Good catch! I did notice that SC6 Mitsu looks an awful lot like SC1 Mitsu... Maybe this game takes place during or shortly after SC1?

Mitsu's outfit is a remake of his SCI default, and Sophie's is very close as well. This is almost certainly a reboot.

The directors have changed a lot, but a lot of the key talent has worked on most SC titles, and most of the directors were involved with earlier SC titles. I'm just curious who's working on this one. If it's mostly new people, then I think we can expect some big changes from other SC titles.

It just seems like the role of Soul Calibur Director has a high turnover rate. Kind of depressing.

We don't know if Hoshino is gone yet, he just wasn't at the event. We'll have to find out.

It would be awesome if this new mechanic of swichting stances/weapons would give a character some sort of soul companion like Ivy - Snake, Siegfried - Eagle, Cervantes - Kraken, Kilik - Phoenix, Voldo - Spider, Mitsurugi - Dragon, Hilde - Griffin etc. What do you think of it?

I don't like how buxom Sophie is here. I'd prefer if she went back to her SCI or SCII size. Otherwise I love the outfit. Those thighboots make me moist.
