α Patroklos General Discussion/ Q&A

Alpha Patroklos profile has been included on the main website.

Turns out that Setsuka was training quite a few people, or orphans in particular. Young Patroklos seemed to be the one who wanted to learn it the most. It also states that Setsuka was more like a mother figure to him than his own biological one.

....Oh yeah, Patroklos later turned his back on her by acting like another Yun-Seong, and then ran away from her. Nice going Patroklos. *rolls eyes*

Interesting enough that Setsuka no longer desired revenge, but Patroklos had an extreme thirst for it.
WHERE? I MUST READ

Im 100% sure people will still say that PS was lazy even though I figured this out in story mode.

I'm not sure if this was considered as "lazy" or "planned". His story profile was obviously done at the last minute though, since this game doesn't have character profiles, and they vaguely mentioned Patroklos having an "original style" in the story mode.

So I decided to challenge myself and learn alphaPat, why not? In 2 days of training I have JF umbrella, 2143B:B, and 1B:B down to a fine art :D Coming from Astaroth this is ridiculously hard! (and fun)

My question is wtf is 1AA:A and how is anyone supposed to pull this off consistently?? I don't think Setsuka's version had only 1 JF (I believe it was 1A: A :A). The first 2 hits can be mashed and the 3rd comes out seemingly at random. I'm starting to wonder if the 3rd hit is even worth learning at this point. Any tips?

Doing JFs in training mode isn't all their is to it try to do it in actual battle and the 1:a:a:a comes with time :3

Of course training mode isn't the same as a real match, but it helps to get muscle memory down for these crazy movements in the long run/clutch situations. Before this I had never even done a JF (other than Asta's command grabs) before so it's much more difficult than say a SCIV Sets player.

Anyway, if anyone else has some type of hint as to how to learn his 1A series JF that would be great!

Yeah, the 1A JFs are hurting me too. I can hit the the first one with some reliability but the second one? Hell naw. XD

It'd be cool if Setsuka showed up in some way in the next game now knowing that she's his teacher (and his mother, for the most part). Just so she can see that Pat got past his hangups like she did and be all proud of him and stuff.

Right after I posted I started to get the timing down, it's actually really slow compared to the other JFs. I think I might make a video to help out the other alphaPat newbs.

You're doing way better than me, then. XD

I still can't hit 1A: A: A or JF Twister reliably.

Just guessing i would say 15-20 frames between each A, I've been hitting it a lot now just remember it's slow. The good thing is that while you're learning, at least getting 2 As out is a knockdown on hit. I also changed my buttons on my stick specifically for this character lol. I now have it as:

A K G
B ABK

This makes sliding the JF Twister really easy. Remember the 2143 motion can be down fairly slow, the buttons are the JF portion. This video helped me get down the timing:

Hope that helps!

Anyone playing him should learn all of his best tools IMO. Why even play him if you're not willing to have good execution? There's regular Patroklos for that.
What are you talking about? Ofcourse you shoud learn them, but all these people are doing is trying to be "flashy" all I'm saying is learn the character if you're going to use him he is a difficult one. Just because you learned flashy umbrella or 1!2!3! doesn't make you any better if you don't know what situation to use them in and spamming them and failing is going to cause horrible backlash from someone who LOVESSSSSSSS to punish these two particular moves. Honestly, only use for 1:a:a:a seriously is for wakeup game and JF umb is good for a combo ender, but learn how to use regular umb first before trying to push the envelope. On top of all this JFs are ALOT harder to pull of in battle because it's less about "let me focus on timing so I can get this JF down" and more about pure muscle memory. Like I said before I think they, the beginners, should focus more on getting 1b:b and FC 3b:B down before trying to go all JF crazy on 2 moves that don't do shit on their owns! So unless you're just trying to play for the thrill of telling someone you can pull of flashy just frame I suggest perfecting his more combo active moves.

Well I don't want to get into a big argument about it, and I wasn't trying to brag when I said I learned these moves so quickly. I was actually looking through his movelist and thought "wtf....wtf. How could anyone even play this character??" as I'm sure some other people have. He *is* hard to play, but if I can learn his hardest moves then he is obviously not impossible to learn and to learn quickly as well. Much to my surprise, of course. Plus that means I already know I can use his full potential in the future.

When I pick up a character in any game I learn all their moves, and some combos before I just plop myself into battle.

So overall, what would you folks recommend are the best fundamental tools to learn when playing Alpha Pat? I can do 2143aBs easily, gotten a bit of the BE stuff down (like the 1A+B~B, JF2A, 1A+B~B again), figured out that 214B is awesome (tech crouch and stuns on counter hit, it's like a mini SC4 Kilik WR B), and so on.

I don't want to argue either, but all I will say is just because you learned his moves in training doesn't mean you have "mastered" him or are even close to decent. Ofcourse you may be the God or aPat, but I don't know that or have played you so all I'm saying is put it to the test challenge peopele who have knowledge of him, I think Signia is taking him to a tourny so I'm sure he would be your best bet and if Cotd(CheeseOfTheDay) or Dest/SLR picks the style back up challenge them and that WILL make you better and more wary of the what whats. Have fun though I wish you the best in your ventures =P

Refer to the Alpha Pat General Strategy thread I think I covered more of your questions.

Good lord, God of aPat? -_- I am happy that I learned how to execute moves I thought were impossible for me to learn. I haven't even taken him *out* of training mode yet, I never called myself some godlike aPat player lol.

Also you live in South Florida too? Hopefully you will get to see my *godlike* Astaroth in tournament if any are being held down here. ;)

Yep, you're in the Florida Calibur group? Feb 26th Sore Thumbs is hosting a tournament in Tampa I hope to see you there! I'll poke the shit out of your Asta ask DesertFox about my normal Pat's 1k.

I'm so bad at this game, but I will push myself to become a great soul calibur player and a great a.Pat player. Thank goodness for solid online play so I can be of no cash value and lose constantly until I learn to block high/lows and tech grabs consistently, and get everything else down. Thanks for contributing information on the forums guys.
