This. I mean PS3 still has a lot of potential and devs are still going to be making games for it after PS4 release so I don't really see the point in buying it on launch for $500 bucks. -_-

I'll be waiting for SC6 for a PS4 purchase ^_^

Ya DIME, they say they won't block used games but they might charge a fee for using used games like Xbox One is doing.

Ya but XboxOne has a lot of turn offs, such as fee for playing used games. And always has to be connected to internet to play offline or single player. That is just lame. Huge non-selling points for MS i think...
We will see if PS4 will have the same douchebaggary for Sony's console

Its not a decision MS and Sony made freely but its just that you need to put in the hardware of the older console for it to work. The drawback of that is that you have to make the consoles way more expensive, which is more downside than upside. Remember how much money an old 60 GB PS3 costed?

They kinda decided for the lesser evil and made the consoles more affordable in sacrifice of backwards compatibility. At least in that regard i cant blame MS/Sony for their decision.

well now that PS4 is "pc based" essentially, when they make PS5, PS6 ect, the backwards compatibility problem, at least as i see it, will be solved. and by then sony will be able to emulate PS3 on their console just fine im sure. i mean nobody knows their hardware better than they do. and PS4 wont have to really be emulated at all when the next sony console comes out because it is PC based. sony could potentially have a really really great thing going on here.
 
Doesn't even matter what console is better hardware-wise, the better console will be at the mercy of games optimizing themselves for the 'lesser' console.

At least in that regard we have nothing to fear in this generation, since both consoles use an X86 architecture, which is also a pretty common PC standard. So they basically need to make only one version, and can use every platforms resources to the max.
 
wow.. people more hyped about ps4 than xbox one.. yet.. there's nothing to talk about on the ps4...

at least microsoft gave you something to talk about.. gave you shit to speculate on. that free marketing right? and they got all of you talking about xbox one.. sony just kinda showed you everything except what the ps4 actually looks like? that and a couple of other things.. but nothing controversial..

Whenever they make Gran Turismo for PS4 it better be good... Not like GT5, that game was bad enough I bought a 360 instead of a PS3. Also, I know GT6 was announced(before anyone tells me) but it's for PS3 only so I don't care.
 
Not going to lie. I'm eyeballing the PS4 pretty hard. Streaming mah games over dem internets so everyone can watch, without having to buy pc stuff to do that. Pretty cool. The console could literally be a toaster that plays games and that wouldn't matter. I just wanna see their plans and policies before I jump on the S.S. Sony.

But I reserve excitement til I see what else they gt up their sleeves E3, Post-E3, and Launch(via early adopters impressions and receptions) I'm never getting a launch console ever again. Learned my lesson with the Xbox 360 hardware failures(went through 8 of them) and Wii U's....being a Wii U.

Will wait couple of months, maybe a year? PS3 and 360 will still be viable for a couple more years anyways. :p

Yeah, I understand how you feel.
Tho I am getting a PS4. I just have to wait a bit till my job situation is a bit more stable.

That and I have a kid now, so my priorities have changed a bit.

So I don't think I'll be getting one on launch. Looking at the line up from what they showed in their
earlier press conference way back, nothing really grabbed me besides Infamous second son.
Not really interested in Destiny, Killzone, racing game, and what else? yeah nothin really there right now.

So I feel like I can wait a bit. besides, I'm still waiting on a couple of ps3 games:

final fantasy vs xiii and The Last Guardian. Once I know of these two games fates.. that'll decide my want and need for a ps4. Can't wait for the last of us.

I'm still on the fence about the xbox one though. they wounded me deep with that xbox. and horror stories drove me away from the 360. that and there wasn't anything on the 360 that merited a purchase. but xbox one.... i'm still on the fence on that one... I'm going to have to wait and see.
 
I came to see how this "PS Family" is doing, & it looks like it only has 2 pages of off-topic posts while XBO has 20. At least this thread seems a bit more positive then XBO's thread. lol
