SCV Ivy Video Thread

Ivy may be less technical now but she hasn't been dominating the matches. I'm sure there's plenty of challenge left there, even if it's not in the form of switching stances after every move to do combos. Personally I'd love it if she was doing as well as Siegfried or even Mitsurugi.
 

Ivy vs Tira from the Tokyo Game Night stream on 11/19 (the first one). Sorry that the audio and video are out of sync. Nicovideo does a damn fine job of preventing stream recordings, would've recorded more if I only knew there was a Ustream version of this.

Come on pros, give me some faith that Ivy's gonna be a tournament winner...

Why need faith?
If you like Ivy, then play Ivy.
Even if she would be low tier, she would still be my main because I like her as a character overall, not because she is powerful.
But from what I've seen on the stream it seems that she is still pretty good (I believe one Ivy player got 3rd or 4th place during that stream?). And I believe they would never make one of their most popular characters low tier.
 
Nice to watch the Ivy vs. Nightmare match to see that she can still kick ass, and has plenty of tools.

Those first few matches were painful to watch. The Ivy players got their asses kicked, and serves them right as they used the same 5 moves over and over. Boring and predictable.
 
Sometimes I see Ivy's 2A+B gives a blue GB light for a short moment but it doesnt GB. hmm

Ivy players lost bcos they fall for Voldo shenanigans and got Soul crushed by Maxi for blocking properly. Playing with safe moves is not a problem. Its just not very rewarding to play poking style with her. She has to risk for any mixup.

It's called a "Clean Hit". It also happened to us in Paris but we haven't figured out what it does.

By the way, 1A+B looks very safe. I wish I had checked the frames when I had the chance...

Greater risks often yield greater rewards...in life and in soul calibur. :P

Also those other players made no use of their soul meter at all, whether with BEs or her CE.
 
At 0:36 does Nightmare Air control the 22_88K? Or does it push them away automatically?

That's not air control. 22_88K (1K in SCV) hit Nightmare at tip range so 214B had not enough range to combo. 9B is a better choice then, also because it appears to do more damage when used at far range.

On topic: new Ivy still looks interesting to me. Will have to check out the vids more in-depth today.
 
Just watched Futurestar's vids, I forgot how badly Ivy got whooped in some of those matches. In the Ivy vs Maxi vid you can hear them talking about balance. Really wish I knew what they were saying. Can't believe that some Wesker Siegfried users are trying to argue that Ivy's more powerful.

And no, I'm never going to stop wanting my favorite characters to be tournament winners. I like seeing my favorites win. And I never said I wouldn't play Ivy if she ended up low-tier, though I'll admit pretending I did made the 'play em if you like em' speech prettier.

Don't worry, she won't end up low tier. Her mechanics don't allow that. She's still gonna be a viable tournament character I think.
 
anybody else notice in that TGN video against tira, that after a BE ivy lick that a WP 8B+K(i dont know the new input) is garenteed. She's getting pretty damn good NH damage from her FC 1B right now.
