Hilde: Q&A/General Discussion Thread

You don't have that Range son! And air throw (lol)

im sorry but i16 1st frame crouch -9 on guard leading to 35damage without (BEs) or up to 77 with (BEs) not counting the clean hit rate. + if its BE'd the range is much better.

i stand by my statement that maxis 6A+B and variations are probably the greatest TC move in the game.

Man now you guys fighting on hilde forum.... I wouldn't even call bk hildes best TC move. And i agree with oreo's statement. Ill leave it at that.

Random discovery: If you JG the 2nd hit of Hilde's C3BA in a mirror match, you can punish with B+K.
Lol.

Also, for any Elysium players, C4B → CE is a combo. 228 damage normally, 246 on a counter clean hit.
I would like to say something productive to that, but that's just plain interesting... to say the least.

If you JG C3BA, you Can 3BE. Better damage than B+K. Or if you don't want to use meter, 3BA C1B for 64. Hell, I think if you JG it you might get all the way to 22B.

C3B is auto two hits. If they did the A as well, they just set themselves up for a -58 punisher or something
Only time I do the A is when I'm certain that they'll try a slow punisher, and I'm trying to float just that little bit longer.

Hmm that is true, I've done that to nightmare a few times and saved myself a world of pain. Plus Hilde does have some slower punished as well. Well said Runis, I guess that's why you run this joint.

So I've been playing Hilde a bit, and I'm pretty consistent with C2B > G loops... On characters like Ivy.

But when I try it on Viola it's like Hilde doesn't even make an effort. Especially after 88B, the FIRST C2B often whiffs. Any advice?

Same thing happens vs Pyrrha - they just have tiny hitboxes and I find that 22B -> C2B has a stricter timing and may whiff against them if hit at ~90 degrees.

Is there a more reliable follow up to 88B. Also, is attempting the loop even worth it against them?

Did some testing in the lab.
Against Pyrrha & Viola, C2B will randomly whiff if used at minimum range after 22_88B.
(I thought it was something to do with the angles because it would sometimes whiff after sidestepping and whiff punishing 3B with 22_88B -> c2B). A follow up 66A+B, C1B or CE might be a better choice in this situation.
I like 66A+B because it gives good Oki.

Personally, I wouldn't risk the loop against Pyrrha because a miss = a stab. Not fun lol.

Against NM and Astaroth though, loops are fun.

Thanks, I appreciate the info.

I was trying C2B loops against my Viola sparring partner, and almost every time that my C2B whiffed he could 3B. And Viola 3B = death.
