Create A Soul Mode Patch Ideas

Some great ideas guys. I've added some to the sticky.
Hey, man, thanks for taking the initiative on this.

Have you tried to get in contact with NB or PS already to show them the list or the threads? I know you said they probably already look through these forums for feedback, so I was wondering if you or anyone had any plans to engage in more active communication with them. It might get us what we want more quickly and accurately, assuming NB and/or PS are the type to listen to their customers outside of Japan.

Also, what criteria do you use to decide whether or not an idea gets onto the list? It's not that I'm questioning your judgement, but if we do get in contact with the devs, an idea on your list will get a lot more attention and consideration than one that isn't.

1. Do a lot of people seem to want it? (This is how the gender specific clothing thing got on there, because I really don't want it myself, except in maybe a few cases).
2. Is it something that's really a substantial contribution to the CAS mode? (If someone thinks an extra ruffle on the wonder jacket would make it look better, that's cool, but not really worth mentioning).
3. Does it just sound cool? (A smoke/water/coins weapon trail sounds awesome!)

I haven't tried to contact PS myself, but if any of you, or all of you, would like to post a message to Daishi's twitter (@Daishi_CALIBUR) with a link to the sticky, or even this thread, maybe he'll take notice. IDK.

.Allow to create ORIGINAL Ezio-style characters.
(I guess that should be done with Algol-style too...idk..)

.More stuff on extra equipment (the one that allows 3 extra "floating" piesces)
(stuff like reptile tail/feet, sword and shield(no, turtle shell in not good enough for shield)

.at least 1-2 more weapons for all styles (and they should be able too colour them( can't do that to all weapons):

A death scythe for Astheroth-style (zasazamel anyone?)
2 heavy swords for Aeon-style (Kratos..?)
an REAL GUN and a sword for Cervante-style (All the weapons look the same and not ONE of them has a REAL gun)
2 katanas for Cervante-style (SC IV Shura)
Sword WITHOUT banner on the back for Yoshimitsu-style
Umbrella sword for Alpha P.-style (Setsuka)
Mayby some StarWars weapons for certain styles (sound effects and weapon effects could be added too(if not thru weapon, then weapon effects)

  • the ability to modify stickers' width and length individually as opposed to their size
  • the ability to translate paired equipment (e. g. horns, feathers of strength, goddess' feather brooch) across their horizontal axis as opposed to setting them further apart from each other, which is what the "horizontal" slider currently adjusts

Star Wars weapons:
Mitsu (Darth Vader/Obi Wan)
Sets/Apat (Apprentice)
Yotshi (Without the flag) (Maybe Anakin? In EP II and III he held the sword like that)
Xiba (Darth Maul) (Need to rework moves so he dont grab it by the laser zone, lulz)
Cerv (Griveous 2 sword mode / That white woman of Clone wars wich name i cant remember)

And what about unmirror them, and mirror other stuff? So if i just want 1 damned horn, i get my 1 damned horn
Now that I think about it, it would've been totally hilarious if Mitsurugi's joke weapon was a red lightsaber.
If it was like that, I'll insta main'd mitsu

I was thinking about this one yesterday...
What if we could change hair length? Like if its too short you can make it longer. It would use a slider oh and like what if we had the option to make the hair curly or wavy or straight? :o Also for the hair what if we could apply high lights?
Just a thought :]

And what about unmirror them, and mirror other stuff?

Most of the time, you adjust the rotate vertically/horizontally/angle and horizontal sliders until the two pairs fuse together to look like one item. The problem then becomes moving that fused item across its horizontal axis to achieve an asymmetrical design.

Mirroring other stuff is as simple as using another special equipment slot to mirror whatever's in another slot. Did you have an example for which a mirror on/off switch should be possible? Of course, it would be nice if you could just turn mirroring on and off for any item. This was how I thought special equipment was going to work when I saw the CaS trailer.

While we're on the subject of asymmetrical designs, let's throw in a mirror on/off switch for pauldrons, too, to allow for one-pauldron designs.

I don't like how certain parts conflict with others. For example I want to use a belt on someone who wears a coat, however the game doesn't let me >_> .
They could patch it so that some stuff can be worn while wearing other parts like coats, capes, etc. Doesn't matter if it looks ridiculous or not.

also - could that interfere with hitboxes ? I read some stuff about body mass and equipment changing the hitboxes

That has more to do with changing the character's height. Non-recommended heights for a given fighting style have different range, damage, and hitboxes. That's part of why CaS is banned at tourneys.

I don't know if equipment would screw with hitboxes. Maybe if you gave your CaS the obnoxious thunder god's drums setup to make it difficult for your opponent to gauge where your hitboxes are.

I go straight for my oppenent...even if they have those stupid drums...I go straight for them and slash them to death.

In spite of all these ideas, wouldn't it be better to focus on things that could actually be realistically patched in without much trouble? I mean, the amount of tweaks being suggested seems basically impossible to come from a free patch to me. I'd be happy to see them, but I just don't think this will result in anything. For example, although adjustable faces, hats, belts and capes would be nice, it seems like it'd take some heavy changes to the core Custom system in order for those to become possible.

Really, I think the focus should be on few things that could actually be done by a patch. Looking from that side, I think the two most realistic suggestions for patches are:

-More CaS slots (100? 150? Either way, it shouldn't need some big revamp of the game's system I hope).

-Less equipment conflict - more equipment that can be worn alongside other pieces and just gets partially deactivated, rather than completely forbidden combinations. Here's an example: The spyrobe can be worn alongside the two leather belts and just loses the lower part, the large cloth in front of the legs, and it can be worn alongside one of the cloth belts, but the first one (resembling a karate belt) doesn't allow the combination for some random reason. I remember that people were able to do some interesting mixes of usually forbidden equipment combinations by hacking the game in SCIV, so eliminating some unnecessarily forbidden equipment combinations shouldn't be hard for people working on the game.

Honestly, I would rather have the do these adjustments for the next game. Especially if they do it on a new console ( i head somewhere a new console would be released around 2013-15) So it would be "cool" not but it would be "AWESOMLYGREATTHATITMAKESMECUM" for when the product is ready. I dont want a rushed game~ I can wait ^^ Just as long as they dont make me wait to long or ill hurt them,( Xianghua voice: Just Kidding~;D (( wow thats just..)) )

I guess for myself what I'd like to see (in the next game because asking for it in SCV is just too much) is parts by element. That is to say things like separating hairstyles into parts. Maybe bangs, backs, side burns, and multiple slots for tails and such (Maybe even option for different hair ties/ribbons/etc.).

For that matter separating some of the items in certain categories. I don't see why a character can't have glasses and a cape.

How about a simple checkbox for symmetrical pairs vs. single items. For instance, maybe you want a character with only one horn. Of course just giving us extra slots and going with all singles works too.

Stop limiting where we can put stuff (nice technical term there).

Individual color assignment for paired weapons. Maybe I want Cervantes' blade two different colors.

Color effects (limited). Make in glossy, make it semi-transparent, or metallic, or matte, or glowing, or some combo thereof. Naturally some do exclude others. Can't have something glossy and matte at the same time.

All access to patterns. Make checkered stickers. Heck make a checkered skin or hair. Go nuts. Sure, some may argue that they don't want to see that sort of thing, but there's no guarantee that they want to see everything you have in mind either.

-This isn't really some thing I want to see, but to avoid some complaints, maybe a weirdness limiter for match-ups. That way those who don't want to play against giant rainbow colored cats don't have to. Not really CAS, but it's CAS related.

Layers, dang it. Some items could go over other items in the same category with a bit of auto-resizing (which is already in the game to a limited extent).

The return of a mode where CAS characters get some type of skill/stat assignment (not necessarily tied to equipment itself). Totally optional, and you can use characters in normal modes too. You just wouldn't have the skills/stats.

As has already been said: unisex, uniform color palate, better dimensional control of items patters and stickers, etc.

I guess what it boils down to is I (and it seems others) want more freedom.

Lmao i like to make weird stuff = 3 =;; But yeah i love the ideas you came up with :o

Did someone already mention Elysium's dress?

Evidently you can't wear any other undergarments with it.

Yeah, that needs to be resolved ASAP.

I thought it was incompatible because of the underwear thing underneath it. I think that would be the same "item" the game is talking about....IMO..the underwear and the tube-top-looking thing she wears underneath her see through clothes should have been separated into the "undergarments" section.
