Natsu Questions And Answers / General Discussion

All her BEs seem to be useful in general. I feel that her teleport BE while in PO is going to become a big part of Natsu's game.
How are you gonna use it ?? I find it quite useless... But maybe I do not know something that I should :)

just to add that 6A+B PO should be the defacto i16 punisher; it's +11 on hit and you can do it from crouching. usually i just go into PO A:6, but PO B is a good idea as well.

btw for some reason 6A+B PO A:6 doesn't work on raph; the first hit of PO A:6 tends to whiff unless raph's cornered.

as for teleport, basically when you think the opponent is going to counter (e.g. maxi will always try and 6A+B you out of PO) just do it. ideally you'll end up behind the opponent and get a free BT PO K.

@Taxi: I did not know about 6A+B4 (PO) being that huge on hit. Huge range, TC, and the positive frames of FC A+B?
this negates quite a bit from my rather lengthy previous post. Thank you.

Am I the only one that finds Siegfried really, REALLY annoying to deal with? Could just be my inexperience with Soul (and 3D fighters in general), but still. I find myself just going through this trial and error process of where to attack because he has reach over Natsu and he has some nasty air-tight staggers (at least they feel air-tight. I probably need to Just Guard and Guard Impact more).

Right now, I know better than to press buttons whenever he goes into his special stance from a horizontal slash (unless I really want a knee to the face), but that's all I really got so far. Anyone can help me out with this match-up? I saw there's a lot of punish data up for him, so I'll probably try that stuff out when I get home, but I feel I may need more than that.

after sieg's 3B on block just AAB. most of the lows he does can be punished by 6A+B. 6A+B at range is also decent for fishing for counterhits (into the usual damaging combo). 22K and A+B at mid-range can catch hasty siegs (and others).

Okay, noted. I'll hit the lab this afternoon and see how that works out. Meanwhile I'll still be taking inputs on this match-up. I think that this is the first game since King of Fighters that has made me use other characters just to identify their options and how to deal with them. It's hard, but I would be lying if I said it's a boring process.

Thanks again for the input!

Another thing to note vs Sieg's 3(B) is if you are too far away to punish with AAB, you can step the following stance K attack for a pretty beefy punish.

Damn it, accidentally bolded instead of saying 3(B)

Many thanks for both inputs. I didn't fight a Siegfried today, but I fought Nightmare which is quite frankly a nightmare indeed. Also fought a bunch of other characters, including Ezio. Poor Ezio, he's so freaking bad. Fortunately for the Ezio player, he has Soul Calibur fundamentals and I don't, so he managed to come out on top.

Judging from my matches today, I've determined that it's time to hit the video thread. I need visuals from other Natsu players to get an idea of what I should be doing on offense.

I also find Sieg quite irritating :) Natsu is not bad against him because she can punish his 3(B), I do not know if any other character can do that in SC V. Of course his range can be troublesome... Going back to 6A+B - there is one problem with this move (and with many good Natsu moves generally - like 66B, AAB) - it can be punished. Using Natsu against someone who is good at punishing (and for example using Phyrra Omega or something) will be hard. Regarding PO A+B+K - I still think it is quite risky and not worth using your "bar". Generally I think that Natsu's CE is so good that there is no point in using BE moves other than BE throw which gives nice RO. At the moment I think that she is not so strong as some people think, but much training is needed to fight against her effectively.

I'm abusing 6A+B and 4B now to get into PO offensive positions.

So 6A+B is an i16 frame punisher? What's AA frame wise?

I should really get the SCV guide, it has every frame/tactic in the game

Is there information anywhere being more in-depth against Pyrrha, match-up wise? I agree with Siegfried being annoying, but after a while it was easier punishing his lows. Pyrrha, however, is an annoying match for me.

So apparently my defense is really solid. I've been told that I'm hard to crack, but now that makes me curious. Just because I don't understand how to fight every character yet doesn't mean that I can be more aggressive with Natsu. So now I'm wondering "How do you be aggressive with Natsu (if possible)?"

I'm sure I'm fine as it is. I'm playing people that know how to fight her, but I'm just fighting characters I don't know how to deal with so I have to be more passive to see what's going to happen. Regardless, it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

Take advantage of your + frames to be more aggressive and apply more pressure. Natsu's throw game is good, so nothing wrong to take advantage of that. The more you do to force your opponent to react (conditioning) the more room you have to take advantage of their mistakes. PO oki is also very strong against players that just hold block. Just remember being aggressive doesn't mean that you keep attacking and pressing buttons all the time.

But, know when to back off. If you're too aggressive, you might lose sight of your "solid defense" and run into things such like Leixia's 44B or 22B. Block/step/evade, and punish. Know when to back off, and when to get back in and reapply pressure/damage/mixups.

I'm definitely no stranger to taking advantage of...well...advantages, considering my KoF background. Yesterday, I managed to make my friend be honest by counter hitting him for a full combo each time he tried to press a button after I connected a FC K or 1A, so that felt pretty good. It's just a matter of finding more means to be aggressive, which you gave me now.

Oh yeah, I understand this. When I was still going from mid to high level in 2D fighters, I had a phase where I was too hesitant to do anything, followed by a phase where I became too aggressive and impatient. It was all about finding the median where I can be threateningly aggressive, but still know when to be passive.

With that said, each time I fight someone new, whether it's a new player or new character, I always play the first round pretty passively to observe how they respond. From there, I slowly add on a little bit of aggression at a time, constantly keeping them in check to see how they react to the pressure. Eventually it gets to where I stay in on them and they have trouble getting me away because I watched how they respond to different situations.

Playing like this keeps me from losing my way and developing any bad habits involving overly aggressive behavior. :)

On a serious note, that's a depressing glitch I have no explanation for.
the explanation is that this game was rushed and there is no good excuse for it. i can see it now, a good natsu is about to make top 8 at a major, in losers side against a solid astaroth, they both win a game and are on there final round. the nastu player successfully lands the UB tech trap. goes for the air throw for the kill and a top 8 placing, then gets RUNG OUT .lol if that happened to me id find the nearest namco representative and punch them.

I doubt any of you will remember me, but I haven't played since SCII

Anyway, I have a few questions about the game in general and how much it's actually changed. Then a few questions about Taki, well Natsu.

1) Should I just forget everything I remember about her and the game in general and start over?
2) i10 is the new i8?
3) Is PORC or tEXC still about?
4) What are the changes in Taki's actual game play?
5) Can you still get things like BA~2 PO 2~K to come out faster than BA~2 PO 2+k
6) 3KKK:SCc still about?

Also, are: AChaCha, Halister, Floe, XTCU or any of those guys still around???
