*votes SCII best OST in gaming*

The Soul Blade ending were great.
What really made it for the sound in that game with the mix between real instruments and midi they had in Soul Blade... and only Soul Blade.

Cervantes and Voldo had the two coolest ending themes in Soul Blade... I think.

I wasn't really thinking about these tracks when comparing the soundtracks before. I was basically comparing it based on the battle music and the character select screen. If you add these tracks also, Soul Blade had the best soundtrack by even more.

Once more... looking back on SC2. I feel like SC2 has the most different soundtrack of the Soul games aside from Soul Blade. SC3 remade a bunch of SC1 tracks, and reused a few from SC2. SC4 reused a good amount of its tracks from SC3, including some of the tracks it reused from SC1. SC2 only really had Healing Winds. That was the only track that was really similar between SC1 and SC2.

Tis why I love playing on the 360. I can freely play whatever music I want. Forget paying for all the old SC songs. I already bought the SC2 OST, why should I have to pay for the songs again?

But actually, I listen to random kick-assery like the Devil May Cry soundtracks and Persona 3 battle music while playing SC4.

sc2 does have some amazing tracks...but to be honest, i still think no other game matches Castlevania SotN.

Lost painting? Moonlight Nocturne?
it gives me that chilly feeling when you feel touched listening to moonlight haha. no homo.
lost painting is amazing btw

Castlevania SotN does have one of the most amazing soundtracks for a video game, but it does not stand alone in its pedestal of greatness.

That track is a good one, but it all stems from "So Heavenly" from Soul Blade. I actually liked the Sophie Cassandra stage music in SC3 more than the one in SC2.

Maybe we need a VG soundtracks thread. People can say what they like, or even post links to tracks. I'm fucking LOVING the GGXX soundtrack.

SC3 Soph stage is good too, although I prefer SC2's.

Not a SC2 song, but still an example of good SC music. This one stemmed straight from SC1's "Duelists."

Daisuke did do some awesome stuff for GGXX. I will admit that one of my all time favorite fighting game tracks is just Guile's theme from Street Fighter 2. That is just classic work right there.

I noticed that a great deal of SC3's soundtrack came from SC1, but I didn't really catch that one.

That Mitsu track is gorgeous. I don't know if I paid much attention to 3's soundtrack, I think i'm going to have to go back and play it some more.

Oh and SF2 definitely had some gems; Balrog, Ryu, Ken, Guile

Upon re-listening to SCII's OST, I've come to a realization. While the OST is alright (I still consider SC1's score far superior), there is only ONE track in that entire game that I actually like and would actually want to download if Namco puts SC2 stage music as DLC; Cass and Sophie's stage - Eurydice Shrine. I forgot how epic that track was and upon listening to the other stage tracks after hearing that one, I was pretty disappointed. Eurydice Shrine is easily the best theme in SC2 and one of the best themes in the Soul Series.

The Inferno track "Hellfire" was great with the intro, but without it, it was only alright.

Eurydice Shrine was a good track, but it was definitely not my favorite track in SC2 or even close to it.

i never really pay any attention to songs in games unless its a racing game.

Seriously? Sometimes the music creates a great fucking atmosphere for a situation in a game...like boss fights in Devil May Cry etc...

it's hard not to notice a piece of music when it's kicking you right in your eardrums invoking a particular emotion that blends perfectly with the game.

Silent Hill - while it doesn't have the most memorable of OST; it's unique in that the odd sounds and effects purposely put you on edge. Akira Yamaoka is fantastic at what he does.

To me, Nintendo have been playing on nostalgia for WAY too long. In fact, one of the few things I liked in Galaxy was that redeux of one of the SMB3 themes. Zelda and Mario rely way too much on reusing old music now.

Some of you are suffering delusion of nostalgia; 2 and 3 clearly had superior soundtracks.

1's has a samey-quality to all the tracks. Instrumentation wise, while their tempos and arrangements are clearly different; they still feel incredibly samey.

Argue the fact that 2/3 may have sourced from 1 and I will simply state that the arrangement in the later game is superior; such as Hwangs theme becoming Lizzys - 3 sounds alot nicer.

edit: I don't want to come off as totally arrogant and uncompromising; 1 has a great soundtrack, but I just thought I would do as others do on here, state my opinion like facts without any room for "you're right, but how about this". I see alot of it around here, not sure if its blind arrogance or what...maybe I should simply ignore it.

You have a point, but some of the best tracks from SC1 didn't go to SC3. I will admit that it is a tough call for soundtracks. SC1 definitely has good tunes, and SC1 definitely had bad sound quality.

I often say that I like the OST for SC1 more than SC2, but after listening to them back to back, SC2 has a better soundtrack.

Nostalgia aside, I still stand by my opinion on that SC1 has a better music score. However, like any other matter in terms of music, it's a matter of personal taste. SC1 has the most number of tracks I would want to listen to on a regular basis out of the entire series.

Favorite SC1 songs:

I prefer the original over the SC III reprised version.

Favorite SC2 songs (SWBeta posted one earlier):

Favorite SC3 song:

I prefer this version over the SCIV version by a large margin.

Favorite SC4 songs:

I basically just posted my all time favorite themes of the entire series.
