So I've been watching my cousin play SCV for the past few hours now. He's been an avid player of IV ever since I introduced it to him, and he's been playing fairly well. When introduced into V, he did what others typically did and immediately was discontented with how some move sets have been changed. Now this complaint is justifiable.
However, as of recently he's been swapping around characters simply because he finds his old characters to be "not good anymore" (Namely Nightmare and Leixia(Xianghua)). Now he's only looked at Leixia's move set, but he's entirely judging Nightmare on initial play.
I'm currently watching him play Legendary Souls Mode (admittedly the evilest mode in the game), and I see him just keep switching about his characters, some he's never played before or even looked at the move list once, and expecting to actually attain some progress.
Now I know for a fact he's unjustified in the fact he's looking for an easy way out by swapping to characters he thinks will automatically do better, as only diligence, patience, and perseverance (especially in legendary souls mode) will lead to victory in this sense. This is the difference between an unskilled and a skilled player, taking the time to train and learn a character instead of juggling between them in an attempt to think this game is like rock paper scissors.
However, by some professional opinions, are some characters nerfed from how they were before?
If so, what would be alternative characters to both Leixia and Nightmare?
If not, how do I convince him to stop thinking this is the easy way out?
