Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

What makes the video extra-bullshit is that if he was able to recreate one of the names, he should've been able to recreate the rest.

Exactly. We'll have to wait and see if they can reveal the rest in the next few days. Better to keep an eye on it, but at the moment, I'm pretty sure its bogus.

I don't get it. Mina missed one game, Soul Calibur 5; I don't see why there would be a reluctance for that character not to be in the game in a remake of SC1's story.

My skepticism of anything saying Mi-na will be in the game comes from 2 reasons that relate to each other pretty heavily. First is the perceived limited roster space. BN hasn't said anything about the final roster numbers for SCVI (that I can remember) but we seem to all be thinking around 23ish. The second reason is that, though Mi-na was in 2, 3, and 4, she's felt kind of like an after thought (to me at least, maybe others disagree) in those games. Just added to the roster for the sake of having a bigger roster because Kilik has been the long arms weapon user BN has really put work into keeping fresh. With those thoughts in mind why would BN use one of their limited roster slots on a character they don't really care enough about to keep fresh and unique?

Maybe I'm completely off base and just don't talk to enough people who play Soul Calibur outside of the Madison community but those are my thoughts. I would be very surprised to see Mi-na make the base games roster. It would be a nice surprise, I do enjoy the little I've played of her in SCIV and SCII, but it would still be a surprise.

Mi-na has been relegated to unlockable tier ever since SC1 if I'm correct.

Always in Kilik's shadow. She was actually cut from SCII and was brought back in the home console release along with sophitia.

Perhaps that is why she has a laxy eye in SCII and both she and Sophitia are thiccc and sound crazy in that game.

Fake or Real?

This is impossible

I'm fairly sure it's impossible to reverse edit an already edited picture if you don't know what the original source looks like

That reminds me, SCV was the first time Lizardman was on the default roster and not an unlockable. I suppose being the weird bonus character is kind of his thing though.

Sophie's been an unlockable since SCII although (except for in 2) she feels like they always put good effort into her as an extra major character rather than a 'oh right this character exists too' character like Mina (and Rock for that matter) tends to be.

Given what they've done with Yoshimitsu in this game by finally removing all of his cloned moves and pulling him further away from his Tekken incarnation, I'd say that with SC6 being something of a fresh start for the series, and the long development time, they're probably trying to bring back veteran characters without heavy cloning of their movelists.

Also, Mina has been in EVERY game since Soul Edge, including Soul Calibur. She may seem like an afterthought to you and I would agree given the fact she's held a cloned style for a long time. SC4 did a lot to pull away from being a Kilik, with SC5 being the ONLY GAME she missed along with Taki and Sophitia, I don't see any real reason why she can't come back.

I don't really play the character, to be honest, but based on interviews, circumstantial evidence and so on and so forth, I'm pretty sure she's in the game. Regardless of whether that video is faked or not.

Something potentially of note is that Cassandra, Mina, and Amy all returned in Lost Swords (alongside Sophie) despite being missing in SCV (while Rock and Yun didn't).

I don't know if it'll actually have much bearing on stuff but if there's 3 extra characters thrown in to fill out the roster it could be them. At least I don't think we can say any one is more likely than the others, since the three of them returned together before.

Wonder if Talim has BBB or AAA. Sadly, i don't think we'll get a new build before the game drops.

If Amy is in, I'd expect her as DLC.

No way in hell she's in before Raphael on the main roster.

Also, Rock was considered for Lost Souls but I'm fairly certain the polls broke due to the amount of talim votes

if character select screen stays the way it is i dont think cassandra is gonna be day one. i figure they want to keep the sisters together ya know?

and voldo, liz. asta, cervantes and tira are gonna be on the right. new character at the bottom. and we know talim is gonna be on the left.

so that leaves only 3....

There has to be at least one more update to the roster, since we need spaces for the DLC characters (they're obviously not going to just put them in some list off to the side).

That could mean 24 characters (or 25 if the middle is also an unlock) since there's 4 dlc characters and, if the speculation is right and the names shift down for more slots, there'd be space for one more base game slot if they keep it to 5 slots per row.

I wouldn't count on it but it's a possibility.

Bandai Namco has a tendency to build spots for DLC characters onto the roster without an expansion of any sort. Darth Vader and Yoda each had a spot depending on the version and Dampierre had his slot already as well.

That's why there has to be another character select screen update before release.

There's 23 slots on the current roster and 20 of those are definitely in the base game (since there's 20 playable characters in story mode), so there's not enough space for the 4 dlc characters right now. There'll have to be another larger character select if they do the same again and have the dlc slots there in the base game.

I suppose that could also be where the CAS slot is (if it's not in the middle or in those weird white circles), with the new bottom row being 1 slot for CAS and 4 slots left blank for dlc.
