Soul Calibur 6 Discussion

Probably UE4, and I can't wait to see how phenomenal SC will look on current gen.
I'm not tech expert but I hope they use UE4 for it to make the game look a bit more realistic like what MKX did. Characters look and feel like they actually have weight to them.

I wasn't expecting a Soul Calibur announcement at TGA anyways, especially if Namco does reveal a new SC game on the 15th. It just seems weird that they'd talk about it so soon afterward.

On another note, if SCVI does get a release on PC... How much do you wanna bet it'll have Denuvo protection?

Even though BN have their event, but it would still be a great strategy to show a teaser for SC at TGA, since this one is a huge worldwide mainstream event, at least bigger than Bandai Namco Event i think which is a bit less known and will be followed mainly but BN fans. While TGA is gonna be followed by all kind of fans, so would have a bigger potential audience to touch.

I'm still hoping SC6 will shown at TGA tbh, it won't be disaster if that won't happen in this event, but i'd love it to be reveal first there.

Why are so many people so attached to the old? I'm glad we're getting actual stories in fighting games nowadays, I prefer it to not knowing the story in the game itself. Anyways, it's pointless to debate this as it's already confirmed that SCVI will have a huge focus on story.
I ask myself this question a lot

Showing a teaser at TGA can't hurt the game's marketing. On the contrary! It would divert all eyes on the event where they are planning to show some good stuff. Therefore, it would be logical.

Wait can you point out any sign of Sophitia aging because she doesn't look a day older to me. Besides it's not out of the realm of possibility considering hardly anyone aged last time.
Look at the third sketch, her face looks different than the other two.

Regarding SC6, I remember someone saying that it would be in a tournament, not in TGA. I think it was Maximilian Dood.

Maybe a little but certainly not enough to say she really aged from the time skip like Kilik did.
Like I said, no woman would age too much in a japanese game. Even Kilik only got a beard in those sketches, which is something that makes a man look quite older in itself.

Here's some news: That "insane franchise sequel #6" statement from Geoff Keighley (the guy who hosts The Game Awards) was apparently taken completely out of context. We won't actually be seeing anything like that at TGA. (Source)

Looks like we might be waiting even longer for an announcement... orz
brb i wanna die

Also how much time do you think passed since SCV? Natsu looks older than 17, to me at least.
I don't think SC5 will stay in the canon. Natsu, specially, had her bio deleted, so, they can change whatever they want with her. Regardless, I'm sure she'll stay Taki's apprentice, but even her birthdate can be heavily changed.

That'd be awful. They need more reach than that, especially for slightly more casual fans who wouldn't be watching fighting game tournaments.
Not really, people can watch it online.

That's not the point. The people who are going to seek this stuff out for themselves don't need preferential treatment when it comes to advertising venues. If Bamco wants folks talking about SoulCalibur VI in a big way, they need to show the game off to wider audiences and impress them with shiny graphics, cool characters, fun-looking gameplay and the like.

The ideal response is "wow, I've never played SoulCalibur, but that looks great" or "Darth Ezio in a fighting game? I'm in!" from uninitiated audiences and anything that isn't anger or alienation from existing fans.

It remind me how Rockstar built the hype around RDR2 before its announcement. That was just crazy how they did it, so simple, and yet hype AF.

Also there is another good side on building teases before you announcements, is that if they got leak right before it won't matter much and they won't get too butthurt, cause the company already built the tease themselves for their game so people already know officially about the existence of the game.

Also building teases make websites talk about the game and the franchise even before the announcement, same goes to the players, i mean all kind of players/streamers, so not just die hard fans.

I'm a lil worried now tbh, I was honestly hoping it'd be announced at TGA or PSX for yknow "bigger audiences" to produce excitement and such, but they seem unlikely now. I'm unsure what the scale of this bamco event is compared to these two events, will it be even live streamed? Still here's hoping for some information that it's actually being developed.

Uh oh, guys I found something troubling. Remember when Autumn asked if character designer Takuji Kawano left? I thought that couldn't have been the case because he's been with the team so long. Then I decided to look up the Project Soul website and on the 20th anniversary interviews he's the only big name member (besides Daishi and Harada, who both left the team) who did NOT get an interview.

That sucks if he really left, but it would explain why they've hired different artists since Lost Swords and why Passion Republic was outsourced for designs. I suppose Hoshino provides guidelines for other artists to work with (probably something like "make it as sexy and/or over-the-top as possible) and they design them for a payment. I guess that makes the idea that PR helped design the characters look more true, but still I'd hate it if he left because his designs are part of what makes Soulcalibur, well, Soulcalibur.
