Soul Calibur 6 Discussion

This might be a stupid question, but has there been any news on SC6? I've been searching the web for lord know's how long and I can't seem to find anything. I'd like to think something would be announced at E3 but if it doesn't then what?

My other big fear is that if it does get announced who's gunna care besides all 3 of its fans (I'm kidding)
I just dont want news to happen only for it to flop :(

"And how is somebody, with a large following, getting into our game more harmful than good?"

Sorry I didn't make a record book of people dropping off, but from what I have seen, that's what happened. Feel free to put up your statistics. I can think of a lot of names that quit from Viola. Tom Brady, a 2D player, quit SCIV because of Algol too. Even with ZWEI, I remember in the first year a huge majority of casuals complaining that he is "like fighting 2 characters at once!".

In that YouTube video where Kinetic Clash beat Signia with Viola with evo, there are a lot of comments from scrubs that hate Viola too. Viola, ZWEI, and Algol were not ranked high on the character poll. Viola beat some characters that weren't clones. She still lost to 20 though.

How is that me saying you hate 2D players? I don't even know how you could possibly arrive at that conclusion from me asking a question. Also, you're gonna use Tom Brady as an example, really? That dude complains and quits every game he plays over anything he thinks is the slightest bit overpowered. Mortal Kombat is the only game he plays that he has stuck with. Also, most of your arguments are equating the competitive scene with the overall SC fan base. Most of those Youtube comments are from people who simply regurgitate the opinions of pro players, instead of forming their own thoughts and opinions on the competitive aspects of the game. You didn't even bother to address the fact that we lost more players in the competitive scene to the Back Dash nerf. As for reasons why casuals quit the game, there are several that aren't Viola, Algol, or ZWEI. First, missing characters such as Talim, Sophitia, Taki, Seung Mina, Zasalamel, Cassandra, etc. Fans not liking characters that replaced old ones. The lack of single player modes like survival and time attack. The lack of a single player campaign akin to SC2 or SC3. The lack of endings for finishing arcade mode like their was in every other game of the series. Fans not liking the story either because they thought it was shit, or because it was too short for their liking because Namco forced Project Soul to release the game early. I could go on, but the point is if we took a survey of reasons why people left, I guarantee you that these reasons would be far above the "I think Viola, Algol, and ZWEI don't fit the game argument". You wanna talk reasons why the competitive scene is dying out/never seems to grow beyond a certain level, there's more to it than you and others thinking Project Soul is making bad designs.

Let me know what 2D players I am allowed to use next time. Didn't realize some people don't count. Wait a minute, did you just say that people don't want to play with new characters but with the old characters? Strange how that fits my argument and not yours. Of course there are multiple variables as to why people don't play Soulcalibur, but I thought we were talking about the roster? Algol/ZWEI/Viola are cheeks and old characters aren't except the ones that had no fan base to begin with like Rock.

I just found something interesting. Namco did a character survey back in 2002 and here are the results:

    • Seung Mina -- 22.33%
    • Sophitia -- 18.27%
    • Voldo -- 13.19%
    • Maxi -- 11.67%
    • Cervantes -- 11.67%
    • Yoshimitsu -- 4.56%
    • Hwang Sung Kyung -- 3.55%
    • Rock -- 3.04%
    • Lizard Man -- 2.53%
    • Mitsurugi -- 2.5%
    • Siegfried -- 2.5%
    • Bhang -- 1%
    • Johann Durer -- 1%
    • Li Long -- 1%

So at one point Seung Mina was the most popular character and hardly anyone cared about Mitsurugi. Surprising. Why are there so many characters missing from the poll though? Xianghua, Taki, Kilik and Ivy are all missing. Bhang is apparently the Japanese name for Rock's son Bangoo and Johann Durer is some random character from the backstory they threw in there for some reason.

Lizardman beating Mitsurugi and Siegfried? Yeeeeeah, eat it!

so maybe I'm disappointed with his position in the recent poll. so what?

Really odd poll and results though. The only two ladies on the poll are in the top positions by a large margin, followed by... Voldo?

Poor Li Long. He even lost to Johann Durer. Honestly I had no idea there even was a Johann Durer in the story until I saw that poll. Surely Li Long is better than some random NPC who hasn't even made a gameplay appearance? Oh yeah I forgot to mention I think that poll was only for Japan. That might explain the weird results.

Wait a minute, did you just say that people don't want to play with new characters but with the old characters? Strange how that fits my argument and not yours.
Except your argument has been that NEW characters like Viola and Algol are driving away players as opposed to old characters simply being left out. It doesn't fit your argument because they aren't replacing anyone. Natsu, Leixia, and Xiba are. So you could make the argument that those characters are driving away players, but instead your argument sounds like you're trying to say Taki fans are upset that Algol is in the game even though it's Natsu who replaced her.
Algol/ZWEI/Viola are cheeks and old characters aren't except the ones that had no fan base to begin with like Rock.
I don't know what you mean by this. I also never started an argument about the roster. That was you. I simply said it's dumb to not create characters with unique mechanics because they aren't what a Soul Calibur character should be according to the preferences of some people. Whether people like it or not, Project Soul has been pushing themselves to experiment with new ideas. The changes made to Tira in SC4 would never have happened if they kept themselves stuck in the mindset of the SC1/SC2 days. If I had things my way, I would like to see this series end, and for a new IP to take it's place so that they could be free to experiment with new ideas, instead of having to deal with people bitching that it ain't SC2.

Clearly you haven't ready my posts since I definitely said "watered down replacements" were a problem too. In fact this whole conversation stems from my post where I say they're all bad. If you want SC to die, then maybe you shouldn't be posting in a Soulcalibur VI discussion thread where people want it to continue. Just my thoughts.

Officially unfollowing this franchise. We've been put down numerous times and the hints that the team gave the fans are just let downs. Waiting for a game that is likely not going to surpass the past ones is only sprinkling salt to an open wound. Goodbye, TS has lost a dedicated fan.
