NEC XII SC4 Full Results & Aftermath

The final major tournament for Soulcalibur IV is now in the books here at NEC XII in Philadelphia, PA. Competitors from across North America and Europe participated in one of the toughest tournaments that I have seen during the life of this game, along with those who came to try out the demo build of Soulcalibur V.

I would like to thank everyone who came through to NEC, to the European players for flying over to compete, to the staff who helped keep things going, and to Namco Bandai for their support of NEC XII. Everyone had a hand in making NEC an amazing success.

i for one am not mad at anyone. i know how that stuff goes, and with sponsors it was out of anyone's control. i just felt it necessary to voice my griefs, lol.

wish i coulda been there.

Good job guys. It was great seeing everyone this weekend. Hope everyone got home safe!

In other news, is anyone else weirded out or a little salty that the SCV Medals were given to the Tekken players?

I'm just going to keep this short and mostly general so I don't forget anyone.

France, thanks for coming out. I didn't get to play all of you, but our interests were in different places. Next time.

I met a few new people and saw a lot of old faces and had a great time thanks to all of you. Expect to see me more often for SC5.

Specific shoutouts to IceColdEdge for splitting the room with me and Kowtow for giving my friend and me a ride to the airport after we missed the shuttle to take pictures.

What?! You couldn't miss me, I was the large red-haired woman. NO ONE ELSE IS A LARGE RED-HAIRED WOMAN. ;-;

... I think we were on the same plane to Memphis Sunday night. There was definitely a large redhead woman on the plane who looked strangely familiar.

Lobo - I agree with you 100% in regards to the SCIV tournament not being streamed. At first I wasn't going to say anything but what some people in here are saying is just making me want to put them in their place. I love how people are yelling at those who are upset about the matter...
To those who are PO'ed at us for being PO'ed for missing out on the greatness...put yourselves in OUR shoes when we were expecting THE LAST SCIV major tournament to be streamed and are anxious to see hype ass matches...get shit on by having to sit through 4 hours of games that we honestly don't give a shit about.
Yes, I understand that NOTHING could have been done, NOW...but when I was snuggled up on my blankets, with my bowl full of snacks and excited to see my fave top SCIV players compete against each other and see all of the fucken hype that was going on at the NEC thread before the event...I get fucken slapped in the face with Tekken CASUALS... that was just shitty and it royally ticked me off.
Not ALL of us can afford to travel all over the place like some of you, shit happens..LIFE happens.
So stop getting your panties in a bunch because some of us who actually CARED to see the greatness via online since we OBVIOUSLY couldn't be there to experience the thing in person, are/were pissed off.
I'll make it clear, I understand that nothing could of been done now, but please..for those of you bashing us being upset about the outcome, can piss off.

Yeah, that pissed me off to. I dnt care about the prizes personally but that showed a complete lack of professionalism, organization, and support.

Guys/Girls, @ Every Major, shits going to go wrong. And thats just for the 2D stuff. So obviously SC stuff usually gets low priority. Its okay though because those who've travelled are used to it by now. We just keep pushing our game and being Hype.

As for the stream, I was at work so I didnt see it, but these days we should be happy that there is a stream at all. Because of this though, less people are recording. So its double-edged sword. It does suck that people were misled in what was streaming and when.

I forgot to give props to RAMON for winning the SC5 invitational, and beating Utoh/Dirty D. And I'm glad they recognize that is was PLAYER and not CHARACTER. I hated when every 2s Tim was like "shits op" or "nerf". Fuck Maxi does not need to be nerfed. Pyhrra does not need to be nerfed. The game isnt even out yet. Its sucks that SCV took away from the main tourney, but its ok. Woahhzz was #1 for a long time though. Partisan is the Best.

Everyone get ready to be pissed off when all their fave moves/inputs are gone. We should be used to it by now.

somebody explain this to me?

The little medals they were handing out, no one from SC got them because they were given to players of other games. I can think of a few possible explanations, but there's still no excuse for it.

Seriously, though, I am not at all mad at the stream situation (though I was when it was all going down). Even not taking into account what happened with KOF, SC had lots of stream time, if even it had to be in the form of SC5. Wish some of the SC4 matches did get streamed, but, at the end of the day, if people want these fighting games to actually do well, different communities are going to have to start reaching out, communicating, and sharing with one another.

You know I got you man, you're one of my favorite people in the scene lol. Always got a place to stay in Buffalo too, should we ever run something worth travelling for.

Tag and Lobo, those were some awesome posts. I didn't know what I was mad until I read your perspectives. If it helps, I will post a little context to help with the legendary SCIV event that was never captured.

I feel disturbed at the moment, so I'll just talk until I feel better.

Pretty much, I just got back and I had a great time, but it's been hard for me to recover after I threw away my match to Scud at the end. Especially since I don't know when I'll have another chance like that again.

Since I froze at the end, I've begun to doubt myself when it comes to performing in high pressured situations. Although I've taken solace in the fact that I was on such an awesome team with Niz and Team North America, I'm still deeply concerned about my ability to perform.

Other than my suckiness, in the end, Lolo was the MVP of the event. He made up a new dance on the fly and clutched it out for team north america by beating Scud when we needed it the most. Also, he beat Scud in singles preventing him from possibly taking it all.

Oh and all of the Frenchies spoke english which meant that we could talk to them! Even Keev brushed up on some expressions lol.

partisan, made the biggest rise by beating a lot of top players including Malek. He's also winning tournaments now. I can safely say that I've never played anyone with smarter mind games than this kid.

Bibulus did some great commentary and interviews. that was awesome man.

Krit, i saw a red head. who's this big girl that you've mentioned?

partisan, Lolo, Scud and Woahhzz are the best players in the world in my opinion and the results reflect that.

After all, don't Lolo and Woahhzz play SC4 online the most?

Eli has also become a top player all of a sudden. He surprised everyone and went neck to neck with Malek in singles.

JR could've used more support from everyone. Aside from his wife, he was essentially there alone.

France, you are all a nice group of people except for Kira when he loses. When Kira is about to lose, I always put the hater cam on deck.
Malek, you are my biggest rival and friend at the same time. I want you to win because you will stay happy and we can laugh about stupid shit, but i also want you to lose so that you come back.
but i have to give it to you...i admire your courage for a few reasons:
* you wanted to play me with my hat on at WGC 2010 (Scud did this too but Dina chickened out)
* you've traveled to the U.S. 4 times already
* you wanted to unban the Star Wars characters so that I could come to WGC 2011 when your companions where scared
* you came to FSAK in america alone to take down a country and for all practical purposes, you did
* you don't try to win by the system like Dina/Kira
* you troll the american forums and talk shit
* you consistently put yourself and your teammates up for a challenge against us

NEC would not have been the same if you didn't show up. When you showed the courage to come here, you've already won.

Actually that reminds me. Dina wanted me to take off my hat when we played and he switched my buttons to steal a round. I eliminated him in the world game cup Hilde vs Hilde and I made sure that Hilde was banned in Europe so that he wouldn't place top 50 in tournaments. But I'm still not content. I feel compelled to go over there and whip his ass some more.

Scud has exceptional talent and everyone in the world has had a chance to experience it first hand. I hope that he enjoyed his first trip to America.

Lost Providence, should do uncensored commentary. he was the hype voice that you kept hearing in the back ground "get yo ass up bitch!"

Furzy and I probably hung out the most and he bought us breakfast. nice!

Malice and NDK voluntarily captured random parts of soul calibur for NEC and that was great. NDK is my boy.

I hope that everyone had the pleasure of experiencing Sporko's lively personality when he's intoxicated.

I'm also happy for Woahhzz. He's made me proud in representing the new generation of soul calibur. good job kid.

Other than that, my last 5 tournament matches were against Ivy's:
1) Malek in random teams
2) Malek in team north america
3) Woahhzz in singles
4) Malek in singles
5) Scud in singels

The results for singles were 1) Woahhzz - Ivy, 3) Scud - Ivy, 5) Malek - Ivy. And if Ring was here, it would've been Woahhzz/Ring/Scud for top 3.

I went 50/50 with her for the most part, but after a while, I just got tired of seeing the bitch.

With that said, I'm ready for Soul Calibur V. From what I've gathered from Daishi and Yoshi-son, this game will be more balanced and you will see more diversity.

There are a lot of tournaments coming up, but I know for sure that my next stops will be Final Round and Evo. I would go to the world game cup in france but I'll need more than 2 weeks to practice before I go to any tournaments. Until I see you guys again, props to all of you!

I only have a list of apologies.

Sorry to Woahhzz. I sucked something fierce and let the team down. I did my best to cheer you on after that, but still.

Sorry to lolo. You beat me without having to counterpick, but that didn't stop me from heckling you. I regret nothing, but still.

Sorry to everyone else because I forgot my camera, then forgot my batteries, then forgot to charge my batteries, then forgot to record either Soulcalibur 4 or Soulcalibur 5. That's something I actually regret.

Sorry to all the Nightmare fans. I swear I lost like 6 Soulcalibur 5 games with Nightmare all weekend, but 5 of them were on stream. He's too manly and doesn't deserve that. At least the ladies still love him.

Sorry to Daishi and Utoh for stalking you all weekend.

Sorry to Malice for getting my salt all over you after our match. You know I didn't mean anything by it.

Sorry to Krit for telling her to get back into the kitchen.

And sorry to all of you minorities. I know these guys will call me a racist, but it's not true. Unless I said it.

Will write up remarks later as it's finals week and I've got lots of shit to do. Briefly though, I didn't get to scuff Malek's ass up like I intended, but I accomplished just about everything I wanted to with SC4 and have no other regrets (other than not getting to play Scud and Furzy...or fuckin' up everybody who decided to wait until I was drunk to call me out).

Regardless, with this tournament, I can truly say that I am prepared for SC5. See you all there.

Oh yeah, we were definitely the sexiest team in the team tournament, Partisan; we'll get 'em next time.

Well at least SOMEBODY see's it from our POV.
It wasn't even the fact that I didn't get to see the singles anymore... I was over that 5 minutes after it sunk in on tournament day that I wasn't gonna be able to see it...
It's the fact that people are telling us to stfu about not being able to watch it and that it's our fault for not personally being there to see it.
Like...you fucken serious? this was the last SCIV international event and I wanted to AT LEAST be some part of it from the comfort of my own home, but I guess I should QQ elsewhere.
I guess next time I'll be sure to grab some money out of my money tree that's growing out my ass so I can personally be there to view the entire thing.
Pssh, yeah...

PS: Thank you for your post and for the Hilde game play, can't wait to use her!
PSS: Thanks again Jaxel, you did what you could and I aint mad at ya.

I do apologize for the mishap with the stream. Me and jaxel had a set schedule and we planned on sticking to it. Until we got to nec. At first we had to find room for kof because i no longer had the room in the namco room. So KOF got delayed as eric and I were discussing where it will go. We figured it out and had it start later. Also there was the mix up with sc4 registration AND the 7v7 NYC vs USA tekken match that was never discussed with me or jaxel. Instead it was thrust upon jaxel when i was occupied. If that had not happened there definitely would've been sc4 streamed.
