SCV Ivy Video Thread

I think it was 6:4 in Leixia's favor before the patch, now it seems more even.

66BB is really annoying after the backdash nerf. Is CH 66BB, 33BB a combo btw? I think this is a good move, people are not used to their opponent stepping the second hit so I usually get the guaranteed whiff punish, but they can mix 66B into something, like 3A+B.

3[K] sucks on hit. You should try this in practice, 3[K] into bK seems extremely difficult combo to land if the opponent tries to tech. The stun is so short that this combo is almost a just frame. And it's the strongest followup, it does 61 dmg IIRC.

3B, (B) is not a combo. You can tech the second hit and punish Ivy with everything.

For CS, I use the normal input. Haven't gotten iCS even once using the two circles method. I only try iCS online for the laugh, I can only get it from neutral (it doesn't work for me when I buffer it) so it gets easily telegraphed and never works for me offline.
 
As a matter of interest Ring, why exactly do you not consider the IvyXLeixia matchup in Ivy's favour? Seems she has an advantage to me. =/

Also regarding the videos: 1st video @ 2:03 - You are a showoff and I hate you =P.
 
That was my impression of this match-up before the patch.

Ivy was no threat at far range (which is Leixia's weakness) because all her ranged moves dealt >20 dmg and had bad tracking, also extremely unsafe on block. So stepping against Ivy at far range was almost risk free.

Leixia had advantage at step killing with safe moves like 4A, 3A+B, 44[A], 66AA, her guard burst was much better, she could 4A out of CE, and of course WS B BE which sidesteps to Ivy's weak side. The only move that would stop WS B BE mixups most of the time was 1K but it's -20 on block and after a while it gets predictable.

Right now I think it's more even but I still need more offline experience to be certain. I played against Kappa from Germany on PSN two days ago, he said Leixia is now crap and not tournament viable anymore. I don't know if that's true or not.

Give him a break Cow, he doesn't even main Ivy this time as far as I'm concerned.

Hands down, NFK is better than me right now (and we fought to prove it). He might not be able to do CS as consistently, but his spacing game and general movement is superior than my own.

I suggest to anyone watching his Ivy vids to just note what moves he uses at which distance, and how he punishes. Good stuff all in all.
 
Odd how a legit Ivy user kinda struggles through the top 8, but immediately after he switches to NM he dominates.

Ivy: 0, NM: 1 =[
 
I wasn't too impressed either... I'm not a great player, but I found his movement rather awkward... And as effective as his movement might have been, he was rather boring to watch...

It was more that Alex didn't know the NM matchup. Don't get me wrong, Alex has NEVER fought an Ivy prior to the tournament, but Ivy isn't nearly as gimmicky as NM. You could maybe get by for not knowing Ivy and just playing solid, but you can't say the same for NM.

You'll notice this because during GF of NCR, when NFK reset the bracket, Hates actually went over to talk to Alex and said 'use 2A and 2K' more to interrupt GS, among other things. Again, seems basic but Alex wasn't used to doing that.

Yall are being very critical of NFK game its pretty solid to me. As much as saw things i didnt like/understand there were things that like and plan to use.
 
Haha, don't get me wrong, I never said Noface was bad.
In soul calibur 4, he was the only person on xboxlive that could consistently kick my ass in an Ivy mirror matchup.
However, as Ring said, seems like Ivy isn't his main anymore...I guess I'll cut him some slack.
His nightmare also notably had a hardtime against me, too.
But that's probably because fighting nightmare is my specialty.
:P

Now if only I can get better fighting SSnort's viola.
The record between SSnort and me is something like 47:11 in his favor.

Gah, xbox is stupid, we don't have the upload replay functionality.
I guess I could record it with a camera...but it certainly won't be pretty.
I will try next time we fight.
 
Lol didn't execpt to see this when I got off of work. Please be very crtitcal of my playi like to hear somethings about my play that I haven't picked up on my own.
