I really wish there are some new rewarding extended epic quests for my character

[08] Mercenary
I only enjoy and know how to use Setsuka/Alpha Patroklos competently, and learning another character seems to conflict with my muscle memory.

Lost Swords may cover my itch a bit if it gets the Setsuka/Alpha Patroklos move set, but I kinda dislike the way the moves vastly have gotten remapped and chain differently for, say, Mitsurugi there when I played the Japanese version. A long and fun extension of the mission modes, like the Weapon Master Mode, from the previous instalments for the latest (PS4/XBox One) and/or last generation (PS3/XBox 360) of consoles is probably what I am looking for. A JRPG progression/story mixed with the Soulcalibur combat system may be cool.

Without some sort of epic quest, I am not sure what I want to do with the character I have trained when I am looking for something besides 1 on 1 multiplayer.

Hopefully, Project Soul would make some sort of cool single/multi player epic quest for all of the characters me and others prefer in Unbreakable Soul or SCVI.

Thanks for your time in reading this. Rant over.

NO.

No more of this complaining about single player options in SC, we already got Lost Swords because of it, and it's the dumbest game I've ever seen and is only holding the series back from new and possibly better things. If I see another game made to appeal to those who have been complaining about lack of single player in SCV before SCVI is released then this franchise will be dead to me.

You all just got the single player aspects you wanted so bad in Lost Swords, play that. If you want a JRPG Soul Calibur, there is Soul Calibur Legends for you.

There's always online, which is a such a varied pool of opponents that you can treat it as an epic quest.
I guess that could be an interesting perspective of looking at online multi-player. However, I just want to have something to strive for in the Soul Calibur universe after collecting all the titles in quick battle mode, achieving A1 without ragequitting online and getting all the trophies in the process. Besides, a single player mode has a better chance of providing a non-stop session of gameplay while online multiplayer generally has hiccups like disconnects, makes you wait between matches and gives you little control of the difficulty.

Hmm, interesting. I must have lived under a rock for far too long and didn't even know there is already a game like Soul Calibur Legends. I just looked at a review for that game, and it seems like it could use some polishing on the gameplay, excessive repetitiveness, controls and camera angles as well as another console to put it on if they were to make another such game/mode.

From SCV, I can see that the online multiplayer design and implementation is generally pretty good overall, and the visuals/assets are great. What I want doesn't need to be a standalone game before SCVI. As long as they can add something worthwhile to SCVI while correcting the areas the latest instalments the franchise are lacking, that would be great.

Well, to be fair, SC Legends was really bad and not a lot of people heard about it, I didn't until years later. But I would prefer them to focus on their gameplay, mechanics, characters, etc. before anything else, once that's done, then we can have all the nice single player things.

Both are awful.
Quick battle?
This too.
You can't even shoehorn a sense of progression into it if LS is anything to go by.

I've often said that SCV would've been better if it's story mode was never even included, but I get the feeling that if they'd focused on getting all the story done first and sacrificing the cut-scenes, we'd have something a bit better...
The point there is, PS has always at least made an effort to have single player content and people seem happy enough with how the core gameplay is now and/or how was in the past... If they could just do what they're already doing but do it well, like pre-SCIV, what would be the problem?

Well that's what majority of the casuals have been asking for since SCV came out, that's what they get. And story should NEVER be the first priority for a fighting game, leave that to games made by TellTale games (and if you want to be picky, the Naruto Storm games). Mechanics, characters, balance, etc should always come first. What's the point of having a good story if the game is a chore to play? And I don't know why people keep going back to previous SC titles as if they had the most amazing single player, story, whatever. I played through all the single player options recently that SCIIHD had to offer and it kept me entertained for like what, a day? I don't see why everyone is requesting to have stuff like that when we have good mechanics as well as online which can offer much more replay value and entertainment in general.

I was being facetious about the quick battle comment. I honestly just miss the minigames from 3. Other than that, the only thing left to do is story mode since I'm unsure how well COTS or edgemaster mode would fare.

@MightyOmega SC5 was rushed. We don't know how the story would have turned out. I mean the gameplay is good and they simply cut out content due to rushing. Would anything have been affected adversely if it was fully complete? Not really.

I have to agree with the SC3 with minigames. They were pretty fun. IF they brought some of those back (or made new ones), I wouldn't complain. I think another cool thing would be if they implemented a small open world for the character to go out and talk to people to buy stuff that way. Kind of like what Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires did.
