Move Spamming?

Reave, Please do elaborate and bless us with your vast unlimited knowledge. You do know everything there is to know about everything right?

You say that someone who hates spam isn't bad at the game. Very shortly after you said that it's better for them to play someone who doesn't spam so they'll have a chance at winning. According to you I'm not comprehending this when I say it's a contradiction.

So, how are these NOT contradicting statements?
I said find someone else that they have a chance at beating. Clear enough for you?

Why thank you good Sir. May a flock of vagina's mack their way to your crotch by days end.

I'm taking this saying, and I'm going to use it and I'll never give you credit, it will be my saying and I'll be getting high fives and props for such a clever saying and there is not a damn thing you can do about it!

saying's not exactly applicable to everyone though... ie homosexual males... or heterosexual females... ^_^

Or celibate kunlun monks... =_= (though I'm pretty sure they'd appreciate it most... unless they've taken a fancy to their acolytes.. >_<)

I'm sure all peoples would appreciate the knowledge that they have a vaginal magnet attached to their nethers. They may not need to act on their gravitational pull, but only take solace that it exists.

I stole the saying from somewhere else to begin with, haha.

If my opponent spams, I'll spam too. Other than that, I don't like spaming, feels cheap, I always try to look cool with some long and flashy combos, if conditions are ok.

In MvC3 me playing at a tournament = spam spam spam spam spam spam spammity spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam [especially with dormammu]. Cause it's an effective zoning/spacing strategy.
Same with SSBB in tournaments. Toon link spam = good zoning strategy

In a more social setting I try to be fancy.
Like Nightmares follow ups to 33B BE. 2A+B and A2AA seem to be the only relevant follow-ups IMO. One's the highest damage and the other gives you more meter. Though I don't spam the combo, in a social setting I'll do a different follow up for the 33B BE everytime I connect to give more variety for the audience.

If it were a tournament there wouldn't be so much variety.

3b3b3b3b3b3b really isn't the problem with this game. The problem is every character has lots of gimmick that takes hours to learn how to deal with, and there are so many characters.

Playing online, for someone who is new to playing the game a lot with real human players, is a pain in the ass to deal with all the gimmick combo/setups. It's either takes hours to learn how to deal with 1 character's gimmick, which is too time consuming. Or I can spam my own and hope he falls for mine more than I do to his gimmick. But do that will not really help me improve my game.

So my biggest problem with this game is you can't just keep playing online and gets better, well at least not at a reasonable speed. In all the game I did well in in recent years, such as Starcraft 2, SF4, CoD:MW3, you do need to learn, but mostly just keep playing online and you will get better, which is just not true for this game. If you are to go anywhere as a noob, you needs to spend time to learn every character's gimmick and how to deal with them, which itself would easily take up to 100 hour if not more,(and that will be some really really boring hours) then you might go somewhere.

I feel this is extreme newbie unfriendly way of game design. Give character gimmicks that are easy to use but hard to deal with does not make this game newbie friendly but rather cater to scrubs who don't care about getting better at the game.

How can you compare SCV to Starcraft 2...... that game is much harder to learn considering if you make 1 damn mistake on a team, your allies get so pissed you think they are going to just rip your throat out from your comp screen...

Man if you think 100 hours of invested time is too much, I hope you never have the displeasure of playing Tekken 6 and learning 40 matchups of gimmicks, strings, and frames. SC5 is practically a breath of fresh air in terms of learning curve compared to most fighters.

Basically in any level below master, people keep making small mistakes non stop, it doesn't really matter, as long as you don't make big mistake when it counts you are mostly fine.

I mostly ladder 1v1, get to diamond was fairly easy, but lack the multitasking ability to get into master. Carried my friend to Diamond in 2v2 easily too.

I don't play Tekken, and games like SF4 has a much easier learning curve, you can learn how to counter most BS by playing online. Plus, what kind of learning curve is also important, VF4/5 has a huge learning curve, but it's more of a universal skill set, not the boring one like in this game where you spend hours in lab to find out every character's gimmick and how to counter them. Yes, there are all the character specific max damage combo, but they are not need just to deal with people at very basic level.

I think a universal damage nerf would do the game good in terms of learning curve, on that we agree. You'd have to see more instances of said damage dealing things, giving your brain more opportunities to figure out how to deal with it.

50% off a standard combo starter in a game with relatively safe/easy to apply combo starters means it's a game of 1.5 to 2.5 mistakes, SC4 on the other hand (eschewing factors that it was harder to make a mistake due to easier defense) it was a game of 2.5 to 4.5_ mistakes. More mistake forgiveness means more time to adapt and apply yomi, and reduces "gimmick" strength. This layers the mindgames deeper.

I inherently dislike universal skillset being a predominant method of player skill- specific skills are preferred. That's a personal preference- universal skill-sets promote homogenous gameplay at top levels.

^Totally agreeing. As a new player to SC5 I find it to be insanely hard to get better. Everyone I meet online seems to be greedy for a win, so Im pretty much always up against scrubkiller tactics instead of against real players.
And since not blocking one or two lows costs you a round there is no learning effect for me.
Ill just loose 3 rounds straight and then be up against someone else, who plays some other character and/or abuses different moves and so on. If I could actually survive more than 2 moves I might actually learn from my mistakes, but the way it is, matches are usually over before any sort of learning effect takes place.

Vs some characters its as bad as laying on the ground and forfeit a round after getting hit by ONE knd move cuz theres just no way to survive the wakeups -.-

Quick being important. The downtimes in between matches in playerlobbies are insane and the fluctuation between players joining and leaving doesnt make for a big difference compared to ranked matches. Maybe if I get to know a few people on my lvl lobbies will be fun, but so far they are a waste of time to me. Playing 2-3 matches in half an hour while watching bads will get me nowhere Im afraid.
