Maxi Video Discussion

LOL I know, you gonged the fuck outta me. That was funny. Unfortuantly that was the only vid left of our fights. I think there were some better ones, but its all I could find. But yeah man. We gotta get some rounds in for sure. I MIGHT be on this evening, if you see me, throw me an invite!!

I just tested this out in training mode, but it didn't combo... Anybody have any idea why it combo'd in the above vid?

Just looking at the vid again, it doesn't look like you got ch6A. Unless I'm just looking at the wrong spot, HRD blocked it, ducked then ate the RO B because he was crouching.
 
At 50 secs round time in the 3rd round, it clearly says 5 hit combo. I'm stumped. Maybe it's a replay bug?
 
Wouldn't the 6A hit cancel out any recovery frames you are in the middle of?

Anyway, it doesn't seem to be something to rely on. Sticking with RO A,K after 6A CH.
 
I think I had just starting to cancel the 6B4g and I was in the recovery process. If you look very closley, when you hit me with that 6A, my chucks were completly verticle, allowing you to step in and get the CH on me. And of course CH 6A RO AK is guaranteed. Not sure why it worked, but it did. Got lucky I guess.

I also loved that the TC properties in 4B LO B actually worked for me for a change. went right under a 6A attempt of yours.

Try going to training mode and set the opp to do a few 6B4g's and see if you can get the same results. Prolly not something to rely on like you said, but an interesting tactic no less!!

Also, Fhwaorang, what did you mean by the guy being mechanical with his Just Guards tonight? As in using a turbo controller or something? I spoke with him a bit and he said he was a tourney player and that he used to be one of the best Mina's back in older soul calibur games. Still though, I've watched plenty of tourney vids and never seen anyone JG that much and that consistently...
 
He means the guy is almost like a robot, as if he is guided by precision and specific calculations. A freak in other words :)

I'm unsure if you get the context here. I invited Fhwaorang to this player match lobby and told him that this one player seemed really good; that he was just guarding half of my moves. After he played him, he said, "that guy isn't really that good. It's just mechanical." or something along those lines. Would have to check the message on psn.

I did start to figure him out though and took a few games off of him when he was playing what seemed to be some of his weaker characters. He looked legit to me though, as he knew his combos and was tossing out Calamity Symphony as Ivy when he was playing her.

I'll have to check on the replay. The mitsu in the vid above is not the same guy me and Fhwaorang were talking about. He did have a decent ivy that I beat earlier though.

I might be able to hop on tonight. We'll see though. I was up till 5am Friday, 4am Saturday, and didn't sleep before 1-2am on Sunday and Monday. My body might just pass out early tonight. Haha.

He is indeed good. But by mechanical I meant his JGs, not his gameplay overall (which is what may impress other people). He is always attempting to JG (regardless of what you do) in specific circunstances. For instance, if I were him, I would force Maxi's 66K block and then I just press G lightly to attempt a JG because my experience tells me that in disadvantage, an unterruptable attack is coming. So, he didn't really know if his JG was going to work or not. That's mechanical. He was just pressing G lightly after some key attacks (safe attacks), to stop your relation.

In previous SC games, GI was used this way: you block an attack, the enemy feels at disavantage, wants to keep the offensive and attemps to GI your retaliation. It's same with Saioh, but with JG.

The point is: JGing half of your moves isn't that great if he isn't punishing them. He JG a lot of shit to me and only punished once, I think (WS B). So if he doesn't punish, he doesn't know he is going to JG or what is he JGing. But yeah, he is good, no doubt. =)
