There is no shame in liking SCV characters, they are victims of the circumstances more than anything. I love Xiba, even more than Kilik, I must say, and I don't mind saying that, Xiba has a fun personality and he is the result of Kilik and Xianghua's romance, which was very beautiful, so there is plenty to like about him. Also, Viola got her profile deleted, so its very likely that she is gonna be removed, though due to her being pretty much Amy, I doubt its a loss, since the latter surely would be added to the game. Also, hell no, no time travel, I hate that, it fucks timelines and stories.
They're victims of very shallow writing. The thing that makes them so unlikable, is the reason why some people hated Yun-Seung. Its their overly childish personalities ruining the tome of the grimmer atmosphere. I personally don't like seeing the new characters as ignorant, plucky side-kicks.

Yeah, those were the circumstances I was talking about. And honestly, I don't see anything too grim about SCV, the characters and stages are all more colorful and the story didn't bring too much "dark" stuff to call it grim.

This could just be my taste, but thats why it disappointed me. Isolating just Pyrrha's backstory and Pyrrha-Omega, theirs were pretty good. The horrific treatment of her (minus her annoying character) could have been utilized in parallel to Siegfried to build something like they did with Raphael, if she was just separate from the "main plot" story and just a servant or weapon of Tira. Cut out everything Patroklos was involved in and we'd have a start. The other characters are at least salvageable if they were given the same treatment. War-torn demon infested countries shouldn't be fun. Smh.

Puh-lease.

YunSeong is a hunk.

I'd pay for costumes DLC that weren't included, because you know each game has a certain "flavor" to it.
You know the music, look & feel of the game. So it really feels like a new game.

Say they released the outfits/armor for previous games. So you could recreate that exact look or mix them. Yea, it wouldn't bother me to pay for that.

Many of the new characters are hinted to have darker stories coming. For example, the artbook mentions that Kilik's duty to close rifts in the Astral Chaos is slowly killing him and Maxi is trying to get Xiba to do it instead. Natsu's story getting darker is a given, since Arahabaki and all. And, of course, Z.W.E.I and Viola have potential in the dark tone department.

Its not impossible to fix them if their characterizations got a soft-reboot. Write them under more serious concepts and they might be more acceptable. It may be the first time I actually feel like characters in a story need some relatively more emphasized personal angst to actually make them interesting. It at least gave some reasoning to Yun-Seung's motivation giving him some merit for his people. (If only Seung Mina didn't constantly hen-peck him. Its why characters that travel together can also be hindering for their development as well, as seen with his SC4 ending).

If they made SC5 with everything in it available in-game, while they made you pay for SC4 costumes or music for use, I would understand that much because its content that isn't considered to be directly made for the game, but retroactive bonus content. However content that already was made for the game is an insult to have to pay for.

Rebooting their characters seems like cheating. They're young, just put them through hell and watch them mature.

It's about time somebody else agreed with me.
I'd rather have them "cheat" and confess they messed up than to continue with the "you age-you don't-you disappeared for no reason" turn the series has taken.
They have ways to undo the horrors Daishi gave us, they'd better not miss the chance to get the series back on good tracks.

It REALLY isn't even that much to whine and complain about, especially since Tekken went through the exact same thing.

The new characters were not bad characters. Just extremely underdeveloped and one-dimensional. PS has enough backstory in one book to not even put a lot of effort and willpower into solving that issue. I say this specifically towards the Asian characters. The Alexandra siblings may be different because they've already went through a lot in one game.

Tekken isn't a reference imho. It's a popular game, but I think there are many better games.

Agreed for the Asian characters. They were but pale copies of the people they were supposed to come after. But "new skins for old style" isn't really a success. Also, advancing in the storyline to the point they cut characters is not good in a fighting game. In other types of game it would be acceptable, but in a fighting game it feels really like cheating:
"Let's do something new!" "Let's pretend it's X's child and they got the same fighting style as their parents?" "Brilliant!"

That's the laziest way to develop a character. We could set SCVI 25 years after SCV, and use the same thing: Leixia's and Xiba's successors would be their love children, etc. That wouldn't work. Also, I'm in favor of new characters, but it shouldn't mean sacrificing veterans.
