Setsuka's favourite word was die. Contrast much?
After playing Dynasty Warriors and hearing another individual say "Justice" so much, anyone else that says it is pretty much guaranteed to annoy me. The only exceptions are Leixia (because she's so cute saying it. lol) and Justice from Guilty Gear (because......that's her name).
 
Small review played him a lot today on pre Release. He is fucking Setsuka with a few new Kicks, lol.

And with a 93 DMG A throw and 100 DMG B Throw...but A throw requires one BE.

A+G, 8A+BB, 2A BE, JF Umbrella.

In General timings are almost the same, just B+G Command Throw is different. I didnt train it a lot. For the 100 DMG you need to hit the JF twice.When you do the first one too late, you still get a Hit for 60 DMG or so...but there is a very small window where you hit the opponent when he falls...then you get the broken Damage.

In general JF Umbrella is more important, since i think it gives a different slide, so some combos really need JF to hit opponent on the ground. But JF Umbrella was not a big problem for me. After 15 Minutes i could do most combos.

Almost all old Combos work. 1BB twice into JF twice works. 6K works. 214B works also quite good after 1BB. You can get something like 90 DMG without the use of a BE...of a safe Mid, not bad huh?

1AAA still the same, same timing. Easy. Range is a lot better, lol! Still RO and Wallsplat for Combo as in SC4.

New Kicks: 44K is a roundhouse Mid, maybe it gives something special on Aired opponents, dont know. But solid. 1K is new, very fast TJ kick where she spins...in general her Kickgame is a lot better.

66A Range is fucked bad. I think she has trouble with Long range steps now. 214A and 22AA (Combos into CE) is what i used most to stop step.

214K into JF Umbrella still works on jumping opponents! Really good against those shit Ivy players.

BEs are really good. FC3BB BE is perfect, last hit always guarantees the 8A+BB followup. 2A A+B+K is sick fast, WTF. You can use it in Combos after 8A+B:

Example Combo:

ch 33B, 2143B:B:BE, 8A+BB, 2A BE, JF Umbrella.

Wavedashin is good, still install cancel with K:G. This is really important since its PERFECT to bait Wakeup CEs, especially Xiba likes with Auto GI.

CE is fucking i8, combos from ch 2A and is really good, but med. Damage...otherwise it would be broke as shit.

11B agB JF Umbrella still works, agB agB JF Umbrella also...but a bit hard, just as SC4.

Bear in Mind first time i played, he was not unlocked so i just did SC4 stuff most of the time...still he just plays like SC4.

We will need to find out where to use our BEs, then boss up on Matchups. Cause if you were a Setsuka Pro in SC4, Alpha will be learned to perfection in 2-3 days...EDIT: Oh and Bt B+K:B is the same, bit second hit is a GB which launches, lol. I think we might want to search for Setups where we jump over the opponent, looked really nice.

I missed quite a few combos etc but i recorder this only to show some moves etc for the people who have to wait another week...release in eu is 3.February. You can see 2A into CE, his Brave Edges, Throws, Washdash...quite a lot :)
 
Just to throw it out there since I've had the game for a bit: Alpha Pat gets my vote for best character in the game by a friggin mile. O_O

Really? There has to be something with Natsu, since all guide writers agree she is #1 without a doubt. Maybe we dont know yet. And DJ is just imba in their opinion. i think Alpa will have some issues with hard spacing since 33B and 66A range are nerfed, but from close to midrange he is _quite_ good :)

Btw i raped people so bad with Cervantes. Holy shit. 1AB low is madness, tracks like fuck. Stupid Fast. CH combo. I basically whored out 5 moves and it was enough, didnt even use IGDR Combos. Who cares about 1K anymore?
 
Natsu's also a giant pain in the ass. Maybe people are thinking POrc? Dunno. Alphapat is likely better on paper, but assessing him always comes with the caveat of near-perfect execution.

You like 1AB? I don't like being disadvantaged on hit from it, so I tend to just grab a lot. Pirate will ultimately end up relying quite a bit on iGDR combos, though, imo, because it's basically his best option after everything. 3B, iGDR x2 is 93-103 depending on if it clean hits.

The really nasty thing about it is the number of otherwise safe moves it can punish. What this effectively means is that once you're in the neighborhood of sub-50 health and Alpha has a bar, your offense is just plain crippled.

I felt in SC5 he has the tools to deal with that situation quite well. B+K, A+B (SC2 A+K), 44B or just quickstep. Sure need to gamble a bit but in SC5 he is way better at dealing those situation _IT SEEMS_. Played around 40 Matches with him, so thats all my experience right now. Might be wrong and it only worked that well since its new...but its 100% invisible for sure...

Yes its quite good, i have it on video. But not as much damage as other CEs....but it gets people really scared. Alpha has so good ways to spend his Meter...or just stak it on 1 to scare people.

Funny, I'm kinda leaning on Omega being the best right now.

Then again, I'm also wondering why there's even two of them. Barely enough differences between her and Pyrrha and Omega's BEs are just incredibly good based on first impressions. Yeah, Omega's really punishable, but her CE combos into pretty much anything (Incidentally, so does Alpha's).

Of course there's also ZWEI and his ability to make every one of his approaches safe with Ein backup. And Xiba's crazy mixups and Leixia's psyches, so yeah.

Lots of characters have some really good stuff, but the above tend to standout a lot. I never could grasp Setsuka, and I still can't grasp Alpha (not much changed as far as ease of use when it comes to Setsuka's style), so I might be skewing things a bit, but I think Alpha's great, but not unbeatable.
 

Omega's like a not-shitty Sophitia. That impresses me to an extent, but I don't worry fighting her like I do against many other characters.

Gonna have to disagree with you about Zwei. I've spent a lot of time on him, and I now think he's just plain bad. =(
 
Had the same initial impressions as you have with ZWEI - even when I play him, I still feel like he stinks - but the (very good) AI makes him difficult to deal with. Granted, I've had no live play against anyone yet and I probably haven't had as much time as you, but I don't feel ZWEI is all that bad. Course, I probably won't even play ZWEI seriously unless I grow a third hand. =)

Really like the game and better designs of the cast. Their 'depth' this time around doesn't feel too gimmicky and everyone feels like they got a lot to show. Even Alpha, who is really just SC4 Setsuka in disguise; barring a few balance/range changes here and there. Can't even think of a new move on Alpha besides the BEs.
