Siegfried Q&A / General Discussion

Very interesting. Does taking dmg cancel the effect? If not it will absolutelly find use.

Going out of stance completely negates it. So yes, taking damage cancels it. I think it'll be extremely powerful against the ignorant, but I don't think it's worthless against good, knowledgeable players quite yet.

It's very interesting to confuse opponent. But that's all :-)

True, it may only confuse them. But confusion can potentially open them up to damage, which is always a plus. At its face value though, you pretty much hit the nail on the head - spending .5 meter for a potential mix-up, and no actual guard damage or damage, is not exactly "great" by any stretch, and this definitely isn't the killer tech that shoots Siegfried up to S tier.

And besides, knowing Namco, they'll patch this glitch, and fix nothing else of Siegfried's. C'est tres bullshit, non?

Of course confusing is interesting, it's even de rigueur with Siegfried.
It works well against people who want to JG or side step the second hit of SCH K BE.

Yes I guess you're right about Namco, that's why I didn't post this glitch. To prevent Namco to patch it (but I did it on a streaming in the other side). It's funny and not broken at all.

Found that glitch as well days ago, but thought it was already well known and didn't serve any purpose. Thank you very much for the information on what we could possibly do with it. (Especially the trick where you can choose the stance you'll enter, nasty).

Anyway, I'm still pretty new to err... "trying to get the best out of your character", so I don't know if what I'm going to say is common knowledge or not ->

B4 has way more than two timings (again, I wasn't really that much onto SCIV, so I'm not too sure, but I think it only had two timings back in the day), and the fastest one comes out REAL FAST. The difference with the slowest one is insane. Just try to hit 4 as late as possible.

Apologies, again, if it's already common knowledge.

for the glitch. It appears 2 time.

Yes about B4 it's like before. The fast version is amazing, but also really hard to perform.
It's really a true Jf. You have to do B and 8 frame later 4. If you do it 7 frame later it will be slower, if you do it 9 later only a "B" will come.

The good idea is to buff a BB. B4B. If you miss it a BB will come out, that's not so bad.

If youre feeling fancy and got the reaction and fingers you can also use CE for -17 and unsafer. Tho distance plays a huge factor here on whether the move will actually hit.

I noticed this on day 1, but thought I was insane. Glad you could recreate it. I HATE that this works.

I understand your thinking. I guess I just think the Sieg thread isn't populated enough for crowd control like that to be necessary, and I feel it'd be easier to just state the Rules n Regs in super bold on top of the thread, have it unlocked, and you remove posts that do not follow the rules. This way people could post whenever new tech is found without depending on you to see it, and you would have to do minimal modding. It is called 'modding' after all, not preemptive prevention ;P

i gotta be honest, it pisses me off that the mods are locking threads for no reason.

it is really stunting me from learning this game with lack of information.

do they really think all things we post either pertain to a QnA or videos? come on guys, DO YOUR JOB. which is just like gov't, if we cant notice you and things are orderly, youre doing your job!

Is this really the place to be questioning a mod's personal decision? Please message them personally, because some of us don't really want to listen to it, and would rather talk about the game. Although I do think the skill videos thread should be left unlocked and 'moderated' as need be, rather than just closing it down out of fear.

There is a combo discussion, tech trap discussion, video discussion, frame data discussion, spacing discussion, and non-gameplay discussion - all on the front page. The stickies are like an archive or library - they are a compilation of all the data, not a dumping ground for anyone's barely-related media. The discussion threads are for everyone else to post their things in. Not only that, but they've been locked since pre-release - we haven't "locked the threads for no reason". The reason there isn't any information is because either the work hasn't been compiled into those threads (in which case it's still available int he discussion threads) or the information in question does not exist.

But thank you for reminding me how I need to do my job, which I forgot was also a thankless one.

So after watching Aris' technique of backstepping with yoshi inputing 4, bG (and if needed again 4) as bG makes him step back significantly, i tried to find sth similar with Siegfried.
He can do the same thing but 20 times worse using aG (pretty late cancel) but i dint really like it.

With more testing i found out that because of the buffer if you tap 4 and then tap aG you will get a double backdash. It not THAT easy to perform as it has some timing, but it could probably be worth a look or two as it gives you almost double the distance covered by a single 4 tap.

edit: the exact same thing applies to the sidestep/front dash.

let me know what you guys think.

lol people asked me recently "wait, why aren't you a sieg mod?"

That's why ^

But I will say again: I did make a few Sieg "How-to" vids (and I plan to make more), and they're not up on the Skill Project thread. That's what I'm worried about - vids not getting put up for long periods of time because they are missed or overlooked by mods. I feel it would be easier to weed out the few trashy unrelated vids while having the community contribute, than preventing immediate contribution in the first place. Again, this part of the forum is not crowded enough to warrant thread-locks. For any highly populated section of the forum, I would agree with your methods... but not here. Unnecessary.

Also, is anyone else having trouble with the 8WR video player lately? Within the past week or so, I haven't been able to click media links unless I, myself, post them. I have to hit "reply" and copy/paste the youtube url myself. It's quite annoying. I wonder if this is happening to anyone else, or my adobe is just getting screwy.

Hi, this is the first time that I've played a 3d fighter so I have a question that might seem to have an obvious answer but I'm afraid I don't have it: I play Mitsurugi - How do I get in on Siegfried?

well right off the bat, i'd say if you want to go in attacking, use moves like bA, 66K, ect. otherwise, there's a couple more ways you can do it, such as trying to step in and force a whiff for something like a 66BB punish. you should try to avoid moves such as 66A, 22_88B, and 22_88A, since they can be really annoying if you dont make the effort to avoid and block them. watch where siegfried uses more risky moves and try and take advantage of those mistakes to get in. also dont be discouraged, but chances are against a good sieg you're probably going to have to deal with blocking a few 3B's and iagA's in the process. deal with these in the same way as you would normally with the goal in mind of trying to get in. remember though that some of siegs attacks do space alot, so he may make u restart this process several times throughout the course of the match. also, if you have a life lead, you have the advantage over siegfried, so let him come to you. some of his rushdown moves can be kind of clumsy at times, and this gives you plenty of opportunities to capitalize on him for free damage.

also, im moving these posts to the general Q & A thread ^-^ feel free to ask any questions you have there, and me, or another player would be more than happy to answer them!

i hope this helps!

nightblade, i already knew about your tutorial vids, and moved them just this morning when i woke up. its not that i was overlooking them, its that i was busy with RL. im on here everyday, and i can guarantee i know when something goes on. so maybe sometimes it takes me a day or two to get to things, they still get done anyways. im not gonna make a big scene about this in this thread, but tbh, it should be like, say, reading a textbook for that particular thread. now if say you were reading a textbook, and all the pages were scrambled and mishmashed between information and a conversation between a few different people, how much harder and longer would it take you to sift through it all just to get what you needed?

anyways, again, this doesnt belong in this forum. if you have any problems with how the SA is run, or how me and Jian do our jobs, ect, contact us through PMs. or, better yet, if you think you can do my job better than i can, contact biblus. but dont clutter up this thread with complaints, its not what it was made for.

Hey, long time lurker, first time poster. I wanted to ask if there are any articles or videos that show the changes from SCIV to SCV Sieg?

I feel he has quite lost a good amount of nice moves and is a tiny bit worse than in SCIV but some people seem to point out he has become better, so maybe it is just me.
Anyhow he is still pretty good imo.
