In MK/Injustice each character gets their own chapter, and not all characters get chapters (but more than the three SCV had) as some are antagonists you fight. That sounds workable.
What a surprise that game that's funded by something as huge as WB could allow itself to have a big fully cinematic story mode that has chapters for a lot of characters on top of proper arcade mode.
SC may be not as niche as BlazBlue, Gilty Gear, Under Night and likes, but it's still a niche weaboo title compared to budget(and popularity)-giants like MK.
And before "we can't tell their budget yet, they have much more time on their hand than with SCV" - look at amount of content in Bamco's "main game" that was on arcades for 2.5 years - Tekken 7 and give yourself a sad reality check.

A few character profiles have summed up the events of the previous game up to the present. Plus the first part of SC3's intro showed a bit of what happened between SC2 and 3. That's all I really need as a summary tbh.
Sorry, but a "summary" just and bits and pieces without actually seeing it is not enough for me anymore.

DOA5 had a cinematic story where most characters got chapters and that's niche compared to MK. What's the excuse?

Complete prices of DLC for this game go up to 2000$+, this story mode is a complete incoherent shit.
We are not getting a "hollywood movie packed with a complete game" - your expectations are unrealistic.
Vergeben said there's a huge focus on story. In this day and age, don't expect that all we're getting is an arcade mode. Anyways, this is going nowhere so I'm done for now.

I'm not trying to say that there won't be a story mode, I'm trying to say that the type of story-mode you desire is counter-productive in such small game. It most probably won't be much better than SCV's and just will be longer (but you still would like it more, just because it's not about Patty).
SCIII-type storytelling is much more entertaining, resource-productive, has much more replayability (and gives much more "single player modes"-points, as every character has their own thing) and covers all characters and their roles in the SC world.

I'm honestly more worried that all this focus on the story might possibly hurt the rest of the game and have it become a bare bones unplayable mess.

GTA 6: Just impossible, way too early, and with RDR2 coming this spring 2018, so.
Halo 6: If it exist, Microsoft would announce it on E3. Also 343i community manager confirmed that no Halo 6 at VGA.
TES 6: Way too early as well, especially with Batheda not liking announcing their games too early.
I'm not trying to prove any point, agree nor disagree with you, just trying to think of all possible 6th game:
-DOA6 Kappa
-Persona 6

anything else you guys can think of?

But SCVI is the one with all the hints pointing to it. I'd wager it's that.

You know what is funny? When people put all their hope in one event, yet they can't get its name right.

Saying VGA instead of the full notation aka Video Game Awards is right and not wrong, it's common and a well know notation, like saying TGS (Tokyo Game Show) or PSX (Playstation Experience). It's fine though if you're not familiar with those notations, but that doesn't make it wrong either.

- Persona 5 don't even have 1 year, and Persona 4 was release on ... 2008, to give you a hint on how the timing of this franchise works.

- DOA6, very unlikely for many reasons, one of them being that Costumes DLCs are still making money for Team Ninja and Tecmo. And i personally don't see this game to happen in this current generation console tbh.

- Virtua Fighter 6, unlikely as well, even though i won't be totally against it since i love this franchise. But it won't be VF6.
Also right now i want SC6 announcement way more, specially with the hype and all, but would be for sure great if Sega will announce VF6 next year.

It's gonna be SC6 and you know it ;)

It seems that you don't know what are you talking about. Video Game Awards and The Game Awards are different events. So if you are still waiting for VGA, then good luck.

You indeed right about this the name is Game award and not Video game awards, but those are just little details, and you also get what i meant, and i also give the date of the event already, so.
