With maxi being maybe gay I started thinking I could see talim being bi because gender wouldn't matter to her when it comes to love. But on a mire serious note good to here the roster is at least 20 with more characters being likely

20 characters being the minimum before DLCs? Either I hope that each character will be quite cheap... or I'll wait until the complete edition. I've already waited 6 years, I can wait another year if it means not getting effed deep and dry.

Did you like the pricing of DOA5's DLC characters? I didn't think 3 pounds for a new character was bad, but if they're legacy characters that should really be in the game from the get go they should be less than that.

(Na i could wait longer, but for even longer wait time this SC should be the best one)
I could see like they go through every game with a new DLC (in this case, i could even accept a season pass c.c ) - but this would be just to great.

I agree with you, I swear if I don't get at least Cervantes then there is no way I'm gonna buy the game at launch (cuz I don't really care about the others characters, the are cool and all but I just don't want to play them ^^)

Well, this is how Kof14 select screen looked during developpement

And as you can see, it didn't really change at the end.

That seems quite ok... again, if the character isn't planned months in advance. I really hate DLCs, but SOME characters (4-5 max) at 3 bucks each is ok, but if I have to pay 10 bucks for a character and pay more for DLCs than for the "finished products", I'll get an illegal copy of SC6 on computer and mod/hack the hell out of it.

I was thinking if they had season pass fir dlc they could do a soul calibur 2&3 characters season and if does well they could make season 2 were its soul calibur 4&5 characters

It's kinda ironic how that character select screen really does look like placeholder art, but ended looking exactly like the final design.

If there was more of a precedent for games to show placeholder stuff, I'd be less worried about the roster, but I can't think of a single instance of a fighting game showing a character screen early which didn't end up being nigh identical to what the final game showed (the only exception I can think of is SF5, but that select screen is designed to dynamically hide/show characters based on installed content and it never shows blank slots).

And besides, even if it's not finalized art, wouldn't the artist making the select screen know how many characters the game is supposed to have? It seems weird to me an artist would present a design for the character select screen with a completely arbitrary number of slots, especially since the slots are fairly big (if the game's gonna have 26 or more characters, they'd have to fully redesign that screen as the slots would start to occupy the same space as the character models).

You guys that are unhappy with 20/21 characters? You would prefer 30 characters while 10 slots would be filled with mimics and clones?

Personally, if they'll choose wisely the roster it should tight. Also of course they have to add at least 6 characters after launch as DLC. At least there is more chance to have a Quality over Quantity in this game. (Of course if that won't happen, i'm gonna complain my A**, but i'm faithful the game will be well done in that area).

You guys should realize, you want mindblowing graphics, you want dope gameplay, you want a huge contents, you want more updates after launch, i mean guys it's an AAA Fighting Game not an Indie game or something, if the season pass will have good value (and not Trashy like T7's), and considering that after SC6 there won't be another SC game before years, i'll be all for the season pass that will add more value contents.

For those who really aren't happy with season pass, i think you should wait until all DLC are out and a goty edition is gonna be release. Personally that's what i usually do for Single player games, or other fighting games that i'm not too big fan of. (I waited for MKXL for example) . Or wait for the price sale of the season pass, at least having season pass will keep the hype for the game even way longer after release. Even if you hate the idea of the season pass, and even you won't buy it, but at least try to see all the advantages of it. Sorry but i just don't want another SCV situation where the game was super rushed and then it got update but just a bit. I want SC6 to have a way better scenario that its predecessor game.

I put there here, it summarize the whole:

If you want my personal suspicion of who the "locked in 20" would be, mixing in what I've heard and shared so far with my own suspicion as of this very moment because SCVI is a rebooted MK9 style retelling thing, I would imagine the roster winds up being
Sophitia
Mitsurugi
The new guy with the dual blade weapon
The new guy's parent
Kilik
Xianghua
Maxi
Nightmare
Siegfried
Taki
Ivy
Astaroth
Voldo
Cervantes
Yoshimitsu
Talim
Lizardman/Aeon Calcos
Guest character
Tira or Seong Mi-Na
Hwang or Yun-Seong

It's really those last two slots that seem the most "could go either way if only 20" but since I've heard of Tira already, I'd put her in a much more solid position than Seong Mi-Na, Yun-Seong, or Hwang as being a launch roster character.
Again, this is just going with the idea of them going bare minimum 20, though from what I've been told, that doesn't seem to be the finalized case, but there's a chance it could be.
Since I didn't hear that Zasalamel is definitely in, but was told he's very likely, that kind of leads me to believe that he's probably DLC.
Rock, Inferno, and Edge Master are the most likely sacrifices in this rebooted version for obvious reasons.
With Seong Mi-Na and Hwang being in a place of uncertainty given how the series has treated them before already in being "kind of expendable."
But, again, those all or a combination of them could make it in since 20 doesn't seem to actually be the finalized roster. This is only my speculated roster if it is.

If we take into account different movesets, we should end up with at least 27 characters. It's not that hard to put these movesets from one game to another (even @Sectus did it!), so there's basically no excuse for the SCVI roster to be so short ESPECIALLY after the backlash after SCV release.
Did you took the 2 new chars in account? And guest chars`?

You guys that are unhappy with 20/21 characters? You would prefer 30 characters while 10 slots would be filled with mimics and clones?
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the game to match the roster size of recent SC games. If it's only 20 characters, then it's the smallest roster in 19 years.

As a side note, I personally wouldn't see some characters sneak in with minimal effort. Take their models, voices, and movesets from SC4/5, polish them a little bit so they look a bit more presentable and are fully working, and include them purely as bonus characters (disallow them in ranked play in case they're not fully balanced). Considering Sophitia and Mitsurugi's body models are extremely similar to their models from SC4/5 (even poly count looks to be extremely similar), then other models should hold up too.

I'll come out and say I have no idea how big the roster is precisely, but it's time to quell some worries.
The character select screen isn't final, but 20 is going to be minimum before DLC. Some incomplete characters are being held back for DLC unfortunately. I was told the game will most likely have more characters than SCV though. But just don't expect 30+ characters or whatever.
Okay, this is still bad. 20 characters without including DLC and more characters than SC5, means that we will have a small release roster (a fighting game having 20 starting characters in 2018 is a joke), and we may have like, 6 DLC characters, which would be a fair ammount if the base roster wasn't so stupidly small.

Maxi is in by the way. Speaking of which, I have some big news about him potentially.
Take this with a HUGE grain of salt because even my source that told me couldn't 100% confirm it, but the wording and what they were told eludes them to believe that he might be gay on SCVI, apparently?
OOOOOHHHHH!!! One of the hottest guys in the series is into guys? Hmmmm...

Don't look too far into this yet. But the story mode is going to be covering Astaroth killing Maxi's crew and close friends in some kind of emotional way, and it was said to me that maybe his lover is going to be in the game to some extent and be a man that was killed to give Maxi even more of a motive against his neverending feud with Astaroth now.
For now, just keep that in mind if it is the case.
Well, the crew thing never really made much sense. I mean, yeah, a man can have a good relationship with his crew, but still, they're just his employees. However, in some other topic, I remember I made mention of Maxi's sworn brother, Kyam, as a potential specific reason why Maxi would want revenge. Well, maybe Kyam will actually be a lover instead of just a sworn brother.

The source who told me about the Switch version is different from the one who originally told me of the game's existence as I've noted before.
The Switch source is the one that said Link would be on that version.
Not only that, but my main SCVI source who knows a lot of things about the game, only suspected there might be a Fire Emblem character, as I also said before.
Hopefully this one is a fake. I hate the idea of console exclusive guests, its stupid and annoying. Re-release SC2HDO with Link if they want to, but leave SC6 out of the exclusive guests bullshit.

Let me just come out and say, what they were speculating over what lead to that Fire Emblem character speculation is no longer the case as more information came to light. Maybe you can connect the dots as to how and why. But it involves a Soul Calibur character.
They also never formally and outright heard of a Switch version, other than it was "likely" but couldn't personally confirm it and still can't.
Basically, the FE character speculation due to a certain detail they knew about was the only reason why the thought there might be one, but they found out later that it wasn't who or why.
I see, then its exactly as I expected. They saw someone that looked, fought or sounded like a Fire Emblem character, so they assumed it would be a guest, I am glad they're wrong, we don't need a console exclusive guest.

Does it kill the SCVI on Switch's chances of existing? At the moment, let's go with it is uncertain.
If it's not revealed at the January Direct (which I am personally doubting but we shall see), then it's either happening later as a port after the PS4, PC, and Xbox One release, or not at all.
But I'd keep some hope to it happening eventually because there is OBVIOUS fan demand for it.
And if the SCVI on Switch source is reliable, then if the issues they've encountered for optimization are not deemed too bad and the performance can be kept up to snuff and runs right, then it will happen and release. Though it probably will wind up being an after-the-fact port, since DBFZ will be getting the same treatment. Switch ports are great for business as the Switch is selling like hotcakes.
But the optimization is not something developers can skimp on getting right, as you've seen in some Switch port cases just fucking up and getting wrong to try and capitalize on the console's success (WWE 2k18 for a massive instance)
Well, in this topic there has been some talk about it, with a source saying that when SC6 started being produced, they didn't even know about the Switch, so they didn't make it at the time, but it was a possibility. Maybe they will convert it later OR are already converting it and the Switch version will be released later than the rest.

Agreed

It would not be a stretch to say that it is SC4/5 models with better lighting and higher resolution

It seems like a bit of a disappointment, but considering what T7 looked like I'm not quite sure what to think of it anymore.
