8WayRun Fanfiction: The Writer's Block

Awesome. I actually have an idea about including a fanfiction of one of my characters in the form of a diary, mainly about her life during the SC universe. A few significant Japanese characters/figures (both sc and historically) will be included in different ways.

I'm researching like crazy to find out any important timelines from her birth to 1607 (The year of SCV). That includes any SC events in Japan, and also some historical information.
Sounds interesting enough. I'm down plus I love history.

Ah Tenchi, don't take it to heart. :) There are a couple of things you should know, however. 8wr is mostly a competitive site. FF was never taken seriously, often ridiculed and only recently did they even decide to put up an FF forum. There's a small audience for it here and it's gotten even smaller after sc5's release. I'm a writer too and I understand that feedback is a very important part of getting better. Don't take it down but do consider putting it on fanfiction.net. You'll probably find more like-minded people who will drop you a review every now and then. :)

Thanks so much. That's true about fanfic's, I forgot that ff isn't the most popular read. I do have an account on Fanfiction.net. Although I haven't gotten any reviews, I've been getting a steady number of watches. I've learned to be confident in my fandom and ability to write stories. Everything you said is s true. 8way is a competitive site. I should keep this in mind. Thank you so much for the encouragement. sorry it took long to reply. I had no idea you wrote to me until I checked the commentaries. I usually get notified on replies. I'm glad I was able to check through the comments today. XD Thanks once again. ^^

Welcome to our little hovel. You'll do well here, Tenchi.

What do you typically write?

Thank you. ^^ sorry for the late reply. Had allot of going ons here and there.

Typically, I write Create a Soul Fanfic. I just finished writing my first SC3 fanfic called "Joey the Ronin Samurai: Chronicles of the Sword." I was really inspired by the SC3 quest mode which allowed created characters to be the main character of a quest story. I know, CAS fanfics may not be the most popular, but, it's nice to be able to write my own tales of souls and swords. Even reading other people's fanfics with their CAS is like another legendary tale that gets added in the archive of the Soul Calibur world.

It's like you get to meet your favorite characters and take part in an epic tale. I personally think it's interesting to see how fans would react to characters if we were to actually meet them, and CAS fanfic makes it a fun possibility to imagine.

I have an account on fanfiction .net My fanfic, Chronicles is completed, but it's taking a long time to actually type the rest of the chapters and posting them onto the site. I'm already working on a sequel, "Joey the Ronin Samurai: Tales of Souls" and some brain storms on SC4 "Towers of Lost Souls" I have yet to think of Sc5, but that depends on what SC6 will be about. And what became of the missing characters. I like to base my original story around the events and tales of the standard characters.

There's also a bit of a cross over involve but to the extent of introducing the guest characters, and also in the case of some similarities that may be interesting to add into the element of the story. Long story short, I put allot of thought into my fanfic. XD

You're more than welcome to check it out, if you have the time. I know reading fanfics can be time consuming. I'm still reading someone's fanfic here. And I have another author who invited me to read his afterwards. I'm pretty much a book worm. XD I enjoy reading, and sharing thoughts and encouragement to other authors. every writer, no matter the level of writing shares a level of strength and styles that inspires me. I hope my fanfic will be inspiring for others as well. The great thing about fanfics is that it can be a source of inspiration to something original. ^^

Hi, everyone. I haven't written a fanfiction since I've completed Saviors of the Sword: Amidst the Chaos but I'm thinking about making another Saviors of the Sword story, to make it like a trilogy or a new fanfiction altogether. So right now, I am announcing two titles that could be possibly in the works. One is Saviors of the Sword: The Two Deities and the other is called The Walking Malfested, which is pretty much a combination between AMC's The Walking Dead meets the Soul Calibur V universe.

Currently developing a story about Ivy and Cervantes being lawyers and battling each other in the courtroom about every little thing.

I'm starting to lose interest in writing fanfic. I feel like I'm wasting my time putting all of my best ideas into something other creators have done. I'm seriously considering deleting my fanfic and taking my best ideas and putting it into my own original novel instead. Not that I'm giving up or anything, just thought it's time I move onto something more productive with my writing. I'm having way too much trouble with electronics. Whenever I touch it, be it a lap top, a printer, and so forth, it acts up, and because of this, I often lose years of art work from my harddrive, despite attempts of backing up my files. I'm better off with good old fashion pen on paper. Just leave the technical stuff to the ones who can get the darn machines to work in their favor, cause apparantly, it is not working for me, I've tried, but the results are always the same. I've teamed up with several artist and computer people on a collaboration for an original project. I realize that my creative idea is one that I just can't accomplish on my own. I need help. I'm also thinking of leaving 8wayrun, and setting the soul calibur interest behind me. Not that I have any problems with this site, it's just that I hardly visit here very often, and my situation is just too demanding of my time. So I don't get to enjoy this site nor do I get the time to enjoy the game play. I just don't have the time anymore. It's been fun, for what it's worth. But, part of my frustration is that I put too much time and effort into something that just isn't working out for me. I realize that and thought it's time I take wings and leave the nest for something more. I plan to leave fanfiction.net also. I gotta find what really works and run with it. And what better way to do it than to do my own thing. Only God knows, perhaps it's not that it isn't working out, but simply a sign that I should move on to something bigger. I just know I can do better.

I'm trying to make a character profile, not so much of a story...yet. Well technically I am.
I'm new at this and I need some advice. W/o giving too much away yet.

I'm trying to create a new character with ties to a certain character in this game. He's been cursed and the curse turns his limbs into weapons (swords). He's a nine year old boy.

>>My question is what sort of personality do you think he should have? I'm trying to make him unique. I have a great backstory for him but I can't figure out if he should be strong hearted (similar to Kilik) or scared/timid (like Pyrrha) or rebellious/angry.<<

What would be "realistic" for a 9 year old boy, that has been cursed for his entire life, due to an ancestor's (...it's a secret atm and no, he's not related to the Alexandra's)? He also has some reason to be grateful, as this curse in particular, is not as bad as what it should have been.

Additionally, he lost one parent due to this curse, (as a baby) but he is not aware of this. Nor has his living parent told him. But his living parent is aware he (the boy) is cursed too.

Ill try to fill in all the blanks I left here, once I start creating the character.sorry if this was confusing to read lol XD. I'm trying to be cryptic.

Go for a personality you're comfortable with. If I have to guess, I think this is maybe your first fanfic right, Lissoya? So for example, if you're not a rebellious person by nature, it's alittle hard to write the way a rebellious char would act/think in different situations. It takes practice to juggle multiple personalities so starting off, it's best to have a character that's similar to you since you can make their dialogue, actions, and thoughts flow more.

And as for 'realistic', it's all up to you. Characters that have sad pasts can be bubbly and cheerful for different reasons. Some likes to put on a fake happy mask while they feel like trash on the inside. People are different and it's fun to work with different perspectives. But as a start, I definitely suggest going to a personality you can relate to.

(>^_^) Hope that helped.

Thanks, and yeah, Darkwings, this will be my first fanfic.
I'm not the best writer but I love to try new things.
Thanks again for all the advice, I've been writing out the story little by little. Starting with the back story and why this character was cursed. And working my way up to the "present".

Timid and strong hearted...

?? Did you liked? if is that what you mean...
I'm sorry, I'm in the middle of reading some of it right now. Before I read the rest of it, is there any place that you would like even ME to submit your work to anyone (companies per say)... no don't get me wrong, I never would want to pry into anyone's work for exposing gain nor exploiting purposes. I just want to see if you want to spread out your network. It's all about nurturing here at our 8wayrun Soul Calibur Community, partner.
