I really think people should refrain from making premature judgments on the content we’ve seen so far. It is likely 1) highly edited to prevent spoilers, 2) very incomplete as they are still modeling new items to populate the lists, and 3) porting a lot of SCIV stuff possibly just for demonstration’s sake. Who knows what faces / hairstyles / equipment / presets / weapons / whatever we’ll actually get in the final version.

Heck, I don’t necessarily even imagine that that specific desolate void of a landscape will necessarily end up being the real default environment, although I do appreciate that they are trying to give you a lighting-neutral, non-distracting stage in which to design. I hope you can still preview your characters on actual stages (not just use predefined background images for the “picture” (i.e. icon).
While your points are not only valid but very true, even this alone is a great little teaser, it shows what can be done right now.
 
I actually quite liked the desolate void. It's pretty in a simple way, plus, there's nothing going on, so it's probably like that to avoid any lag or graphics disruptions when you have a bunch of crap on top of your character's outfit (I mean, the stuff we've seen so far was pretty crazy- there was a drum kit!). Though, I would like to be able to shoot the portrait at some of the real stages, instead of just a background image and clip art. (I thought the clip art part was cute though)

Yes absolutely! It takes much longer to explain the analytical points and very small concerns I may have than it does to state that this trailer has me totally hyped for CAS, so of course my actual mood isn’t communicated very well. :-)

I got what you meant ^^. You are extremely excited. However, much like myself, you are also not getting your hopes to high due to the fact we have seen very little. I am sure once 10 days pass from launch, we will see what it can do to half potential.

A background isnt needed at all for this mode ideally. Its about your character.

Im more concerened about what use these custom characters in the game. They need a mode where they will be relevant. Hopefully they get one.

Though to point out that in sc4 the lighting messed with the colors depending on the stage, thus, hard to cater to a specific color.
 
This part concerns me. Not only is this likely to alter hitboxes again, but, look at those other status effects: reach, power, speed, attack rate... Are those going to start altering the actual frames of moves now too? Or how fast the character moves? Hopefully this is all put off in some special vs equivalent and left out of the standard game.

Though it could just be a general description of the weapon style selected. Sort of like Broken Destiny attempted to classify the characters as. But it being present here and not on the weapon style selection screen seems odd if that were the case.

Capturing a 2nd frame with the middle height selected shows the same graph, but, maybe only the extremes change these.

Why is this a concern since CAS would be banned in tournaments anyway? As for online...

Solid/Legit gameplay Online? LOL

Either make a private lobby and invite people who know how to play or just play offline. You'll be fine.

Seems more like an attempt to balance out having different character heights (and therefore hitboxes). Basically by giving certain heights something in areas that would disadvantage them and taking from areas where they would have an advantage.

EDIT: Never mind. It seems the height doesn't affect the stats, at least based on those screenshots.
 
Question.... about the CAS fighting style, is it like in SC3 (CAS characters have their own unique fighting style) or like SC4 (CAS characters chooses one of the default roster's fighting style) ?

I was hoping it would be like SC4.

I was hoping it would be like SC4.

Based on what we've seen so far, it looks like it's the same way as in SC4.
 
The CaS system looks amazing O.o So much freedom (Bleh with the faces but at least there seems to be more this time) They're spoiling us XD

But remember : 'With great power comes great responsibility....' Stay classy, people ^_^
