Talim Video Archive

My brother and I did some casuals yesterday. We made videos but youtube is taking forever to load them, one is finished but the others are taking a while. In two of them I play with Talim, and in the other I play with Hilde.

Here's the first one anyways. This isn't my best, but it was intense.

Good work, fast and ya intense.

That Ivy seems pretty good and she seems to know Talim's moves.

You had some good blockin.
Just need to practice gettin the combos out- for example the Ice Wind Combo and after CH:6::K: you can :2::3::6::B:, :6::6::B:, :2::A::+::B:.

At the beginnin you did a few :B::B:s outta range- maybe :6::6::B: woulda hit (although risky).

Keep it up!

(Don't worry given advice is easy and I need to follow my own advice myself, haha. You gotta good, fast Talim!)

Rounds 4 and 8 should've been won by you. You need to pressure more when their life is down. Mix it up with highs and lows. The reason you lost those rounds was because you were too impassive and stepped around too much.

Overall, good videos but there are some staple combos that should be pulled out for maximum damage. Keep it up :)

====== DOUBLE POST AUTO-MERGE ======
Three more videos against siegfried and hilde. These guys have gotten used to some of talim moves so i had to add some variation and i started to whore FC3BB and 1A+B a bit.

I'm loving 1A+B now.

Ya looks like the Sig was gettin more used to you and punished you more after the first game.

I think most of the Sigs I see are more aggressive.
I haven't seen many Sigs use the Hold version of that over head :B:? (I think) Is he tryin for a CF?.

Looks like you did better this time around- you hit most of your combos and you didn't do many things outta range.

I also played today and got alotta the FC:3::B::B: in as well.
I got biffed a lot tryin :1::A::+::B: and was tryin the :A::A::B: combo after it (only for big characters) but didn't have any luck with it hittin. It's not guaranteed and the opponent can air control outta it's range.

:2::A: and :2::B: are good for chargin opponents (and some highs may whiff Talim when she's crouched while she does these two moves). Many characters have these moves em but not many people seem to use em.

Thanks TalimJP.

Yea, i still haven't gotten around to punishing his over head B. It just the mix up he does with A that gets some of us.

I tend to use 1A+B when they're in close to be. Even though talim is at an advantage, after a BB or a move that the opponent may want to attack straight afterwards with a high, 1A+B works wonders.

I've got a few more videos to upload, not sure if they're of any use to watch but getting in close to Hilde is a hard task.

PS: I don't play SCIV much anymore so my general game is a bit below par.

No prob.

You're lookin good.
And tell that Sig that :(B): is risky (then start punishin him, maybe :6::6::B:? Maybe it can close the gap and hit him?)

I think you should upload the vids. We need all the vids we can get.
Recently we have a few newer Talim players so I think they would appreciate some vids of a godd SCIV Talim in action (there aren't many vids of Talim period).

Any vids showin some ways of gettin in close to those long range characters would be helpful too.

I'm hoping that the matches I had against kPc at yesterday's GVN tournament will be uploaded. Nice guy; really good Siegfried player, but he totally flipped the script on me by using Cervantes. Still I hung with him really well and the matches were close.

As for Hilde...
actually, getting in against Hilde is really easy, it's what you have to do once you're in there that's the hard part. Stepping towards the sword hand will get you past the pole rather quickly. After that the only thing you need to watch for is C2 A or C3 A. Once inside though, whole different ballgame.

There are a couple of Talim's on Youtube that we haven't posted up.

Just go through the related videos for more.

Looking forward to your videos ZeroEffect317 :D

Eclair I had no idea you live in Melb lol I played endnow (online) a few days ago and well... ... ... I got trashed, so it was satsifying to see you beat him with Talim hahaha... Looking at your videos now I can see who taught him the how's against Talim players lol If you're on PSN, let's play some time :)

Endnow does have quite a big ego and it does feel great to beat him with talim. Unfortunately i don't play online, but hopefully you can pick up some strats from these videos.

However, he's learning to play against talim as well :)

Or come to our gatherings if you live in the melbourne area :D.

I'm workin all day tomorrow and won't be home.
My Talim's camera shy too...

Also I'm in Japan so there's time change and the (probably) 3 bar connection.

I'd like to play ya someday though- send me an XBL Friend Request.

Engared- How many bars you have with Japan on XBL?

Eclair, matches between you and Endnow:

Seems like the Siegfried didn't know new Talim well, but you knew the basic of Sieg which was quite helpful. Being hit by Sieg's 3~SCH A+B hurt a lot and he forced you many times into SRSH 50-50 mix-up which you managed pretty well. However, whenever he is trying to SCH {2} (big vertical GC slam) just step him or roll to weaker side. Teach him not to spam it.

I'm not familiar with SC4 talim, I had enthuastic friend who liked Talim in SC3 a lot, so that matchup is somewhat covered. IMO nice games, *thumbs*

Engared- How many bars you have with Japan on XBL?

Never tried :D. I played live once and got smacked around by some scrub astaroth with much better lag spamming 1[A]B and decided online was not for me.
But if we go by dawn of war 2 ping, it would be about 90 ping or around there.

I'm up on Live for fun (in a room) and sometimes hit the Ranked (5 bar only) when no one's around to prac with.

It ain't the same as offline but it's good for when I'm bored of playin/practicin w/the AI.
