SOULCALIBUR 6: News, leaks and information discussion.

The 'Light vs Dark' theme this series has is usually between Siegfried and Nightmare.
Not really.. Canonically, Soul Blade was Sophitia Vs Cervantes, SCI was Xianghua Vs Nightmare, SCII Soul Calibur was evil, SCIII and SCIV was Siegfried Vs Nightmare and SCV was Pat Vs Pyrrha, Nightmare working behind the scenes, being defeated halfway through and Soul Calibur (Elysium) being corrupt.

So no, the light Vs dark theme isn't usually Nightmare Vs Siegfried.. It's just the most recognisable one within the community.

However, I can see why people might think of Okubo's comment as a hint towards Siegfried, as like I said, within the community people generally recognise Siegfried and Nightmare as the main Light Vs Dark characters.

(By the way, hope I didn't come off as too harsh ^^)

Not a lot of information to work based on that BTS video, but here goes:

1) Okubo mentions that NM is a fan favourite. He's never really that high in the popularity polls (since you can only vote for your 1st place) but I imagine Nightmare being visually iconic and wielding a titular weapon that drives the story forward confirms his enormous popularity.

2) Okubo also mentions that SC6 is Light vs Dark. Who will therefore represent the Light ? If not Siegfried, then who??

• Kilik would have been a good candidate but he's definately more complicated than the lawful good paragon representation in the prior verisons. His Soul Charge is unquestionable menacing.
• Xianghua wielded the Soul Calibur Swords, but based on the trailer and the movesets in the gameplay video, doesn't really have a "vanquish evil" good girl vibe.
• Groh seems like a bounty-hunter outside the main Light vs Dark conflict.

3) Okubo's patting himself on the back regarding the visual impact of Nightmare's Critical Edge, but I cannot disagree. His Critical Edge is absolutely and undeniably absurdly cool. Combination of visual concept, animation + camera angles makes it my favourite of the revealed Critical Edge and I cannot fathom something more awesome since the bar has been raised so high. Mitsurugi's seems rather tame by comparison.
I'm thinking Sophie vs. Nightmare for light vs dark, especially since they have dialogue together from SC1.

Again if Groh & Kilik are any indication, Nightmare seems like he'd have a rival and Siegfried is a possible scenario if Vergeben's main source is correct. Sophitia's slot isn't anywhere near his although interestingly hers is towards the mysterious center slot (which Kilik and Groh are also near.) Could always be Raph if he or Zas aren't left of Nightmare.

That may not mean anything as Mitsurugi hasn't had major enemies unless you want to count Taki or Setsuka who seems like a no-show.

Since SCVI will be based from SCI-III my main guess is going to be Xianghua because she was the original welder of Soul Calibur along with Kilik and Maxi. They could do something different and make Raphael represent the light as crazy as that is since he and Nightmare did fight. Seriously it could be any of the good characters that could be light (or those that oppose Nightmare at least.)

Also when it comes to those short videos Okubo could show some concept art as to why they decided to tweak and improve a character's outfit in this game and also why they scraped other ones.

Shoutouts to the fact that they fucked it up on the official twitter for the game too. XD
I think it's been pretty obvious from the start that their social media interns are definitely not the cream of the crop. Their soulcalibur twitter is often the last with new information, and the US Bamco Youtube account didn't even get the Groh trailer up until the following day.

SC facebook last update... Kappa

Okay thread cleaned. If you are going to speculate GO TO A SPECULATION THREAD. For those that got their posts deleted, mostly it was because it should've been in the SCVI General Discussion thread. All others were for those that just couldn't be civil.

I don't get why the posts with the twits and FB updates by Namco have been deleted, those are news. None of my messages got deleted, but sometimes I find the mods ridiculously extreme and that makes people's will to post go down. and what's a forum without posts?
It's been said repeatedly that this thread is about news, leaks, and information regarding the game. None of those things you mentioned were anything like that. The Geralt speculation posts were all moved to a speculation thread. I won't be doing that again. Next time it'll all just get deleted.

Is that provable? 'They uploaded it then quickly removed it' kind of info does sometimes happen but it's also a pretty common lie.

Hmmm....

I think that's around the perfect time to reveal 2 more characters (Taki plz) and introduce a brand new build with those 10 characters. I mean, we did get ONLY 2 character reveals last month. It would make sense to get two more mid March, and this event is perfect for providing gameplay of those to-be announced characters.

Maybe i'm too hopeful, but if we're not getting any more reveals until the end of this month, then i hope this build AT LEAST has Ivy & Zasalamel in it.

New gameplay is always good & welcome, but i really wish we'd get something new.

Also, they DID tease us on Twitter & FaceBook with the "Who Is Next?!" video. It seems weird to post that, and reveal the character(s) two or three weeks later.

From the way things are going 2 characters a month. It just hype for the game.

I don't think they'd reveal new characters at a tournament (unless it's Evo) because they typically don't have much control over the venue or the setting. So many unknowns make big announcements riskier.

But I hope I'm wrong!
