Hilde: Q&A/General Discussion Thread

No. It's garbage; a complete waste of space even with its startup TC, lol.
44B, however, is ridiculously good -> unseeable, backstepping, safe-ish low which can be used to gain space at both disadvantage & advantage. I call it the "Pat killer" because it beats most of his options after he opens you up 1K. Also, it can frame trap into homeland on hit. Gotta love dat homeland.

If you have any more tips for the 101/guide, post up and let me know. I would love to know what people are interested in watching. I'm planning on covering some basic topics like strengths and weaknesses, top moves/uses, meter use, basic punishment, and "knowledge exploitation" (aka gimmicks 101)!

Anything that isn't common knowledge that should be common knowledge would be useful. Like the best way for her to punish lows, what to do after JG, GI, and Guard Breaks, Poke/BA/Advantage strings, when and when not to charge attacks. All of that good stuff. You have my support :o!

But...I hope you don't emphasize her c2b loop. I think that ends up being a crutch for many people new to the character, and they end up picking her or dropping her depending on whether or not they can pull it off (like I did back in February). I always end with C3A, because meterless 90+ damage on a whiff punish is nothing to sneeze at :|. Just my opinion.

I have only found one good use for 4B. Vs other long range opponents(asty, hilde,nm,seig) if your standing just in max range of their attacks you can use the 4b like mitsu's 4b. SO think of it like mitsu 4b that only works at max range.

best low punish is while rising kick or 66k. Use while rising kick if they are close, and use 66k if they are to far to punish with while rising k. Her low punish game is pretty bad.

matters what you jg to what punish you can get, for the most part best punish moves after jg will be 66k,2AB,aa

Learn how to always use c2a, and never use c3a even though it will beat a lot of people. Using c3a is the real crutch. PLay around with the c2a timing. maybe you do something like AA- hold 2nd a-66k-c2a. PLay with the timing of c2a. I dont have any exact strings i just play with the charge time while doing other safe attacks. Learn how to wavedash on both sides. This is actually very very important. Cause if you dont wavedash with hilde characters will get to close to you to fast. And you wont be able to space them out.

After guard break i do AB hold-c2b loop

If someone is close to you, you dont want to be charging. If you get knocked down, you dont want to be charging. Keep people at c2a's range and wavedash away from them. If they break c2a range let go of all charges.

every once in awhile use c4a, but dont use it every match. maybe once a game or sometimes once every other game.

learn how to juggle with 3b be. It is alot easier then the raw c2b loop. easily you can do this loop 100%. And its really good to do for extra damage or RO combo's.

use 66k as your main punish tool. at far range use c3b.

when you start to play around with hildes combo's and you want to know timings i can help you. But you have to have some idea of what im saying before i can tell you. hope this stuff helps

As lame as it sounds, her most reliable punish against most lows is WR K. Which gives next too no damage and only marginal frame advantage.
66K kinda works too but its harder to get as a -14 punish and will prob only work as -15
Her best punish would probably be CE since it punishes -16 which a lot of lows are, but its hard to pull off consistently as there normally isn't enough block stun on a low to buffer the 236236 in time.
Against obscenely bad stuff you can 3B and against Xiba Get up A+B you can theoretically 22B him.

Solid advice for a guide
Even more good stuff

Sorry, I wasn't really asking those questions for myself, but to give Hussler a few more ideas for his guide. I've just figured out the way I want to play Hilde ( more high risk, high reward) and a gameplan for each battle i go into. But this is still really helpful advice for any new guys (me included in ways) coming in and I hope it gets to more players easier now :).

Keeping this thread alive is just a bonus...

.......... Well if the thread is alive or dead does not really matter to me. If someone wants to know something just post it and ill answer as fast as i can. Im sure hussler is aware of all that stuff i said anyways.

Alright, I find it quite easy enough to charge B to get the unblockable. I have A also set for my LB button so it's not too hard fighting with just horiztonals and kicks as Hilde has great close quarter tools for them.

BUT!!! Does anyone ever use the horiztonal unblockable and how do you manage to fight off your opponent with just verticals and kicks? I can't see what moves would work well and quick enough to keep them at bay long enough to execute C4A.

[edit: ahhh the topic title is stuck as it is with my incorrect diction lol]

Funny how I never see any advice about Hilde's 3A. Great against strings, or mids that you know are coming.

(merged with general discussion thread)
^pretty much what slade said. But be sure to whore 3K as well. It's her best horizontal and is highly spammable. When they whiff, punish it with c4A and you are good to go :).

wtf...I didnt say that? :S the snap crackle pop thing that is

with that done to me, then I'm free to "quote" other users and actually edit what they "said" and then this board is gonna become a huge lot for misquoted posts AND ANARACHY!!!!

I have been trying gather information for a Auto-GIing vs Devil Jin guide im working on and i was wondering does anyone know if Hilde's 3A/or 3A*hold* auto GI work with on body attacks or kicks? I cant test it myself at the moment.

No, doesn't work on body attacks or kicks. :(

I'm guessing going for C2A a lot is not a good idea? Today i experienced players that actually just guarded the 2nd hit pretty accurately. So i'm guessing i should just use standard 5aa to catch most horizontals or just do C1A?

Well i am kind of confused about this statement. There are 3 charges c1-c3. C3a hit's twice and can be JG on second hit. the people that i play against JG this move almost every time. You want to use c2a, cause its the best on block and it leads to a combo. C1a is just there unless you dont charge long enough, it also wall splats.\

to catch step you can use

c1a,c2a,A+B,66a,6aka,6akb,22_88 aa,4a, uh maybe some others.

I totally screwed up what i meant and i'm sorry for that. I meant to say C3A not C2A. Very sorry about that. Thanks for giving me an idea for what i can use for stepping. I rarely use A+B, if not at all.

its cool man not a big deal, i knew what you meant. You can spam non hold A+B at distance vs a lot of characters. Its all about spacing.
