α Patroklos General Discussion/ Q&A

What is so great about A. Pat?
Good speed, high damage, and fairly safe options. He's got 2 combo throws that lead to nice damage(one on A and one on B), a great punish/counter hit tool in 2143a:B, the fastest move in the game to my knowledge(his CE, comes out in 8 frames), and some niffty tech if you can handle his tech crouches.

This is of course all offset by him being an absolute pain in the ass to learn thanks to all of his best moves requiring just frames.

Yoshimitsu's flash and leixia's crybaby are both i6 i believe.

Is that really it for faster than i8? Crybaby is kinda niche obviously and certainly not a punish, and flash require you to basically be inside them(literally). I know sister step is 14, but what about cervy CE?

Best moveset in the game, hands down imo.

A Pat is my guy and all, but a better moveset than Phyrra is a tough sell to me. Really the only character that makes me want to break shit after I lose when someone is really locked into those mixups.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This scream was brought to you by a casual SC vet who knows that if he was playing anyone else he'd be much better by now. Except yoshi. Fuck yoshi.

Yeah obviously they dont have the same utility, i was just talking about speed.
Flash is good for interrupting certain stances and patterns.

ervy is i12

Interesting little find:

Running K's hitbox actually extends a little behind Alpha, to the point where if you jump over the opponent with this move, they still have to block it, lol.

Impractical but nifty I rather feel. =/

So how effectively can I play Patsuka without Just Frames? His attacks look visually satisfying and I'm thinking about switching from Hilde to him, yet I can never get his Just Frame attacks down.

I would say don't bother to be honest. You could get by on twisters and bA's and 33B's for awhile I guess, I don't see the point though, his whole design is built around JF's. It's like only playing Tira in Jolly stance. Sure it's possible, but why?

Practice. It took me hours and hours in training mode to get them down.

So does anyone else think it's hilarious they gave him 214 and 236 to allow for instantly buffered FC and 8WR moves, respectively? These "stances" basically allow him to access these tools faster than anyone else in the game. Was Namco trying to break him? Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but they are really, really powerful tools.

After playing in my first SCV tournament I can safely say unless you're some emotionless robot - playing Patsuka under pressure is really frustrating. All of these tools are great, but I don't think any of us will be able to use them properly until months and months of training/experience. I went from 100% JFs at home to .0001%, lol. I do appreciate the challenging execution though.
