Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

the next game related thing i'm buying is gonna be the PS4 anyway. there haven't been anything coming out that interest me aside from SC2HD. but other than that there aren't many games that peeked my interest lately except for Beyond: two souls.
 
so ayane, leifang, helena, and sarah were dethroned already? where are they now?
how are zack and lisa now? I heard they jumped out of bottom tier now.

Everyone you listed is still very good, but I can only really speak on Helena. Helena is still really good with her NH stunning lows, she just doesn't have the PFTs anymore. The pressure is still there though, people will usually always tech her BKO 6P after handslaps.
 
There is no tierlist for DOA5U in the US right now, officially. It's too soon to say anything without more characters doing well in offline tournaments and tournament majors. And Alpha is not top tier, lol.

You need to factor in match ups for every character as well, not just tools and damage.
 
Is Alpha really that good that she's considered a definite Top Tier? She seems like she can get hurt badly if someone rushes her down and puts her on the defensive. Characters with good TC abilities like Helena or Ayane for example can limit the use of her i9 jabs or KKKKK's, etc. when in fairly close. She is nightmarish in the damage department, but she's essentially at your mercy if you stun her or knock her down into a corner. Basically, either she does big damage to you or you do big damage to her (it's also never worth it to get hit by a Hi-counter 236236T).

She prays a lot on character ignorance and the belief that she is nothing more than a "mashy, braindead, noobtube".

She is just a mashy character, one that gets high reward for it. It's known in the competitive community that Alpha is a silly ass character.

She does get stupid damage at times from mashing and gets 3 CB's and a 149 dmg throw. It's usually a game of Stay on Alpha's ass and don't get stunned. I find that she's more stupid rather than Top Tier.
