@Project Bokuho, @Talim JP, Talim already won a character poll months ago. By a landslide. This "popularity tournament" is FREE for Talim.
We'll see & I hope so.

A lot of the old characters can come back in addition to the new ones, and many of their stories provide ways to do it. Natsu went to Europe in search of Taki, and there's a similar story with Xiba and Kilik. Xianghua could possibly come back too, since Leixia doing something stupid would be a huge blow to her family's reputation. Also, I'm in favor of new characters, but it shouldn't mean sacrificing veterans.
yes, Tekken is a good reference. Not only because it is a fighting game, but it is made by the same company.Tekken isn't a reference imho. It's a popular game, but I think there are many better games.
Agreed for the Asian characters. They were but pale copies of the people they were supposed to come after. But "new skins for old style" isn't really a success. Also, advancing in the storyline to the point they cut characters is not good in a fighting game. In other types of game it would be acceptable, but in a fighting game it feels really like cheating:
"Let's do something new!" "Let's pretend it's X's child and they got the same fighting style as their parents?" "Brilliant!"
That's the laziest way to develop a character. We could set SCVI 25 years after SCV, and use the same thing: Leixia's and Xiba's successors would be their love children, etc. That wouldn't work. Also, I'm in favor of new characters, but it shouldn't mean sacrificing veterans.
I don't think you can use that to justify. Look how Tekken Revolution worked and how garbage Soul Calibur Lost Swords was, things don't go well just because they're both from Namco, the teams are different.yes, Tekken is a good reference. Tekken has done the exact same pattern since Tekken 3, and still does it to this day with Tekken 7.
Their stories would indeed provide the come back of some characters, but they also chose to cut some characters because they were "too old", while they kept some from aging. They thought they gave us some fresh blood with (mostly) recycled styles, but we got characters with as much use as a chocolate teapot. Also, if the vets were to come back, most sucessors would be useless, and keeping them just for the sake of being "child of" is quite ridiculous. I dunno were a possible SCVI would go, but hopefully far from Daishi's views.A lot of the old characters can come back in addition to the new ones, and many of their stories provide ways to do it. And that's not even the characters that haven't been replaced. Also, Talim would be legal. Just saying.
Just because the game is seen as "the" game doesn't mean it's better than others, less important games. Some games are the same over and over again and addicted players follow them no matter what. To be honest, I loved T1-3, but after that they were seemingly pushing their luck. Good for them, their games kept on thriving. Soulcalibur was victim of bad decisions, and they tried to shove some Tekken in it (Heihachi and Devil Jin as guests while none of these styles suited the universe, as well as maaaaany DLCs).yes, Tekken is a good reference. Not only because it is a fighting game, but it is made by the same company.

No she doesn't. Taki is way more popular than her.i wouldnt mind the new characters staying in the game tbh. Leixia is pretty much xiang anyway. Natsu beats taki. Xiba and kilik were both in the game. And about the greeks hwo cares they are all the same![]()
How unfortunate for you that Taki is basically guaranteed to return at this point.yea boohoo popular doesnt mean good. And natsu basically has the same story as taki since she is her apprentice and designwise she wins so Natsu>Taki. I dont think people should cry about taki not being in there in the first place because her fighting style is just make a cas and you got her whats the problem.
Newsflash, the game is not based around what you want only. The new characters earned fans and have potential. They cannot simply remove them, it was a mistake with veterans and it is the same with the newcomers. How is this still an argument? The new characters are a product of what Daishi wanted, and newsflash, he's no longer on the team. It's not "cheating" to go back to the original setting, it's flat-out fixing the mistakes of the previous leader.
Except the veterans have way more fans than the newcomers. How many people voted for Patroklos? Hardly anyone actually likes him. It's easy to remove them and it would make no difference, because the amount of people who would actually care about their absence are extremely limited.Newsflash, the game is not based around what you want only. Viola was #21 in that poll and we don't know anything about her. Just a little more screen time and many of the new characters could be quite popular.Except the veterans have way more fans than the newcomers. How many people voted for Patroklos? You mean the poll where less than 1% of the community voted?Except the veterans have way more fans than the newcomers. How many people voted for Patroklos? Hardly anyone actually likes him. .....The discussion was about replacing veterans with new characters, and the audiences' reception to it. Both games share the same demographics (Tekken 7; SCV). Some coming from past games who have done the same process as well (Tekken 3; Soulcalibur-SC2). Even look at how many are complaining about the replacements in Tekken 7 compared to SC. Tekken doesn't have THAT much power dynamics to be excused for things other games get hated for.I don't think you can use that to justify. Look how Tekken Revolution worked and how garbage Soul Calibur Lost Swords was, things don't go well just because they're both from Namco, the teams are different.
